    Thank you for posting it. I've watched eight different real estate photographers today, explaining and teaching how they photograph interiors. What I liked the most was, no one does it the same way! The only common, and logical, point was: use a wide angle lens. Everything else, from positioning to lights, from outside the window view to light paintings, all is different and unique to the style of the photographer! Not to the property, but to the style of the photographer.
    Great ideas. No one size fits all. Thanks again.

    I recently met a local real estate guy, and he loves my photography. I told him I am retired,and work for fun/free. But he said lets pay you cash! So I found your video, which I must say should be called a master class as I learned so much on how to photograph a home, and then process. The fun thing is that I can use your process in other forms of photography. Well done!

    8:18 "The whole concept here is prepping your ambient shot to work with your flash shot … and it only takes a minute..."
    The guidance and instruction is fantastic! But I am a long way from it only taking a minute. Knowing which buttons to push, levers to pull, and sliders to slide in order to get the ambient shot lined up with the flashes takes a lot of experience. Thanks so much for shortening the learning curve, but I can see the work I still have ahead of me.

    Rich, thank you so much for this tutorial. It really opened my eyes to the possibilities with using this technique. I am new to Real Estate Photography, and have been using a HDR technique up until this point with somewhat disappointing results if i'm honest. I feel like this will be one of those videos I come back to again and again for a quick re-lesson.
    You've really sold me on the sky replacement as well, I am in Ireland, so it's almost always a dull overcast day! I could see myself using that a lot. Have you done a tutorial video on how to do that? If not I would love to see one.

    Thanks Rich. I am an amateur who doesn't even do real estate but I am interested in how to light interior/exterior and blend them together. I think that I'm beginning to get the hang of this stuff. My biggest initial problem was the mask. It seemed counter-intuitive to apply a mask to a layer and then paint it back in! I struggled to recall the detail that needed to be painted. Of course swapping from white brush to black did the trick when I screwed up. After watching about 10 of your videos I am beginning to get there. Your easy, gentle descriptive style helps me to understand the technique. Great stuff. Thanks again. I am learning a lot and enjoying your presentations. David Bailey, UK.

    Hi Rich, thanks for this video, amazing for me being a neebie! One quetion I had was this, when I apply the full bump preset and then sort the verticals in the image. If I then use the final bump preset it then removes the vertical correction. How can I stop presets from overriding prevously applied presets? Cheers

    • @RichBaum
      @RichBaum  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you make your preset you need to not include any perspective correction.

    Hey Rich, such a great tutorial, incredibly informative. Thank you so much for creating this amazing content and sharing it. Much appreciated. I am just wondering about the lighting you use, you had stated in the video at 14:27 you only used one flash to light that room. Was it a strobe or a speedlite? Thanks in advance Rich. Keep on making this amazing content.

    What is better: Shoot using 3-5-7 bracketed images and marge them in Photoshop (HDR), or use 3 different flash shots lighting different areas (like you did in this tutorial?)... Awesome tutorials - Thank you very much :)

    • @RichBaum
      @RichBaum  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well as I use lighting I can't comment on HDR but trust me, I went to using lighting like I do as it's a better option than HDR in the long run.

    Hi Rich! I have a quick question for you and hopefully you can help me out! How do you figure out what shutter speed you should use when snapping your ambient and flash shots?
    (I own a Sony A6400 w/ a Samyang 12mm and also have an evolv 200 light)
    Hoping to get into real estate photography this month, thank you for all the help!

    Is there a general rule of thumb to use when figuring out what the flash settings should be as compared to the ambient shot? Specifically shutter speed and power.

    • @RichBaum
      @RichBaum  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is something you learn over time. Now I can look at a room and depending on how big, the color of the walls and furniture and if there are windows I can usually eyeball it.

    OMG, your images and editing skills are magical and just beautiful. I just took my first real estate home project and I didn't take a flash and ambient image but I will do that from now on. I am in Lr and what I am trying to do is pretend I did it correct by taking one image and making one ambient and the other flash and then combine the two with the steps you used in Ps. I'll update you of my findings but the home I took images of didn't have any furniture. I imagine I will need to find a video with only the rooms without furniture. But thumbs up and I am subscribing because I just may have another opportunity to do this!

    Thank you Rich. I just discovered you. You seem like the nicest guy and I love the way you explain your tutorials. You don’t oversell your affiliates, even though we know you gotta make a living. I’m super impressed and I learned a ton just on this video alone. I’m surprised at your subscriber number. You are way better than it suggests. Just a matter of time I think. 😊
    One question. I’m a newbie to this. Your shutter speed is around 1/40th. Is that to let as much detail in as you can for the ambient light? And what shutter speed are you using for the flash?
    Many thanks. Subscribed for life now. 😊
    I have way overspent on new camera gear and literally have no money in the bank. What would you suggest for manually making your presets? They look great and I imagine it would be good to get into the habit of using them to tweak a little rather than tweaking a lot from the original raw pic. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.
    Sincerely,
    Tod. A new fan from down under. As we would say here, ‘Good onya mate’.
