I have operated that 45 ton wrecker before. I learned so much from Charlie he in my mind was the best recovery man on the planet. I spent several weeks in Dayton Ohio with Charlie and Bill from Woodys recovering a barge that sank on a American Agg pit. I helped Charlie on several recoverys. RIP Charlie.

This was extremely well anchored and rigged, and it was really very impressive to see!
To have recovered this major piece of heavy equipment from the bed of a lake was some achievement, and it was fascinating to see the means by which this was accomplished.
I assume that this was fresh water and that the machine would be rebuilt, or it was recovered by the insurance company whom underwrote it's loss.
Thank you for sharing this unique marine salvage operation, it's nice to see such professional operations as this.

I do understand that it take BIG equipment to get BIG equipment out of a situation like this and your rigging was a masterpiece of brains and obviously experience, AMAZING job on this and impressive in every way. I can be pretty creative but would not have had a clue of what it actually took to make this happen!!!

I just read through damn near 400 comments. Here are some observations...
    Most people can't spell.
A lot of people are upset that this is a slideshow, but I just imagine that this took place before everybody had smartphones.
A few people liked the 80s cockrock soundtrack, but most didn't.
The vast majority just want to know what led to the dozer being underwater, in the first place. I'm in this group. The only reason I was willing to read through all these comments was to see if that question was answered.
    It never was.
    So, in light of that...
HOW DID THIS BULLDOZER END UP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LAKE???

Well, jimmy was on controls and see, he just bought a brand new truck. Thur he was, admiring from afar, well a damn stray cat jumps on hood of it. Chester, the owners dog caught wind of the cat and started jumpin all over the drivers side fender. Jimmy started screaming and jumps out of the D9 running full sprint, which is kinda funny seein as jimmy don’t run most of time cause one legs shorter then the other anyway, so owner man comes out n says sorry bout the truck man but you shouldn’t keep your lunchbox on the hood and the cat wouldn’t have gone up there and the dog wouldn’t of taken chase.. you follow? Right then he says,,, I thought you were driving the D9? Jimmy looks behind him just as the roof starts disappearing beneath the smooth waters surface and he pauses for a moment and says sorry about the dozer man but you really should of paid to get the safety switch under the seat fixed seein how she didn’t stop when I got up and ran over here. You follow?

    • @invisiblewithlibertyandjus8458
      @invisiblewithlibertyandjus8458 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Your assumptions are damn near retarded. It isn't that most people can't spell, it's that people don't go back and read their texts before posting and almost every single time, there is a spell check mistake made by the phone and the person just didn't catch the mistake. Cocrock? Really?! You probably listen to some type of hip country, pop, rap garbage, because you clearly do not have a inkling of what really good music and musicians are, if you did, you would know that Tesla plays all their own instruments and writes all their own songs. Also, by the time the viewers click on another video, they have completely forgotten about what they just watched and the reason for why that dozer wound up in the bottom of that lake. And it truly takes a very boring human life, with way to much time to waste to read through 400 comments to find out the answer to a question that honestly, dosen't matter anyway. People like you, think you are smarter than a fifth grader but in reality, would be burned at the stake by one.

I enjoyed this montage. People are critical of everything. If it were in "video" format, people would bitch due to an unsteady camera. Pulling a massive piece of machinery like this from water isn't a 5 minute job. I'd be willing to guess 10 hours minimum. Oh, and the "girl" screaming? Yeah, that's a dude. It's Tesla. If you didn't grow up in the eighties, you certainly can't appreciate it. Don't like it? Move on.

I like the music! There are a few clues as to how it came to be in the lake. It’s upright, no visible damage, cement block beam pieces nearby. Probably, the lake filled up unexpectedly and/or it was forgotten to be removed in time. Nice rescue. Thanks for the mention that it is now running again.

But, yeah, those old machines weren't hard to start if one knew how to MacGyver it.

Probably as the water got to the air filter it collapsed the filter and the engine smothered, and maybe a little water got passed it and in the cylinders.
So maybe it didn’t hydraulic lock and bend a rod ,or whatever worse can happen to a running engine.
That’s a terrible thing to happen to a machine.
Has there ever been an answer as to how this happened.

Did the machine go through the ice when the lake was frozen over? It surely can't of been driven that far into the lake the engine would have hydrolocked as soon as it took a lung full of water.

Wot! Didn't they have digital cams in 1715? You managed to record the music from the elevator of your local mall though.....well done, gold star for trying.

A lot. That motor is probably toast. As is about everything else. You’d virtually have to replace every fluid. Electrical related items. I couldn’t imagine. Maybe someone refurbishes these rigs but gotta be insane work to do.

My question is how does a D9 get that far out in a lake? Answer me that.
