I completely agree with the message here. I got a job a few weeks ago after several failed interviews, and I think a big reason why I got it was that I leaned into my archetype during the interview. It’s much more impactful to talk about your real strengths and what you are really into and excel at than it is to put up a front of what you think they are looking for.

Cap, my beautiful man, what a video. I'm not really into status game, so I went into watching the vid as entertainment, and ended up glued to the screen, rewinding some moments and taking all the notes. Synchronicity, watched True Detective for the first time ever few weeks ago and brought it up as well. Wow.
Your content is gold, I love everything you produce. I also never felt you're faking, or fronting, even past year or so. You always felt as a real person to me, passionately caring for anything you do. You're practically the only person I watch from all big (and small) 'self-development' YT-bers. Love you, Cap. Stay glorious.

    Amazing video.
Two thins that stuck to me from this video the most:
    1. Live the archetype. It makes the activities you do be so much more meaningful. Like the Batman example - having a physique or money is much more impactful than just having the physique for the sake of having one. This definitely separates the high level creators from the rest. They have a much more interesting story. Definitely something I need to think about.
    2. Don't front it. This hits home. Sometimes trying to 'fake it till you make it' or just pretending to be something you wish you were. Instead identifying who you want to be and actually doing those things day in and day out.
    Very deep stuff

Thank you Nikhil, I love you!
You inspire me to be more often in my inspired and great state of mind and make better decisions.
Personal written expression in a public place:
In my journey I am building an agricultural robot for like 4 years in the time outside my day job, my plan is when I finish the prototype is to build a company with it as the first product. I made a lot of progress but I could have done more and I know why, I am not always the person I want to be, there are phases, there are phases that I am focussed and others that I am just paralysed by being overwhelmed. Also I feel that I need to finish my robot to become worthy of others admiration to and inspiration to work with me on my things and yet at the same time, this project is huge and I am doing all alone and I know I need help to develop it faster because my job takes a lot of time and energy from me daily and distracts my focus a lot, and I don't have extra money to hire anyone besides the one I get from my job. I know I will figure it out, this dilema and obstacle that I face.

  • @evanleeder9136
    @evanleeder9136 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Great video. You nailed it, especially in regard to the awkward shirtless selfie. Think about it. What is more engaging? Posting a shirtless mirror selfie from a bathroom or revealing your physique while traveling in a tropical location while pursuing something more meaningful? (such as writing a travel blog or playing sports internationally)
"If you're too many things, you're nothing"
I think there is truth to this. Although, I don't think one's archetype has to be limited to one pursuit. Henry Rollins is a musician, stand-up comic, weight lifter, author, and actor. He may not be "the best" in any field but still better than most in all of them. Rogan is a martial artist, TV show host, fitness enthusiast, psychedelic experimenting, ringside commentator, and runs the largest media platform globally. Your archetype doesn't have to be someone who does one thing better than all but someone who does many things better than 99%. Specificity doesn't have to be limited. It can be choosing to deliberately pursue a handful of things and not wasting time on what's not important.

  • @GOD999MODE

Status and social proof are embedded into our biology. While you can break through it with charm and a certain level of honesty, integrity and passion for what you do, at surface level, most women will judge a man based on how they move in society and what social circles they are a part of. You're valued much higher if you have strong influence within those hierarchical social circles.
But none of these things are realistic aspects to be focused on. The best any man can do for themselves is work hard to be great at the things within their control.
You can always choose to be fit, eat healthy, look better, and stay committed to medium to long term goals (education, job, community service, extracurricular hobbies, etc.). Being a well rounded and adaptable individual despite your social standing in life is a major trump card, once the facade of initial impressions wears off. Those are the things that stand the test of time.

I really enjoyed watching this. You've shown a very interesting angle, in an encapsulating video. The big underline of this is PURPOSE. Find your purpose and diligently work on it until you succeed. In return, you get a great social life and respect from the people around you, which turns into status. All things that just make life more enjoyable.
If you choose a different lifestyle, with no purpose, where is the meaning?

