Sad news, about an hour after the live stream ended, Murphy started having equilibrium problems. I have deactivated the live Murphy camera and removed it from the website. We are moving him to a quarantine tank. It will have gentle flow and the lights off. Hopefully this will help in some way, however the prognosis isn't good. Earlier in the day, video shows him swimming around and blowing the sand and picking at food/looking for more food. Nothing on camera shows him getting startled or any event leading to this change.
I looked back and the first video with Murphy in the title was over 7 years ago and he was already like 10 inches. And we got him at 3 inches so I think this puts him at 8 years old.
@AquariumCoop I've never even met Murphy, and this made me cry. It is so sad when a pet gets older and goes downhill. I know you will do all you can for him.
I'm so sorry to hear about Murphy. It's heartbreaking when our pets get older and start struggling. You have gave him a great life and I know you will do all you can for him. Sometimes you just run out of options when everything has been tried. You all are in my prayers. On a different note I'm sad that the heaters are gone. I thought they were affordable, extremely easy and a quality product. I never understood bad reviews or rants when there is always a chance of an issue (especially when not used right) when the company is continually improving it and will always make it right with a new heater. I don't get it. The care with every product you make coupled with the best customer service I have ever found in this hobby (or anywhere really) why??? Please don't let this get you down. It's not a failure on you, your crew or your company imo. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do for this hobby! Sorry for the essay, this just made me sad
You are such an admirable person.I learn so much from you, You teach so many things. You have such a sense of humor. You are a model,a good husband. Your love for your wife is beautiful. Your guests are so so wonderful. About having weight it should never never be an issue! I hope you are healthy. I wish I lived near your store. I would have been a forever student of yours. Thank you Corey. Thank you for being transparent. Your love for your fish is catching. I wish you great success and hope that you keep growing. You are a living proof that people who work for you have a good life. A great human Boss. You have a wonderful wife too. It makes me happy that you cheerful and so so smart. 💕
You are a business man as well as a hobbyist. There is no shame in advertising your equipment. I’ve purchased some of your items and am very happy with them. I wouldn’t have known about them if you hadn’t brought them up on YT. I come from Canada to buy Aquarium Coop products. I know I can buy some of it locally now but I do love visiting your shop. Your staff is amazing.
I really appreciate your no nonsense approach. As a beginner in the hobby, it's nice to hear someone advocating for keeping things simple. Are my tanks "Insta-worthy"? Probably not and they give me and my family a lot of enjoyment and peace. Thanks for sharing all of this information! I know I'm grateful for the knowledge.
A family man, cares for grandma. A people person. And Corey you are a handsome man. Clever, honest. Nobody like you. Your warmth and passion to educate is a remarkable gift. Your trips, videos are so incredible! Thanks to your staff.
Sad to hear you won't be selling your heaters anymore, but I appreciate your integrity. It's the reason I buy products from you and will continue to do so.
Hi Cory! Couldn't watch live but watched later. Kid was on the PS5. We really appreciate you and that you stand for doing the right thing. That is more and more rare these days. Finally, we have some time to kick back and enjoy nature daily again. I wish we knew about crayfish sooner. Our daughter brought one home from a camping trip and we put it in the 75 gal. After it ate an Apisto female (maybe you remember I showed you pics of Maynard and Lei Li at Aquashella in Schaumburg) and a horseface loach, we re-homed it to the Rock River We'll be ordering again from you soon. Take care and thanks for being you!
I went to ATL for work several times last year and went to the GA aquarium every trip. It’s amazing and the river scout exhibit is so well done. It would make a great video for Cory or another member of the team get a behind the scenes look at the River Scout exhibit since the behind the scenes tour they offer didn’t cover it.
That sucks about the heaters. I love mine! Idk what heater I'm going to buy when I need another one. All other heaters I've had over the past 15 years suck except aquarium coop's heater. I really hope you bring them back.
Same, every heater I've had has failed in under a year except the AC ones, I have three working same as the day I got them over a year later. I understand where they're coming from but I really hope they bring them back some day 😔
Ive had several of the heaters die but intended to keep buying them as at least you were aware when they had a problem, unlike standard heaters that might sit in the aquarium until something catastrophic happens.
I bought Discus from Mac's Discus in Woodinville WA in person twice, less shipping issues, they did well, back in the late eighties and nineties. Around Christmas and New Years he shuts down for cold weather shipping issues.
