I love this take on Jason, he's my favorite member of the batfamily, the fact that he's so sad and feels like people saw him as replaceable was always one of my favorite parts of his character (probably because I'm projecting) and it's cool to see that side of his character get a spotlight.
Not to mention his history is insane. I don't think any other major DC character as been treated as much of a mess continuity wise as him. At first he was literally a replacement for Dick with a copy pasted back story and personality. It took Crisis (the first major reboot) for him to get an actual character except publishing wise there was still some pre crisis stuff being written and even with post crisis writers didn't 100% know what they were doing with him. The confusion led to reader frustration and his eventual death. Then it took superboy prime's reality altering punch to bring him back to life and then yet another reboot to make him definitively an anti hero and member of the bat family (and not just murderous psychopath). His character is rather poetic. Seen as just a replacement and stepping stone both in universe and in real life. His character was a lot of seconds and firsts that writers didn't know how to handle. He defined how Robins in the future would be done (mostly that they needed their own character/personality and to a much much harder time than Dick), but was himself a failure due to the writing (unfortunately even post crisis a lot of his best stories as Robin, you can barely even tell it's Jason under the mask with a lack of defining traits). He's constantly beaten down by the rest of the bat family and writers for not following the status quo and being in a morally Grey area (and writers can't decide if that's cool and edgy or if it's cooler to use him as a prop for way Batman is 100% perfect (meanwhile I just want Jason to do his own thing like in Outlaws he doesn't need to be cold blooded killer or a goody two shoes, let him walk the line with some good friends)). One of my favorite characters, which apparently means DC loves to hate him (*cries in Wally West Flash*)
@@blumouse8539 I wonder, who voted for Jason Todd to be killed off anyway? I heard that Jason Todd was killed off and replaced with the third Robin, but I never knew who voted for that to happen. It is lucky that we have the interactive movie to see different endings of his
This is so much better than what I was expecting. Straight home run with this one. Everyone sees Jason as the hard-core violent maniac of the Batfam, but to see his absolute tragedy and sadness portrayed so well... my God, it's just beautiful. On another note, I'm loving all of these more comic based songs from the Nerdcore community. I doubt I'll actually get it, but man if I could ever get a Ghost Rider song, I think I'd lose my mind.
It's easy to look at his actions and not think about what's going on under that mask. Beneath the tough bastard image, he's a broken man who's been scared and hurt all his life, and he uses his anger as a shield. I'm glad he eventually lets Bruce and the Batfamily back in, and I think Gotham Knights gave us a good example of how that could change him for the better.
After hearing this masterpiece, it only makes me wonder how a Superboy Prime song would sound. This was gorgeous. Melancholy, somber, quietly vengeful, dark, but with minuscule rays of hope scattered throughout with major chords to show that Jason isn’t truly lost. He’s hurt, battered, and his soul is in pain. His origin is dark, dirty, and gravelly. He has earned his rage. This was one of Divide’s best works. Thank you for this, sir.
Very interesting choices on this one! Not gonna Lie I was expecting a heavy bass drop after 0:54 but this is hauntingly calm and focused energy. Love it!
yeah, this song is way softer than I expected, but I really love that! it fits Jason Todd as a character way better than all these metal/rap songs he usually gets associated with!
As the biggest Jason Todd/Red Hood fan this is my calling card. I have been summoned and I was not disappointed! I love how you did the vocals and the lyric choices were nothing if not perfect for his character. He's the "Failed" Robin and he's calling out how he won't be who people want him and instead he's taking control of his life after so long of having no control over his life.
There have been many good Red Hood raps but none quite capture the tragedy of Jason Todd like this one. It's beautiful. I must have listen to it more than 10 times now.
I was expecting a style akin to his Dabi song, but he pulled a fast one like he did with the Guts song. That doesn't mean it isn't still great (I was confused by the name of the song until he said it in the chorus)
Doing a character study on him, his transformation into hyper-sanity, reborn in flames, a living result of consequentialism. He's a character study on B.P.D btw, most people don't understand this and make assumptions about how you shouldn't give into anger - without even understanding the psychology behind it. Someone said he didn't keep his promise to batman - he did, if you studied consequentialism, you'd understand that by killing joker - Gotham is now safe, doing a better job than batman ever could. Batman is incompetent.
I was expecting something angry but this really soulful and somber, which not a lot of people explore for Jason, his broken heart. Great work Divide, you're showing great range.
Lyrics: Taken what was mine, stolen Buried underneath the very promise he made Standing by the flames You stoke them And wonder why the end Always seems so far away (Follow and you will see) You can't erase me Lost and found, I crawled out of the river (Why did you have to go?) Of the river (Why did you have to go?) Sealed tight to the end With all my broken bones What do you take me for? What do you take me for? I'll never be what you had dreamed, escape from your "reality" Open my eyes, now I can see what lies beneath You see, I'm gone and who I was will never be Consider it a death in the family A death in the family Consider it a death in the family Air in my lungs Through chamber smoke I've come undone I'm the only hope And yeah, you should fear me And yeah, you should run I'm tired of dreaming Of what should be done I'll never be what you had dreamed, escape from your "reality" Open my eyes, now I can see what lies beneath You see, I'm gone and who I was will never be Consider it a death in the family A death in the family Consider it a death in the family Standing by the flames You stoke them And wonder why the end Always seems so far away
Great song as always. Red Hood is my favorite character in DC, I'm glad you gave him a great song! Divide always comes through with the great music. It's so on character. Keep this up!!! Also the chorus just hits you.....you can almost see Hood telling this all to Batman. It's amazing!!
Out of all of the songs in rap about red hood that I’ve heard so far THIS ONE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Divide Music for this amazing song, please please do more of this for the future!!
Honestly I can't really think of a more perfectly fitting song for Red Hood. This was deeply emotional and powerful in a whole other sense from the norm and it's absolutely amazing. Great work as always Divide.
Jason Todd was such a sad Story, and you absolutely brought that here. How you don't have more viewers, more followers, more subs, I will never know. Your music is original and incredible, and so well put together. Wonderful.
This was awesome and emotional. As someone who doesn't know much about Red Hood, I can tell you that I felt what you were singing. Your writing and storytelling were so top notch that I didn't need to know beforehand. That's how you know something is well written. Keep making great music Divide!
I have never been more hyped to listen to anyone else's music. Every time this man releases a song I expect excellence and he more than delivers every. single. time. I would much rather hear this man on every radio station than whatever else is playing. Jason Todd is my favorite of the bat family and this song is just amazing. Can't wait for another killer song.
I find it neat how Jason was originally hated by everyone when he was first created, to the point where most people voted for him to get axed. Then he comes back as Red Hood and now he's one of the coolest DC characters.
This was amazing, from your great vocals to the amazing video, probably one of my favorite songs from you in 2022, this fits Red Hood so well also I got vibes of your Spider-Man song but more darker. Now we just need a Metalcore song about Dante from Devil May Cry with a very popular metal singer (like Spencer Charnas from Ice Nine Kills perhaps) or a Batman song like this that features Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides and my life will be complete. But overall 10/10 song from you and have a great day my dude. Also you know what superhero you should do next that would fit so well for a song like this, it’s The Crow. I think that would be amazing.
Jasons been through so much. It makes me so happy to see this side of his character get some attention. You knocked it out of the fuckin park with this one. I got chills.

