I fell off yesterday, was going into a canter and lost my stirrup and I was hanging off the side and had my other foot out of the other stirrup, I had no choice but to fall, I sat there in shock after 4 years of not falling and then started to cry, luckily Ted (the horse I was riding) started to get slow while in my fall, I did fall hard tho and hit my neck and my left leg which i didn’t land on ;o but I was proud of Ted as he slowed down while I was in my fall and he stopped after I fell which means it was easier for my instructor to catch him, she walked over to me and asked if I was ok, she ran through some stuff if I was sore, she asked me if I wanted to jump back on and I said yes, I got on and she asked if it was sore but I said a lil bit we then had the option to trot over the poles in jumping position or canter around, I did poles, I did great thankfully but I am still sore, I hope your ok :)
I just got bucked off 😂, I was being dumb and riding bareback in a halter and I asked him to canter and pop over a tiny fence (it like wasn’t over 2 foot) he thought it was very exciting and threw in a big buck it wasn’t a bad fall, but I was surprising and the ground was wet 😭
I am glad you are okay, falls can be really bad. One of my most recent fall was a couple months ago and it really knocked my confidence. Fall: I was having a okay ride and was going to go for a little canter on the long side but the transition suck and he was running into it, so that made the saddle shift around a lot. We were in the indoor and it was around 5, it was like pitch black outside. The saddle slipped of the side of him and I fell off on the right side of him so I was on the outside of him (the wall side) thank god I did not bang into the wall. It doesn’t sound that bad but I sprained my rips and hit my head pretty hard on the ground and the side of my leg. I can remember me laying on the floor not being able to move and my dad and coach rushing to me. The worst part is that there was a 8 year old riding so she watching the hole thing.
I fell of three days ago. I lost my stirrup at the first jump, and fell off when I turned away from the second. I hurt my shoulder and neck. My only advice is to NEVER hold onto the horses neck. You will end up slipping under the horses feet. Fall sideways, If U can.
I had a fall few months ago, and I was going to a jump (I was doing cross country) and i realized i couldent stop her when i was going to the jump I let her go over it bc we were very close (hoping the jump would slow her down) She took the jump but then did a buck and rear I was holding on for dear life but then my hands sliped and i fell onto my back. I had my body protector on so i was fine just a bit sore afterwards, anyways my pony ran away but then she slowed down to a walk and i was able to catch her. I had a upcoming show as the next time i rode her at that stable so it lost a lot of my confidence for the show. at the show she was acting up a lot I almost fell bc she did the same after a jump luckly i did not fall, and kept going. Once we got to the jump i slowed her down a lot bc i thought she would do it again ( this was the second last jump) she went over it a little fast but we did the last jump and she did awesome. And i regained my confidence back for that jump. Not all in the cross country. But we moved barns after the show so i never went in the cross country again.
Hope ur alright! But I wouldn’t say that was really a fall, just a emergency dismount so u didn’t fall off. But it still looked like u could have Chipped against the fence or hurt ur leg. Ouch
AWW i hate seeing people doing this, extended trot and then just 'sit' for them to canter, its not your fault its the trainors. it bangs on the horses back and teaches them bad habbits. please for gods sake just have a nice cllected trot or even a walk ,hold up that energy, hold hold, and then release you will have a much controlled canter no hate x just a tip
i have never fallen and im scared for the moment to! you took this like a chap tho! last week when i was in a canter i lost my Sturup and started to slip but i luckily got back up
something like actually happened to me once lol! so storytime! one time i was at old my trainer’s barn and i rode this super tall horse named rebel. we had just completed the barrel pattern at a lope and i lost my stirrup. i had fallen but since he was so tall i fell and tried to land on my feet but couldn’t. didn’t hurt whatsoever and was kinda fun but scary!
I fell off recently the horse I was riding spooked and threw me as I was riding to a jump Fun times 😂 I didn’t hit the jump standard all though I did hit my foot on the pole
Nope- he was on the correct canter lead (the horse should appear to lead the stride with their inside foreleg). To me it just looks like she lost her balance on the canter to trot transition (which can be difficult to stay balanced in especially when riding without stirrups like she was) and slid off the side xx