I personally buy hundreds of dollars worth of products from aquarium co-op on a monthly basis. Absolutely love everything I get! Been buying for a few years now, I do not get plants from anywhere else. Period. Love the frets and just the company in general. That being said I did order one of these heaters and it was absolute garbage, it worked for maybe two weeks then starting shutting itself off then eventually just quit all together lol I didn’t say anything because, I get it not everything works like it’s supposed to and literally I have never had a problem with anything I got from here before. So I’m glad to hear they are changing things up because those heaters were not the best product. Just another reason why this company understands what’s going on. They pull a bad product once they realize it’s not working!! Keep it up!
Cory, when you talk about 'customer service' , I was a service manager for an 18 store music chain that even sold used gear. If you want to deal with crazed customers try someone who NEEDS this guitar for my next gig, ( in 4 weeks)....My approach was proactive. I would keep the customer in the loop and make it on a personal level. If I told you you'd get an up date by a certain time, you got it.
How i would love an aquarium. I taught myself as a child by checking out library books etc. When we had plastice carner charcol and cotton filters. I kept a tank from 8 years old until 35. Im 60 now. Hubby lost his job and im not able to work. I so dearly miss my fish. Its good for blood pressure too which mine is high. So many new things in the last 25 years i need tonstudy again. I want another 29 gallon half hex . But i will never be able to afford one again. A shame as i have well water again like i did when i was 8 and had 10 gallon tanks. Maybe one day i can find a setup that someone doesnt want to fool with anymore or has one super cheap. I kick myself for selling my 55 and 29 when i moved from a 3 bedroom to a studio apt. I could get a tall 3 gallon for a Betta but i want a tad more activity. And tall and thin isnt the best for a poor Betta. I worked at a pet shop in my twenties and got so tired of explaining how to set up a tank and that no you cant buy the tank today and fish too and you cant buy a fancy guppy to live with a tiger barb or worse yet a baby oscar lol. I took pitty on a couple once and went after work and set up their tank. It was 1986 Houston and their English was not funtional. I could sit in your aquarium room for hours if i had a recliner as i am pretty much bed bound or recliner bound. Want one by my bed. Have the dad get the kids learn about fish and get into taking care of them. If i could do it at 8 and on they can.
He was dying just to say, in fact in that aquarium he was going belly up, his pupils were dilated and he was sore with scales missing and going through he'll. I have worked tirelessly to stop worrying about him too much, he has round pebbles and the water is warm. Keep from putting a heater on and off, and then the element will be okay, as glass conducts heat and one stuck on the side of a glass aquarium will burn out if it is not next to an internal canister filter with a waterfall coming constantly closely but not too closely by it. A heater needs another of water and turning it off and on will shorten its lifespan of working. Lids on tanks, plastic above and constant cleaning water with colder water all adds up to a heater burning out its element. Calibration well, hmm that is a sore point. Thermals of warmth yes, but total warmth. Ahh. No way. Fish can't sweat
thanks for all you do Cory. I wish we had someone like you in Australia. Everyone here just wants to overcharge for everything and gatekeep fish with high prices, even if they breed them up in the hundreds/thousands they wont drop the price. Its a real turnoff for the hobby here. If only we had someone with your ethics stand up here
Ha, I remember a time where the service manager said to the staff about a customer that stupidly is not covered under warranty , we laughed so hard because the guy had run his boat into a sandbar and floored the throttle and filled the boat motor full of sand and overheated it and ruined it oh my
My favorite heater is my cobalt the slim one. I have had some go bad. I don’t think any brand heater is perfect. But the type of heaters I don’t like are glass heaters. I just got a hygger Aquarium heater, it has the same slim form factor I like. So far so good.
We tested the cobalt ones and the parent original manufacturer of those heaters, Aquel. Had failures and the price was high :( But yeah, all heaters have problems from what we can tell.
Completely disagree with the heater decision. I own a 50watt and it’s the best heater I’ve owned. Now I have to settle for less if/when it breaks. Those that bought them know they are good. Who cares about Facebook comments. Bad PR is discontinuing a good product
Hey Cory, I recently had a aquarium Coop heater die, but it was ordered from aprils aquarium in bc as I’m in Canada and you do not ship to Canada, is there still warranty?
I think as a partner store they are supposed to honor all the same warranty that the coop itself would offer. I would contact them and see what they say and if there's a problem contact The Coop themselves

