The post at 38:19 was quite clearly written by ChatGPT - it's incredibly obvious with the opening sentence, and the "Best Regards" at the end, essentially hallmarks of any request to "write me a letter to somebody", and a lot of its wording matches the sort of generic, formal pleasantries that are very common of it. I think this makes it even funnier.

Best ban of all time would be user, Darkside on Guild Wars 2 for me.
Ppl on the forums had been complaining about a hacker for a while so eventually a Dev went and recorded himself logging onto the hackers account and killing the character in game (jumping off a ledge) and then deleting the character.
The dev then linked the youtube video on the forums to the people complaining about the hacker, it was only an alt account but the dev want and banned the other accounts to.
Definitely my favourite ban in video gaming just cause it’s the dev logging onto a hackers character.

Serious question here... why are there so many (American) streamers that are just ragey as all hell? It's rampant in so many games. In League you have Dantes, TFBlade, Tyler1(The one who kicked it all off in the first place) and so many more. In TFT You have Soju and some others(I don't remember their names) In Apex Legends Hai is a rager on his stream and there's Mason here in Dota.... They're all American.... they're all ragers.... they're all popular. Something has gone wrong somewhere, even if some of them are genuinely world contenders at their respective game. Should there be some kind of reform in schools or some shit to help people(maybe men?) with their emotions(or our online/social media/etc interactions as a whole) or are these games honestly just setup so poorly that they're needlessly frustrating? (Attention economy is everywhere... making people play these games more is frustrating players... making people doomscroll more is ruining our mental health, etc)
I think the first point about Americans being toxic because of the culture does not have enough evidence. I think people enjoy seeing people rage and act out, they are good and they rage, they have an English speaking audience and that’s why you see them. I do agree with the last point that young people see poor emotional regulation as being cool
DOTA 2 doesn’t get anything meanwhile we’re all still sitting in the Train, DD2 and Cache waiting room that could’ve been done in 3 months or so if they had the team to do it employed.

I understand why pros have smurfs, and one of the ways to make both parties (mby not happy, but atleast not mald) is every pro gets an unranked immortal account (those are like 7-7.5k i think) on where they can do their "smurf" stuff like try builds or play with friends blah blah. They dont gain mmr, they dont lose mmr, Its a set number. Valve finds a way to fight the smurf tracker website, so these accounts stay anonymous (unless to expose themselfs ofc)
Nightfall having 9 smurfs because he keeps winning games on them and getting them too high mmr is just what happens naturally. So making new smurfs is all they can do. And banning them all leaves them with 30min-1hr Q even after they "fixed" the problem.

just to be clear, with the bans and trading. If its a game ban like this one. The developer of the game can elect to trade ban you if they wish. Now with valve, they do trade ban you for a game ban in cs. I don't know about dota, but i assume its the same.

Dota's honor system sounds so far beyond league's it's embarrassing. Imagine actually knowing what your score is and where you are on the timeline. That would make such a huge difference.
I'm a cs guy, and I play a game of dota like once a month and I see so much cool content I see in dota that Christmas patch felt like an operation, or better than that. Holy dota is spoiled for content

I put 3.5k hours into dota, but haven't played in a couple years. I never yelled at a teammate, I never intentionally fed and 90%+ of players are the same, even at a relatively high level (I climbed from 700mmr to divine). Mason's antics have pissed me off so much over the years (and Quinn more recently). It is genuinely unacceptable and whether it is performative for his stream or not, it should not be welcome in the space. This is a perma ban Valve should uphold. There is more than enough public evidence of wretched behaviour on his part for it to be justified.
Also, there were genuinely maybe 3 times ever over the years that I knew i was playing with or against a smurf, it is an overstated probably. Most players are just better when they are playing from ahead.

Id say this patch was happening before the new year so more time to balance it before Ringmaster. Muerta was released on a larger letter patch so who knows

The dota community was pissed about the patch because we were promised an event (frostivus) where they would be releasing Arcanas as they were missing from the TI 'compendium' this year. I personally wasn't 'pissed' but rather just disappointed as Valve are known to raise expectations to a degree and then not deliver.

