Um, actually, Pikachu CAN have both Fly and Surf, in SwSh, due to the inclusion of TRs, or "Technical Records". Both Fly and Surf are TRs in that game, and I faintly remember you could put both on Pikachu, eliminating any need for an event Fly/Surf Pikachu.

Fun fact: Wahey man doesn't just randomize your pokemon, he's also the host in the choice game where you pick left or right and try to pick the correct one

I love this mechanic. It’s what got me a tanky snorlax and helped me get new powerful Pokémon like Kyogre and Rayquaza. My best score is still just 8 badges, but hey, it was a great run.

On my run I got a Rayquaza after like the 3rd gym that ended up traded into a Mewtwo and also another Rayquaza lol. I just avoided every single shop route for the rest of the run and managed to win.

I went from having no legends on my team to having a heatran, latias and cresselia right before the elite 4 (and 3 first stage mons lmao) the three of them pulled through pretty easy thanks to the combined bulk