Can you use play sand in the tanks? Can i use a sponge filter instead of the marina 15 filter? I have a 10 gal with a lid can i use a light on top instead of the lid one? I am doing plants and i would like to add shrimp snails and different fish that won't eat the shrimp. And what fish eat on floating plants like the frogbit and the other one i can't remember name. What plants do i need that will help the tank in all stages that keeps the tank water safe? I'm using the natural looking rock but i want to add sand or something else to make a design for the bottom before I put driftwood and rocks and plants. And plants that don't need to have the co2
@@AquariumCoop I didn't know that they had ones with a short gonopodium. That is what always threw me off about them. I might need to get some. Thanks
I hope Cory reads this. The ONLY way I will use a heater again is if it's external, like an adhesive pad, AND it has a temperature probe with warning alarm. Water and electric don't mix, and I refuse to cook/electrocute another fish. I found all my fish with cooked white eyes. Ask Alex at Fish History how it feels. Nope, never again.

I love Aquarium-Coop and the channel. With that being said, I think getting out of the "heater game" is a copout. Many companies have to deal with low statistical percentage failure rates (e.g., Apple) and the PR associated with it. That is part of scaling up. I would hope that the Coop would just take a pause in selling heaters and double-down on trying to change the market for the better and bring a new version to the market.
Hi Cory I wonder if you help me I am 78 years old worked in the aquarium trade and retail in England for many years had to leave to start a family money was very poor in those days .I have bought some wormer as I have hydra in a lot of aquariums due to new plants .Can you help me with the dosage as I am living in Spain retired and very much on my own here I would take full responsibility for treating the fish and love your you tube channel I am addicted to them . If you can give me the doses for the above can you please let me know American gallons or imperial or litres thank you in advance the treatment is panacur 25mg / ml suspension oral fenbendazol liquid .
It really sucks that you discontinued your heaters. I really liked them and I really loved aquarium coop, but now I feel like I can't trust that your products will be reliably on the market. I don't want to buy something and fall in love with it, then oh it's now over a 4% defect rate and gets discontinued. I love aquarium coop. Your customer service, products, informative videos, and all your other videos and great and entertaining. But I can't bring my self to buy your light now because if I do love it and something happens and it gets discontinued that means I would have to start my research and find something else I like all over again. It's easier just to stick with a company that i know is going to have a heater or a light. They might change the style, but it's still a heater from the company I trust. I don't trust aquarium coop anymore. I really want to but I cant. 😢

You could still seel those heaters. My half dozen heaters have worked great.
Just heard the discussion on Vegemite. There is nothing better than fresh toast with melted butter and a thin spread of Vegemite. Lovely!
I definitely know people love it. I haven't had it recently enough to know if my taste buds have changed, but younger me didn't like it.
Glad, i suppose, to hear i wasnt the only one with heater issues.
At ant rate, grey beard is a good look, Cory.

they way your eyes lit up when you got to say "bunghole" lol
Such a rare word to get to use in context lol.

Well I owned two 100watt heaters and they're in the trash now
lol @ “plant manager”. Most people would think that means factory manager. But ACO employee is “manager of plants” (aka things with foliage)🌱 😁
Hi should I choose a external heaters for my ten gallon tanks I have the cheap submersible ones now

Yep, speak with Aprils aquarium and they should take care of the warranty and then we will reimburse them.
So sad about the heaters being ditched completely :(
Sorry about edgar but I remember all the dogs I have lost in life and when it’s ( he’s) not enjoying life it’s his time to help end the suffering he is experiencing sorry again, it’s something my vet told me once about an aged dog, Keith

@AquariumCoop when will you guys restock on marimo moss balls

Yes, yes, yes, hungry ones, stems and floating plants
Any new guppie strains have people seen recently?
The ribbon fin genes have been getting better and better. I just got some ribbon fin glass belly guppies this week from a local store.
@@AquariumCoop That's cool, but doesn't the ribbon fin stop them from breeding unless you cut it shorter or something?
The ones I've been seeing lately, the males don't have the long gonopodium.
@@AquariumCoop I didn't know that they had ones with a short gonopodium. That is what always threw me off about them. I might need to get some. Thanks
Why does my heaters fluculate so in temp.?
Gary Lange is on band 😊
hopefully i get a free membership when 1 million subs is there, i am so excited
I do dumb stuff every day cory ❤❤❤❤don’t judge anyone ❤❤tropical fish are not super easy ❤day after day

Water and electric don't mix, and I refuse to cook/electrocute another fish. I found all my fish with cooked white eyes. Ask Alex at Fish History how it feels. Nope, never again.
All I hear is frequent issues with heaters. One thing that hasn't hit me in 10 years, granted I've only had maybe 5 heaters.
I waited to long to buy a couple more! Nooooooooo don’t make me use Fluval Cory! You gotta do what you gotta do
Whatcha drinking
Sicce has a heater with a 5 year warranty. It's been out for over a year I think. Anyone's thoughts or experiences with this heater? Their pumps are amazing, not a fan of their filters....just wondering how their magic heater is doing against their claim.
I actually like the aquarium Coop heater even though I only had it for about a year but my previous heaters were marineland they have a lifetime warranty they last about 4 years sometimes less. I have a surge protector and one of those ups with the sine wave so it keeps the electric stable. I would like to keep buying aquarium co-op I like the external button for the temperature
Just by adding a lid to any of my tanks(70ish), none of them heated, even in my garage, will increase water temperature 2-3 degrees Fahrenheit...
I found this as well in my testing, including having a square open for feeding int he corner.
I love Aquarium-Coop and the channel. With that being said, I think getting out of the "heater game" is a copout. I think calling it a copout and not fixing it yourself is a copout.
The cord to the heater has my OCD at 1000%%%😂
OMG Now I see it too!
Yeah, It's not it's final form. Been working on changing up the office a bit. I saw it.. but was like, it'll have to do for now.
I have a lot of Sicce Shark ADV filters and, although they are good filters, quality control is not great.

I've had a premium membership for over five years and completely agree with you.

Hmm, not workin?
As they say, let the good times roll! Get it while the getting is good. It's allright
