Heimerdinger was the 'de facto' leader of the council, she was just really good at winning people over to her side through manipulation. Being a 'kiss-ass' is a crucial skill when trying to get to the top in politics.
To be fair, the counselor IS seen struggling with the toy for the rest of the series, so it was a good gift after all 😂

@@erencanaslan7989 Nah, religious trauma. I'm half joking, but from what I've heard from a lot of people that hate them is that they sound very similar to neo-christian church music. They also are so popular that inevitably some people just get sick of the genre.

I got sick of them when Radioactive came out and it was *everywhere*, and many of their songs sounded very samey (in the bad way). I do like their inclusion in Arcane, I think it fits thematically and the sound fits the setting.

That "robot" is actually a being speaking another language and the mask is just translating in real time into English. If you rewatch the scene, you can hear his native language at a lower volume before translation... It gave me goosebumps

I love all your theory's because it highlights just how good the writing is in Arcane. Any other show and a bunch of your theory's would pan out but this show is more unique than that.
I'm sure there are a hundred other comments about it, but Imagine Dragons and the company heading this show, Riot games, have a really deep connection. They've performed multiple times for the huge yearly competition (which is one of if not the most streamed video game finals ever), and collaborated a bunch. They've nearly missed some shows of theirs because they were playing the game this show is based off of, League of Legends.
I'm not the biggest fan of Imagine Dragons and alt rock in general, but you have to admit it's always impressive when a band becomes so popular their sound becomes "generic" because it's spawned a whole new music subgenre.

I would describe Imagine Dragons as Pop Rock, though some of their songs are closer to Alternative Rock. They're known for including more instruments and style than the base Alternative, though.

Not impressive. Happens often actually. Genres/bands like that come and go multiple times a generation. Popularity doesn't equal quality. Just ask Limp Bizkit and the "NuMetal" genre, or Skrillex and the "Dubstep" genre. Both of which, nobody cares about anymore. Very popular for a handful of years, until people realize how repetitive and heartless it is. There are many more examples but those 2 paint the picture well enough

The scene from 00:56 - 2:29 is so beautiful I love it. Not many words, the music is great the scenery, the mystery of who this is and what is going on is phenomenal.

One of the best signs of how devilishly well this series is written is the fact that so many people who don't know the characters can come up with interesting but wrong theories about them. And even those of us who played League years ago are not quite sure about the fate or past of some of the characters.

If you don't like Imagine Dragons maybe you'll have some issues with episode 5 😁 Jokes apart, the band is quite involved with League of Legends (the game this show is born from) and provided songs for the game itself so it was probably the most obvious choice.

I mean, they do sound a lot like a Church band, obviously they`re not because they`re from Vegas and pro-LGBT rights but their songs definitely do give off that Church band vibe especially with all the lyrics about demons, beliefs, don`t do drugs and apocalypses.
It's a measure of how traumatized this world is by that mage war that even Heimerdinger-who is from a race that is inherently magical-is afraid of magic.
If you hate imagine dragons, you can mute it and throw on Greenday's version of "I fought the law and the law won". It's the exact same tempo, and it lines up weirdly well. (Adele's Skyfall would probably work even better if you started it a verse before the chorus, but that thing is looong and doesn't get going until way after the one minute mark.)

Vague body type and face shape similarities I guess. Still though.
Honestly, it's probably because in general whenever a character deviates from the "traditional" body type, like commonly if a female character is stockier, that usually signifies some type of intercharacter relationship, which is the most heavy handed and popular way to show a connection between two people. Arcane doesn't follow that "tried and true" method and so can throw viewers for a loop.
This was the episode that REALLY got me rooting for Vi. She was willing to put herself on the line to save her sister and made the call to turn herself in. Now, it may not have been the right decision, but it was still ballsy, and I respect that.

I’m seeing a lot of arguments in the comments about imagine dragons, and i can’t tell over text what’s sarcastic/jokey criticism Vs real criticism.
Just thinking the music sounds bad is fine, that’s just subjective.

They have the sound of easy to sing along stadium pop rock that sounds like what some religious rock bands copy and replace with vaguely or not so vaguely religious themes.
Imagine dragons is mainly Mormon so idk why that would play into it that much, they've actually been super chill and accepting of other religions and lgbtq+ despite making terrible music.

@@alisonfields4688 Arianna was speculating that Viktor and Silco were related (because they're both pale skinny guys with gaunt faces I guess), which would be strange since Viktor has a somewhat Czech accent while Silco is more Virginia with a hint of Transatlantic.
If it haven't been mentionned yet, the rest of the show is emmotionally charged. Knowing the girls temper, I recommand tissues, just in case.

I dont blame u for being lost during that snowstorm scene as even League of Legends players cant agree on who it was that saved them. There is 1 guy referenced most named Ryze but there are clear things pointing to the fact that it cant be him that we trully have no ide who it actually is and Riot havent said who it is either. Just know that there are alot of very advanced magic in this world that is both very usefull and very VERY destructive.

I relate so thoroughly with the thoughts y'all have in regards to the soundtrack 😆🤣 I just can't get behind imagine dragons. The tertiary score is fine. But whenever they add in their own songs I want to roll my eyes right out of my skull 🙄 They'll definitely go down as the "Limp Bizkit" of their generation. Finally someone notices that you are supposed to sign every page in a well maintained lab-journal. Usually with date, so that you cannot change it later. In fact, a second scientist should sign your finished notes after checking them, so that no mistakes are made. Victor is being snooty about proper lab procedure. @@andrastarsoly7320 ep 1-2 are the intro. Ep 3 is when people decide if they like the show or not. It's usually the ALL IN episode for most people but the show is not for everyone. We'll see if they like it or not.

I just felt that they have been pretty passive up until now, getting hung up on hating Imagine Dragons, etc. Maybe the background is missing from playing League as all the characters, world and story can be a lot to make sense of during the first 3 eps without any prelim knowledge.

I think having Imagine Dragons do the intro (and later have the band featured) was the only decision I disagree with. Every other aspect of this show is fantastic: writing, animation, voice acting. They get a pass from me!
Do you know the relationship Riot has with Imagine Dragons? Having the band who has become famous for and already done live concerts performing music they made for the game trailers seemed like both literally and poetically the appropriate band to do the music for the intro.

I´m fine with the intro. It´s a perfect way to feature them in every episode, yet you can skip it and don´t loose anything important: I personally like Imagine Dragons, but ep. 1 intro was enough for me, skipped it in every other episode :D
And as for their featuring in ep. 5, transition in the middle of their song to Marcus and then Jayce was fine, but that sudden transition back from Viktor was like fist in my face, hate it so much. :D