I am for real fucking shit at dota around 3k elo but I write and flame and just do stupid shit sometimes (I never grief or feed or whatever) But i somehow have 11161 in behaviour and communication scores. I wonder what the fuck he did for real to be banned for that long LOL
he shared account to a boosting service to improve his behaviour score. Several months before frostivus event, valve dropped new behaviour system which was kinda unstable and pretty much wasn't a finished product at that time.

Is it being entitled if the game is still highly profitable for valve and they don't really communicate anything? Like the original canceled Diretide? Or dropping the compendium entirely, even though it's a pretty big drive to play the game and bring in new players.
We mostly just wanted better battle passes, like being able to unlock an arcana from the $10 pass if one played plenty.
Yes it is, other very profitable valve games don’t get even near the same amount of support and no one complains. Dota just attracts vocal man children more.

You definitely can lose bh score by not talking or typing. People will just report others if they simply dont like how they're playing. But yh they probably were doing shit to get reported for the most part.

I will never understand people that overly-rage at annoying stuff happening in games, why? In CS, you literally, objectively speaking, get your lost elo BACK if a cheater is banned. Sure, you might loose a small bit if you had one on your team. But if you lost a lot by 1 or 2 and they in fact get banned, you re-gain the elo. I have lost global elite, woken up the day later, seen that my former Supreme Master First Class rank was gone and replaced by Global Elite. NOW, this was the old CS elo system. I am unsure what's going on today because i don't really care too much. But i am gonna assume it's the same, so why cry? Just play good and perform a bit better. Win that extra round, loose less elo and get that fat rebound, what's so hard about this? It's so damn easy, it's literally automatic because of the overwatch system. What i, once more, reflect on, is how dogwater Valve has been at communicating that this in fact was a system and how it worked. SURE, there exist like 1 absurdly old 2013 reddit post about it that i saw and archived and now have forgotten where i stored the long to that post for, sure. But god DAM is it really our job to plaster a great system's functions on the walls so people learn of them, when it's Valve's great feature? Seemingly they don't want to quench the inane childish hatred of deranged fans and childish gamers. And they have failed to pick up on this for over a decade as far as i can tell. Especially in CS! I still can barely fathom that Gabe used the word "narcissistic injury" in that Half life 1 documentary, surely not old knowledge in him with how his Valve dev squad has dropped the ball countless times all across the board.
If you're GE it means you can apply yourself enough to get good at something. The vast majority of people can't do that and would rather have everything handed to them without producing any effort. For example the "elo hell" people are saying exactly this: "I want my rank to magically increase without me doing any effort to get better at the game"
Valve's corperate structure lets developers work on things they find interesting, if they dont like it they try another project.
Bans in dota or get kicked into the shadowrealm for a while doesnt give everyone else their mmr back, if its gone its gone.

The Problem with cheaters (at least in my opinion) is not the lost ELO if you play a cheater, but the time wasted. I have limited time to play games i like and spending half an hour in a match with a cheater where it is obvious you cant win (or its a forgone conclusion that you win) is not fun. The wasted time is what annoys me and that is the same no matter what game i play.

People who are against smurfing are being ridiclous imagine going like this "oh no I am against Faker ban him for smurfing". What is even a point of playing ?

simple rule is, only one account for one player. Break the rule, get flagged/warning then banned.
So why is smurfing not allowed? Back in the day lots of players would do free to play challenges for Hearthstone. Different times and different companies I guess.
This is a lot different. For higher rated players to play with friends who are lower rated there are a few rules. Immortals(highest ladder rank) can only play with divine (second highest), but there cannot be more than 2k mmr difference. The lower rated player will also be counted as an immortal in rank for this match. The mmr delta is higher for lower ranks, but they will still get a higher level of matchmaking. This is important to understand as to why you would smurf. To maybe play with friends. So you get a smurf account so you get simpler games for your friends, but you would most likely stomp the opponents. Smurfs also do solo queues and can litteral outplay an entire team of lower rated players.
Other reasons to smurf for immortals are long queue times. If youre at the top, it can be hard to find games. Other reasons for pros is to hide what heroes they are practicing
