I grew up in the 70's. We were so into making these out of old Gallo bottles. We would use hangers to get the plants in and bury them. I am so glad they have an easier container to do them in. And they are a lot prettier. Great explanation on the cycle. You do a fantastic job on this tutorial video.

So I'm starting a terrarium soon with lithops. I'm using black, fine pumice to bring out the colors in them. I'm definitely adding a layer of horticultural charcoal, but because I'm going with all black medium I don't really want to use pea gravel on the bottom. Would it be okay to do a 1/2 inch layer of the pumice first, then a layer of the charcoal, then my planting layer of the pumice? Or should I really get a 3rd black larger pumice for the drainage layer? I didn't want to spend anymore money but will if you think the fine pumice would be ineffective/detrimental as a drainage layer. Thx!!
No worries! Thanks! I got the larger pumice for the bottom just to be on the safe side. The whole thing looks amazing! Along with some colorful lake stones it's going to be very cool when the lithops get a bit bigger!

Hello my aquarium is located outside and expose to sun and rain sometimes .
If I made this terrarium do I need to seal the aquarium or not ?
Make sure it is not in direct sun, as the leaves can burn. Just make sure it does not fill up with too much water otherwise the succulents will rot.

Hi Moody.. what happens if the succulents propagate in the terrarium? How can we make sure they just stay as is without propagating
They will eventually grow larger but mine are doing great even at 3 months!
Learned more about charcoal than I learned about terrariums. . . Spent most of the video saying "wait what are you doing there??"

I think perlite is a great idea! Let me know how it goes!! Lithops will be awesome in a terrarium.
