Plowing The Blizzard of 2023 Minnesota

- Wednesday night winds pick up and the snow starts dumping from the sky. This has by far been the most challenging week of snow removal I've plowed in the last decade. There was a wicked thick ice layer under these large snow drifts making it hard to get traction. You will see the truck sliding around! The old snow piles are frozen under the fresh snow as well, making it hard to push these piles back. Widening up driveways at this point in next to impossible. This severe snowstorm ultimately dropped between 15 and 16 inches of snow. Travel is not advised! This is a family plowing vlog. We are a smaller operation located about an hour north of Minneapolis and St. Paul in the small town of Princeton Minnesota. It was nice to have both trucks out, my dad came with and drove our second truck. Equipment used in this video:
2012 Ram 2500 regular cab long bed truck with an 8.5 Hiniker v plow, 2014 Chevy 2500HD crew cab long box truck with an older 8ft straight blade Hiniker polly plow. We run new Toyo open country tires on both trucks. Our shovels are the original snow plow brand. The snow blowers are single stage Toro 721 powerclear's and a Toro powermax 28 inch 2 stage. At Bladez LLC we do both Commercial and Residential snow removal. If you have questions leave them in the comment section of the video and ill do my best to respond. Thanks for reading! Enjoy the video! - บันเทิง
some of those small lots and drive ways you should push or pull the snow out to the road and plow it down the street just like the city trucks do. You have to remember when a car tries to pull or back out of a drive way and you have the snow pilled up at the end they cant see cars coming
Been watching this and notice you go over and over the same spots because of too much of a bite. Start from one side and continue pushing all the snow in one direction, triple your clean up time
Gotta love city contracts 💰💰💵💵💰💰
Loved the video, as a 20 year plowing veteran I give you a lot of credit. You did great
Thanks for the kind words. That was the toughest plow run I've ever made!
Thanks for the kind words. That was the toughest plow run I've made in my time plowing.
Plow the snow with the traffic,,, at the end of a drive if the snow goes to the right looking at the driveway? The bank gets too high to see around if it gets pushed to the left facing the driveway it’s out of the way. I do it at home like that.
Bro that snow is crazy we got it to and I was plowing for 16hours straight
Years like this year is why I got out of the plowing business , nice job on the plowing
Yeah, no kidding! I wonder if some will give it up next year... 🤔
As always awesome content thanks for your time to do this video big fan of your channel and love it 🙂
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! This was a really fun film to make.
outstanding! Great job.
7.31.2023 and I am watching a snow plowing video.
Yeah... are you crazy? 😉
@@bladezllc And, I live in MN.
Man I should start recording my plow trips too. I was out there plowing endlessly on my commercial lots. Great job! Can’t wait for another storm.
Thanks, Ray! It's relatively simple to record plowing. You should definitely do it.
They do make heated wiper blades, your son is so good to just sit and ride
He honestly loves coming with. We even pay him to come along! He likes making money 💰
Tip use heated window wipers
Love your content you plowing with the same setup this season? Great work!
I have a 2017 Chevy 3500hd with a boss 9'2 I'll be plowing with this year.
You need Heated wiper Fluid, we installed a nice kit and you save a ton of time
If you back drag in the vee position, it'll contain the snow better and leave less trail off.
If you took a smaller pass you’d have less windrows to clean. Like use half your blade windrowing to the side.
Greater space management. ;)
Being lucky enough to live in a warm climate I cannot fathom why anyone lives in a place like this. Not criticising you but I cannot get my head around it!
It's a wild experience! Winters get long and hard up here, but we get used to them. Thanks for the comment 👍
No snakes
I have noticed so far in the comments that know one has mentioned that your passenger side plow light is out ? Or it looks to be out. Every time you come flush with a snow bank it doesn’t look like the light is on. Other than that I thank you and the family for coming out with yet another peaceful plowing content. These make bad days once good agin. ❤
Thanks, I appreciate that! Good catch on that light! I went and tapped on that light, and it came back on. Must have been moisture or a bad connection.