  • @DerDudelino
    @DerDudelino ปีที่แล้ว +18

Easiest one: Wear suits. You'll feel 10x more successful immediately, have more charm and come over professional. If you wear a hoodie, no one will treat you with respect unless you are already a superstar. I've tried that many times - you wear something casual in a hotel bar, no one talks to you, because they think you don't matter. You wear a fine suit, you get in a conversation immediately - whether it be to create a dating situation or a business conversation. Trust me - get out of your hoodie, it's the worst habit someone can get used to.

    • @-whackd
      @-whackd ปีที่แล้ว +1

The reason why people are using a hoody regularly is because they are not headed to a hotel bar or trying to sell some insurance. Wearing a suit if you have no reason and when you are in the wrong area is complete insanity. You'll be known as the car salesman guy if people get to know you.
My guess is that you put on a suit every time you go for sushi?

But, the more I think about it:I love interviewing people, searching for truth or knowledge, and making life better for people. So, even if I can't be a PI, atleast I know what I want to work with.

Here are a few examples of archetypes that can be seen in real life:
The Leader: This archetype represents individuals who naturally gravitate towards positions of authority and have the qualities of vision, charisma, and the ability to inspire and guide others.
The Nurturer: The nurturer archetype embodies those who have a natural inclination towards caring for and supporting others. They are compassionate, empathetic, and often take on roles such as parents, teachers, healthcare professionals, or caregivers.
The Innovator: This archetype represents individuals who thrive on creativity, imagination, and the ability to think outside the box. Innovators often bring new ideas, inventions, and solutions to the world.
The Sage: The sage archetype represents wisdom, knowledge, and a deep understanding of the world. Sages are often seen as mentors, advisors, or individuals who have accumulated vast expertise in a specific field.
The Rebel: The rebel archetype challenges established norms, rules, and conventions. Rebels can be found in social and political movements, pushing for change and questioning authority.
The Hero: This archetype represents individuals who demonstrate courage, selflessness, and a strong sense of justice. Heroes are often willing to sacrifice for the greater good and are driven by a desire to protect and make a positive impact on others.
The Explorer: The explorer archetype embodies the desire for adventure, discovery, and personal growth. Explorers seek new experiences, whether through physical travel, intellectual pursuits, or spiritual journeys.
The Peacemaker: This archetype represents individuals who strive for harmony, understanding, and reconciliation. Peacemakers work towards resolving conflicts and promoting cooperation in various settings.

Nikhil, female subscriber here. Sorry to talk about something so superficial here: I ALWAYS thought you looked great. (I've been subscribed for years so "always" means since the channel's early days). - AND your looks aren't why I subscribed (I'm here cuz I like the content and you and Thomas). But dang if you were right about the whole body fat percentage thing and its effects on facial appearance.
I always thought you looked great, but your face has definitely glowed up even more since - working on your cut(?). Good job - that's a lot of work.
I do not like everything people have to go through to become more telegenic. It seems a little unfair to have to do even though it's necessary for that particular desired result. But what you've done has worked. You're looking super model good. Just yum! (And seriously - you were yum before - and don't hate me but Thomas too!) 😜
But so yeah - all thru the video i was like "does he really look that good now? Huh, yes he does!"
Give my regards and sympathy to your poor mom with all her amazing Indian home cookin cooked with canola oil but also with love. (Tip: cold expeller pressed raw avocado oil is a good healthy high heat cooking oil alternative although it's still an added fat). Cooking without oil or with less oil is also an option but that might not be a possibility.
I don't know what you're doing there to still share meals - maybe you bring your own meal-prepped food and / or visit in other ways. There's always ways to make things work / work arounds for changing situations. 🙂👍
Also, other commenters are saying they never felt you were a faker or fronter. Me neither! Maybe you've felt like that (and it's good to be aware of so you can fix that for yourself). But for what it's worth, you've always had great content.

If you are addicted to his videos that means you are growing that means your taste is good to learn something on youtube where everyone is behind earning money instead of giving a knowledgeable content like him

Now, I know you say it's more important to find your plot and dig in there, but I think it's very useful to at least map out some adjacent plots, if only to be absolutely sure you don't belong there.
Like, digging into the director archetype is a good idea if that's where your center of gravity is, but I'm sure years spent living as an actor didn't hurt. That's why the writer archetype is so interesting, because they're kind of adjacent to everything-the things you can write about, at least.

You should do a video doing a deep dive into the archetypes and how to optimize each one.
