@Aquarium Co-Op Hey Cory possibly a couple of filter ideas that I really miss. Vortex diatom filter and the old school Supreme Aquamaster. I've used the diatom for different short use maintenance purposes and the Aquamaster was a siphon feed HOB that was actually fry safe without a pre-filter. I broke down years ago and bought a linear piston pump for my rack setup, best investment for sure. I also have a Tetra Whisper on my 2 40g test/experiment tanks 8' from me in the living room. I can't here the pump, just the bubbling of the sponge filters. I also have an Aquaclear on a tank in the living room and can't hear it unless the tank water level gets low.
I really like the diatom filter hang on tank filter that tetra did years ago, they made the return to the tank move so you could have it be a self contained unit that could move from tank to tank.
I've been going the simpler route with my filters, and now use just cheap Tetra whisper internal filters in my four tanks. They are quiet and easy to service, as I just cut sponges and floss to size to fit them. My old cannister filter and Tidal hob filter are now both in storage.
GE silicone 1 does not have mold inhibitors. It’s says something “7 years mold free” because silicone is inherently inhospitable to molds. They changed the packaging, not the formula. Check the sds if you don’t believe me. No mold inhibitors listed.
All my 'rack' systems use air. I have a couple stand-alone display tanks with HOB filters. My totes and ponds sometimes dont have anything at all but tons of high growth plants. Filtration is how you employ the treatment of water.
Mostly due to low sales and bulky to ship and the price. Most hobbyists own a net or two and don't order more online. Minimum order is like a 3 year supply for us lol.
Most likely most filtration will be overkill. A sponge filter in a 75 gallon will keep them alive. After that it's what you are enjoying playing with etc.
@@AquariumCoop Yes, spray paint works! I have mine painted black. I should make a forum post about it. I am working on a glass version for my tank too.
The angelfish is really neat. I order straight from Glofish for their awesome GMO fish. I did have an issue with the Tetras but they refunded me on them. The Cory's are probably my favorite but I had to remove one decor out of the tank after he got stuck down in the silicon tubes two days in a row lol
Hey cory, i know you put CC in all your tanks . Do you just run all your tanks at 7.6-8ph and high GH? Or do you have a secret to keeping all benefits of CC without the super high PH and GH?
I don't run crushed coral in my fish room, because I'm on well water, but we do at the store and my previous fish room. I wouldn't say there is a trick really. Crushed coral takes months to get it to 7.6-8ph. I do water changes regularly, since my tap water is 6.8. This keeps my pH at 7.2 or so. But even if it went higher, I'd prefer it. 7.6-8.0 is just easier to keep fish in my opinion.
I love to over filtration have 2 fx6 on 135 gallon which I’m switching to a eheim 2262 and eheim 2217 then the 75 gallon will have a fx6 and fx4 or fx6
Yes, the new sponge filter is far too long. I ordered the nano and can't use it, I can't shorten it like it is recommended on the video because I'm not mechanically inclined . 😢
Depending how big your aquarium is. Mine is 5gal rimless, and I had that issue. I just cut the top tubing down. I also added a thin cutout of that corse black filter to break up the bubbles even more for more surface volume.
My LFS started to only sell Aqueon Quiet Flow because they were once very inexpensive, dependable, self-starting and easy to customize with filter medium. I am very happy with Quiet Flow. I think they are a 'hidden secret' that most people overlook, preferring the more trendy, fancy filters such as Tidals, etc.
Man if they can't figure out after 1.1M subscribers why they should listen to you and take your advice.. Then that's on them and I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you lol
I would love if you could get yhe member coins to Australia as well, although I understand the logistical issues, costs etc. Could you send a bulk load to Keeping Fish Simple and uf people make a purchase through his website they get the coins included?
I heard you say you have well water does it have high nitraits? We are on Wellwater and are well. Water runs about 50 ppm. So when I do water changes, I’m changing from 50 to 50 nothing is reducing. How do I reduce? I have plants in my tank.
I don't have nitrates in my water. But I'd say stop changing water. Plants are the way to remove nitrates from water. We even use plants at sewage treatment plants.
there is literally less hair algae on that plant behind you then there was at the beginning of this stream
Now I’m wondering what a goldfish roller coaster would look like.
Nothing like an old fashioned whisper 400 humming, to help you sleep. Yes the white pumps from 45 or so years ago.

Rosy long fin barbs !! Bucket list fish . I’m hoping to snag some this year

What a dream fish room omg
Cory, what is the name of your fav Mexican restaurant, the one you took Dean to after you setup your new fish room.
Show us more fish please
I'm sad to hear about the nets being discontinued! I really love mine. Can you share why they are being discontinued?

@@AquariumCoop ah that makes sense then. Well I'm glad I got mine regardless!
Okay - that is NOT how 'current wife' is meant to be used, Bro. 😂🤨
Near impossible to find impellers!
Would using both a sump with a refugium and an undergravel filter on a 75g heavily stocked cichlid tank be overkill?
Most likely most filtration will be overkill. A sponge filter in a 75 gallon will keep them alive. After that it's what you are enjoying playing with etc.
Definitely want hurt
In my humble opinion that would be great 👍🏾
Is there a way of making the uplift tubing on the sponge filter black?
I would think you could probably pain tit black with krylon fusion paint?
@@AquariumCoop Yes, spray paint works! I have mine painted black. I should make a forum post about it. I am working on a glass version for my tank too.
Yeah having a black or green option would be great
Most backgrounds are black and we want equipment camouflaged
Glofish are over $15 at my store

Does anybody know what kind of grease is fish safe for the o rings? Rhanks

Filter recommendations with co2 injection on 75 gal tank?

What is your opinion of the moving bed filters like the Ziss filter
I like em. I think they're best suited for Turtles and goldfish tanks/tubs.
Is 4 ac110's and a canister filter enough to care for 3 growing oscars?
Plenty well depends on what size tank but just the ac 110 is 2000 gph
I'd say more than enough.
With amoxicillin, if the partner doesn't drink aquarium water they will be fine....
Why does this still say live when it also says 4 months ago? Definitely makes it hard to find your lives!
