      - still needs 5 forward gears to get to 100km/h lol
      If the final drive ratio still 3.31:1 ? getting that data from FORD is like trying to get the government to give up info via a FOI request.

    I like how the exhaust can be used as a ' leaf blower '. Impressive.

      The ranger was like that too. You make a good point, that exhaust is annoying on a freshly washed car on a somewhat dirty road it blows dirt up everywhere. Why they keep aiming it at the ground is beyond me.

    I think people are forgetting that the exhaust on the Ranger and Everest aren't exactly meant to be super throaty and loud. That's what the Raptor is for!

    Cool review.
    Smiling at the comments.
    Some people expect the Everest to weigh next to nothing, have 500kw, do 0-100 in 3 seconds, tow 100 tons, have a better interior than a RR, all while costing less than a 2l coke.

  • @kidfreejones
    @kidfreejones ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great vid considering your short time with it. I feel the 10 speed let's it down for acceleration, toouch lag between changes. But it's not what's its about and I bet it'll be awesome with weight and that normal mid acceleration we need in real world driving. A far better truck than the last effort.

    • @351tgv
      @351tgv ปีที่แล้ว

      - yeah Ford have removed "sports" mode from the transmission, also reports from Ranger owners are saying that even in "M" manual mode under hard acceleration that the transmission will upshift to the next gear or downshift via kickdown ... which is really disappointing, what is the reason then for offering a manual mode then? for BS? basically what they (Ford) are saying is the driver can't be trusted to control the transmission.

    PDRIVE I have a legit question for you:
    What did the last Ford Territory AWD turbo diesel do in terms of performance numbers? Would be interesting to see what the actual difference is since that is the closest vehicle from Ford Australia that is near to that the new gen Everest is since both are turbo diesel v6 (granted different engine size and and transmissions).

    • @351tgv
      @351tgv ปีที่แล้ว

      ok so I did some research and found the PDRIVE TV video of a Titanium AWD V6 turbo diesel 6-speed auto and the numbers were decent considering the 2.7L only has 140/440 with a kerb weight if 2.2 metric ton.
      9.8 to 100km
      so the new Everest is only just better with more power/torque.

      This same engine but in bi turbo form used in Land Rovers 2018 to 2020 produces 225kw and 700mn's, 0 to 100kph in 7.? Seconds. They're a beautiful thing. Very mature engine, all major shortcomings have been addressed. Including upgraded crankshaft. There was a few failures in earlier models. Clarification, it is a Ford engine used in Land/Range Rovers when Ford owned the company and with an ongoing supply agreement through till 2020.

      It's carrying around considerably more weight. The Everest has 9.6% more power, and is 16% faster to 100. If you just look at it from the standpoint of it's 1.2 Seconds faster, sure, it doesn't seem like much, but once the numbers are broken down you can see that you're actually getting quite a bit more preofrmance for the added weight.

    It will be interesting to see what the aftermarket tuners can get out of this V6.
    I got my 3.2 Everest tuned at 50,000km, so 180kw and 600nm have been the norm for me for a few years now.
    Give me 210kw and 700nm 😜

    So it's on par 0-100 time as a 2.2L 4cyl 2021+ Santa Fe DCT yet they need to use a Land Rover V6 Diesel to get similar figures ?, pretty piss poor effort from Ford. For the power/torque they should be able to muster a low 7's 0-100 not mid 8's by now.

    • @joytech23
      @joytech23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      pdrivetv tested the 2021 2.2 Santa Fe and did 0-100 in 8.6 seconds. The Santa Fe is 450kg lighter and the 10spd ratios seem geared more for economy/towing than performance. I imagine that the towing performance would be spectacular too.

      @@joytech23 8.49 sec to be exact (2022)
      Kerb weight difference of suprisingly 549kg 😂😂
      Considering it's all "new" i would have expected the weight to drop atleast 250kg for a 4x4 in the current market with the use of aluminium among other things. But that's in the "too hard" basket.
      I can think of numerous 4x4's that are dimensionally larger yet weigh less or similar.
      10 gears doesn't always mean better, Ford have had nothing but issues with that joint-development Ford/GM 10sp auto. ZF's 8HP still reins untouched when it comes to segment leading tech in terms of auto transmissions.
      More ratios doesn't always result in improvements.