YOU HOLDING THE FENCE WAS ME WHEN MY HORSE TRIED TO TAKE OFF AFTER BEING YELLED AT FOR TRYNA EAT GRASS AND ALMOST GOT ME CAUGHT BETWEEN THE FENCE AND THE SADDLE CAUSE IT WAS AN UNTRAINED PONY
Falling off is the worst today the pony that had never been up in the livary arena bolted at a barn cat and nearly threw me off luckily I didn’t bc the arena had tiny rocks everywhere he even tripped up on the pole luckily my trainer grabbed into his bridle before a massive accident 😢😢😢❤
In Girl Scouts we are in horse treadmill so I got on the horse her name is “Clever” And she start walking to the left. And she jump and I fell in the horse I started to cry HARD. Glad my mom was supportive and wanted not to be the horse treadmill. My friends was checking on me and being nice. Then I tried a other go with another horse (it’s a pony) and my mom friend gave a special vest so it won’t hurt as much. I tried on the horse but I didn’t want to go. What I should do? Did I spooked the horse or choked the horse (with the strings) I got in-n-out and I started feel better about that and forgotten about it. It was a scary experience though 😢
I fell off three times... 1. Trying to Canter, had no choice but to fall since hanging onto neck of pony 2. Pony got spooked 3. Leasing a horse and not knowing shouldn't give contact to reins on a western horse.
Ik I've fallen before my worst one was when I learny got trodden on by a cob (cobs are quite medium size but they are very hard when they hit ur toe or boot) I've moved to a new barn bc my old barn was horrible (the one with the cob) (the instructor didn't even ask if I was OK she just said get. Back on and canter) I haven't fallen off at my new barn yet the horses are so sweet there and they are amazing jumpers aswell
i fell of yestarday5 times i was troting on a shetland pony only with a bridal bc my lesson horse was going crazy bc 2 mares had arrived at the barn and he is a station and u=in the model of the lesson the sadel started slipping and he was full on crazy so my trainer said that she was going to try to ride him in the lesson and bc we a=were in the woods that meant that we couldn't go back so i jumped on the shetland pony and fell off on the troths bc he put his head down so i fell out of balance
i don’t know why but when i (almost fell) i threw my body to the other side and let go of the reins and some how stayed on- shame on the fair people handling the pony now i ride horses at an actual barn 😌
It’s ok I’ve fallen off five times, and they say that if you fall off your a good rider, your still a good rider if you haven’t fallen off,but they say that
Im bedridden i just got my phone back. I had a bad concussion from falling off. I had picked up the canter. Lost both of my stirrups. The horse god spooked by something. He started bucking at right around c and he bucked like a long time stopped. I thought it was over. Nope he bucked again and bolted. At a i fkew head first into the wall after he did a sharp turn or circle thing. Im okay now tho at least.
How did thT even happen? I haven’t fallen off in over a year and my pony is an ass and ivw never fallen of him (ive had him js over a year but fell of the one i had before loads
I fell of yesterday! I was riding bareback and with a halter and he spooked at me because i sat to far back😅 he ran away and bucked me off🤣 my friend was in shock😅 luckily it didn't hurt😉
Actually this is not true. Some riders, like me, have good balance. When it comes to bucks, rears, spooks, and bolts I am able to sit because I have good balance. I’ve only not sat a spook once so far only because he sped up to the side and dumped me.

Your horse is beautiful, I’m glad you landed on your feet! Hope you and your horse are okay
When I fall I always say “I didn’t fall it was just an equine-assisted gravity check” 😂
never try and grab onto the fence, it is really dangerous and so much safer too just let yourself slide off
True, but when you’re about to fall you probably aren’t thinking straight.
@@HenslayHassey you really don’t think about it there’s no time but next time for anyone who does ride just let it happen you can’t stop it

Ive done this! No stirrup canter to trot is the WORST only done it a few times, ever since ive been determined to stay on lol

I feel you LOL, Hate no stirrups
how did that even happen 😭
It is possible that there was a sudden turn, or lost the stirrup or balance
You can lose balance easily if you panic or you feel unsafe in the saddle.
Also sometimes your body just goes.
It looks like she was riding without stirrups as you can see them crossed over the horse's withers.
it’s not a fall, more a graceful dismount haha x
Every time I do no stirrups I feel like I’m going to fall off and my trainer yelling at me does not help 😭