Red hood is probably one of the best examples of how to do an edgy anti hero right, his motives make sense for his character and he still has a likable personality for all that he's done, not to mention all the great story potential to come from his ideology vs batman's

I've read the Under the Red Hood comic as well as watched the animated version. This song perfectly captures Jason Todd's resentment of Batman that is so tragic. The reason he hates Bruce so much is because he loved him so much and feels betrayed by Bruce's inaction and apparent apathy.
pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this!!! Jason is my favorite comic book character and this song does his complicated story justice!!! GOD IT'S SO GOOD I CAN'T GET OVER IT
Jason is an incredibly deep character. More layers than you could ever realize. His ideology almost perfectly matches “Injustice Superman”. They can’t hurt anyone anymore if they’re dead.
A very good song that captures the sad, morbid, and almost puzzled reality of the birth of Red Hood and upseting sacrfices of Robbin and its effcets on Batman and relects his detective nature and up brining.

Oh yeah. Why do you think hurt, damaged, and broken characters are so relatable? Suffering is part of the Human condition.
There is one part I was hoping to see. I kinda feel sad that his Mother's part in his death always gets neglected in the retellings and adaptions.
It was one of the reasons why he despised Tim for a long time.
@Lionard Kirsch No I don’t hate any of them, I said that is the reason JASON hated Tim, because Tim “replaced” him so soon after his death.

Lyrics:
Taken what was mine, stolen
Buried underneath the very promise he made
Standing by the flames
You stoke them
And wonder why the end
Always seems so far away
(Follow and you will see)
You can't erase me
Lost and found, I crawled out of the river

(Why did you have to go?)
Sealed tight to the end
With all my broken bones
What do you take me for?
What do you take me for?
I'll never be what you had dreamed, escape from your "reality"
Open my eyes, now I can see what lies beneath
You see, I'm gone and who I was will never be
Consider it a death in the family
A death in the family
Consider it a death in the family
Air in my lungs
Through chamber smoke
I've come undone
I'm the only hope
And yeah, you should fear me
And yeah, you should run
I'm tired of dreaming
Of what should be done
I'll never be what you had dreamed, escape from your "reality"
Open my eyes, now I can see what lies beneath
You see, I'm gone and who I was will never be
Consider it a death in the family
