I think it's because it's a new developer working either alone or in a very small group. He/they mean well but still need to improve their craft and lack of a bigger team means less critical and on point feedback. I like the feel of this game overall but I do think quite a few things still are very clunky. It's still entertaining to watch either way.

I don't seem to think of it as boring. In fact I think the principle of developing your own theories of what is going on and continuing to go through the story line to solve the plot's puzzle is very entertaining. I also enjoy the whole thing of reality fusing with a child's memories of a not so great childhood causing severe chaos. The fact of the matter is people don't seem to think about WHY a horror scenario is there. I mean the thing is you have to think why in Claire's nightmare of her being a child with her parents had such a trashed house as well as why the hospital itself is trashed. As you may gather from these scenes is that Claire does not live in a very middle class life. Her childhood was probably filled with parents fighting about money and other problems as well as children antagonizing her for being in such a poor state at home. In the beginning the bitter bear and the other bears were ending a sort of relationship. This was probably brought in as to hint that her parents were actually arguing and the argument wiggled into her dreams.
Chaotic Niki I remember him answering to a 'uguu' comment on Okami. I guess he just replies rarely and that there are so many comments that it's impossible to see when it happens.

I can get frustrated with games like these, even while watching a let's play... I dunno why, but this style is just sooooo repetitive and boring. You can have some great bit of graphics and animations and effects with this style, but its the same damn walls, the same stupid chairs and trash, the same drawings and mostly the same candles that just make navigation very aggravating. Not impossible, just annoying, unejoyable, not very appealing to play in a game... At least not for me though. Still, Cry makes this video entertaining as usual, I just can't help but think about the hours of gameplay where he's doin literally nothin' xD
I think it's a pretty cool thing. Because it confuses the player (at least it does to me). Like you forget where you have been and where you haven't been. You feel familiar and yet lost. I understand what you mean about it being aggravating to navigate but it does help to make the game scary as long as it's not taken too far and at least so far I think it's not done that in Claire. :)

It's a great way to build atmosphere, and this game isn't by any means 'bad' whatsoever. :) But personally, there've been a lot of games similar to this that use the same style, and I still think that the style tends to look very repetitive. It's one thing to disorient and confuse the player, it's a totally other thing to annoy them. The objective of a game is to entertain, and when you get unintendedly angry, it really detracts from what the game is supposed to do. But then, at least this game has a logical map and it's easy to simply go and investigate every door. And I'm sure it gets more exciting later on, but for now... I just kinda hope Cry doesn't get too frustrated.

Maybe the candy kills her or something, and when she was asked about her parents she said "Maybe they don't have to worry anymore." I'm getting a vibe from this game that says throughout, it tells the tale and gives juicy information regarding the story in checkpoint flashbacks and level changes (If there are any). Not too detailed at the beginning, but not entirely throwing the whole plot in at the very end, just stretching it out evenly like when you pull a wad of taffy so that the story's fascinating from beginning to end while keeping you captivated in the gameplay. I'm having this deep, sinking feeling about Ani, though, that just me? Maybe I get attached to the canine companion too easily.

The map is quite confusing, like there's so many doors with nothing behind them, so many dead ends... It's so easy to get lost! I love the ambiance tho...
This game so far really is like a bunch of awesome horror games mixed into one. Even the Map and switching through the inventory noises sound like the ones from Silent hill 2...neat! :D

Yeah, that's why I didn't like Lone Survivor. It just felt way too hard to go everywhere. But so far I'm enjoying Claire.
