I made a couple changes based on what I had in house. Used red pepper flakes instead of chilies and fresh parsley and dried cilantro since I didn't have fresh cilantro. Did them in the air fryer at 350 F for 5 minutes, then flipped and did other side at 375 F. Spritzed each side with avocado oil. Very crispy results. Very delicious. Thanks for the inspiration.
I believe many WWII and post war households had fish cake recipes. Fish varied according to what was available, often caught in local ponds, it could mean catfish in the South, trout in the West, etc. My mother's did not include cilantro, chili peppers or tomatoes in hers. She did include a bit of mayonaise for moisture, celery for crunch. When fish wasn't available, a toasted bread crumb mixture with the available vegetables, even peas and carrots, was used. It was dipped in a seasoned, beaten egg mixture then a mix of wheat flour and corn flour. They were fried in rendered lard or tallow. We all should take note of these simple recipes. We may depend on them soon as our families did back then!
Many of the WWII ladies in our community made vegetable fritters, which were the same as you described. They're so good. You're right, if people don't know how to make food, it's going to be really bad
My family and I live on the Gulf of Mexico coast. We make crab (freshly caught and cooked) cakes just like your tuna cakes. The crab meat is stirred up with everything in your recipe. We also add a dash or two of cayenne pepper. Shrimp cakes are popular too!I love them! 🤗
I prepared this today. The entire family really enjoyed it. When my most finicky eater asked for seconds, I knew this was a major hit for my family! THANK YOU so much for this recipe. 🤩

Thank you for sharing your recipe, it looks absolutely delicious. I’m definitely going to give this a try. I think I might try to add a bit of dill, I think that would give a really nice taste. Also the mixture looks very moist as it is, so I think I’m going skip the egg wash and go straight to the breadcrumbs.
The fishcakes look great. My grandfather comes from a tiny island HELGOLAND, NORTH SEA, GERMANY. Fishcakes were made from LEFTOVER steamed cod , pots, ( buttersauce , we don't use the buttersauce in the cakes. I wanted to tell you, that the sauce went with the cod dish ) Instead of the fresh breadcrumbs we mashed the boiled potatoes, fried a little diced streaky bacon : cod flaked, fried bacon, egg, salt and pepper, mashed pots and fried the cakes in the bacon fat, delicious. ♥️♥️♥️🇩🇪♥️♥️♥️
Me too. Smashing the little bones between her fingers my mom would have us flake the can of salmon just like a meatloaf recipe egg bread crumb salt pepper parsley
Thanks Richelle, the ice cream scoop helps to get somewhat uniform size tuna cakes and using a knife to shape them really helps. Yes, the fresh bread in the tuna cakes keeps them light and moist. Thanks again

This is a great recipe.Thank you for sharing. Going to substitute Salmon for Tuna as I have always enjoyed the flavor much more than tuna. Additionally, always have the opportunity to catch my own.
Thanks for a great recipe. My first batch were a little dark, but the second batch turned out perfectly. They all tasted delicious and were nice and moist.
The food looks great! And may I say the video itself was outstanding and well done! Your work area was spotless. Your voice was pleasant to listen to. Your appearance was impeccable! Old Rocker here Wendy! I love to cook for the wife n Kids… this is a great recipe..thanks so much!! Cooking it tonight with Brown rice, steamed carrots and peas… bit of hot sauce too! Great presentation. Subscribed!
Measure out your Pattie’s with a measuring cup. I find that my third cup makes the perfect size. Then you just smack the mixture out into your hand, and shape. You can also dip the patty into flour and panco breadcrumbs before you fry, for added flavor.
Don't overlook the can water or oil from tuna. There are a lot of tasty uses for the liquid. You can save the oil and use it to saute vegetables or fry an egg. I use the liquid to make soup, or mix it up with mayonnaise and spices to make a dressing for tuna-pasta salad. It is good in miso soup, replacing the shaved bonito step to make stock.
@@MOOOOS You could use the liquid for lube or let the cats have it. But this is a tasty cooking channel we're watching. Tasty uses of extra food sources is key!

Panko is a type of bread crumbs. You can use any bread crumbs you have on hand. Cilantro is the same as coriander.

Thank you wendy you are so good in the kitchen
Wow looks yummy.thank you for sharing your amazing recipe.👍
Measure out your Pattie’s with a measuring cup. I find that my third cup makes the perfect size. Then you just smack the mixture out into your hand, and shape. You can also dip the patty into flour and panco breadcrumbs before you fry, for added flavor.
Thx Phyllis for the msrg cup idea. I'm a ketoite so use pork rinds instead of bread crumbs. I really miss my breadcrumb recipes but these work nicely.
Yummy 😋 I love tuna patties.Thank you so much for sharing ❤❤❤❤ from SA🇿🇦🇿🇦

@@PlatinItWithWendy the eggs really is important for this recipe, is actually like my shrimp fritters.

Great recipe .looks yummy .healthy food.i love the idea .thank u chef .love the recipe..God bless
Thank you for sharing! 🙏 I have a pile of tuna cans I had bought at Costco and had no idea what to do with them.
👍
😂
You’re so old school
😆
...tasty uses...
@@MOOOOS You could use the liquid for lube or let the cats have it. But this is a tasty cooking channel we're watching. Tasty uses of extra food sources is key!
Watching from Guyana 🇬🇾.. will definitely try that for a change, thank you 😊...