This is definitely the USA?! Not Siberia?! Great video!!! It’s nice to look at a snowy winter when it’s autumn and rainy outside. Today there was a little snow, but it will melt. Greetings from Russia ✌️ Yoshkar-Ola.
Thanks for watching 👀 Greetings from Minnesota located in the northern USA!!!
@@bladezllc It turns out that your Minnesota is like our Arkhangelsk region?! further away there is only the White Sea and the Arctic Ocean, and you have Canada. One of the coldest regions.
I would hate for it to snow again that heavily without pushing your snowbanks back far enough to push the new snowfall. Running out of room is not a good thing, better safe than sorry I would push those Banks back another 15 ft at least.
You should definitely invest in a Snow power rear plow I have one absolutely love it saves the transmission
I'm considering that for next season. It would definitely save the transmission. I was waiting to get some more input on them. My good buddy Garrett over at G&M sure loves his.
Reverse is the strongest gear in auto transmissions for sure
When you swing snow to the side, start with the inside and work out. It will save you quite a few swipes.
Only other option is snow power front set up with down pressure still keep salter , I went with rear one first to try it and have wester 9.6 V front to do my long back roads
I had to plow in this storm is was wicked I live in the u.p of Michigan it was wild
You guys are no stranger to snow over there! It was wild for sure! I dont know about you but we had so many wet heavy snows last season.. those are the worst
Dose your plow have down pressure and what kind of set up is it just asking
That is an older 8.5 foot Hiniker V plow. It doesn't have down pressure.
question, when you price out plowing a road, windrowing it, how much less do you charge as a percentage vs a parking lot? or do you charge them as the same rate? i plow per sq/ft and i've only done parking lots and not sure if it's standard to charge less for a long driveway/road per sq/ft.
When I bid a driveway or parking lot, I bid it based on time, not the sq/ft.
Too bad Pizza Pub wasn’t open, could’ve stopped in for a bite!! #fromprincetontoo
Yeah, no kidding! The pizza pub is my favorite! You probably recognize a lot of the scenery
@@bladezllc I recognize a ton of the scenery!!
@@mikemaul-yy6wx that's too cool! I love it
Yea wes holly smokes
That was hilarious 😂
Thank you for modeling good expressiveness 👏
Have I ever got stuck
In one video there was a bear driveway, is that one heated?
That is correct, yes.
You mow yards also?
We do! I do mowing, yard cleanups, and fertization/weed control.
What size plow to put on ram 2500 gasser? Stock
8.5 foot is a good size. Make sure it's a flare top
@@bladezllc for boss if you had to do 8.2 or 9.2 ?
@Zwrld781 it will handle either just fine. I'm running a Boss 9'2 this year.
@@bladezllc yeah I saw that but wasn’t sure if the 3500 made big difference
@Zwrld781 From my experience, there isn't a big difference between a one ton and a 3/4 ton.
Do you like the Chevy or dodge better
For plowing, I like the dodge better. For pulling, I prefer the Chevy. The Chev rides a lot nicer as well... The ram has way more power, though it's crazy! It's probably the stability of the longer wheel base on the Chevy.
@@bladezllc make sense thanks for the reply!
Boy I sure don’t miss MN winters, 31 years of that nonsense was plenty. Living in TN our summers are like walking on the sun but I can drive in heat whereas snow & ice isn’t near as easy. Also don’t miss the Land of 10,000 taxes but no ice fishing down here, oh well.
I was gonna add a comment but it says the top please remember to keep your comments respectful and to follow community guidelines but I have nothing respectful and never fallow guidelines so sorry I'm not gonna leave a comment.🤑
Hahaha 😆 😂 😆 😂
Slower pace with video
Good to know. Thanks for the input 👍
You the worst plower ive seen! You plowing the same snow front and back?…
get rid of the music
Turn your volume down options u have
I think you baby that plow lol
To be completely honest, I do. I haven't ever had any major breakdowns in my 9 years doing it, though. That's worth something to me!
@@bladezllc hey I respect it.
