I usually model 1/48 scale aircraft and 1/35 scale armor, artillery and soft skin vehicles like trucks. I am really impressed with the after- market detail kits available for these kits. I also use air sprayer equipment to paint, detail and weather my kits. All of these kits and equipment can be used on 1/24 and 1/25 scale models and would certainly enhance them. Surprisingly, no one has attempted detailing these larger models on any TH-cam videos to my knowledge. Paint jobs look orange peeled, engines should be after-market resin and detailed as much as possible, glass should not look like it is 2” thick and decals should be applied with pre and post setting solution. If this can be done with the smaller scale models, it should be able to be done with the larger kits too. Food for thought.

VD, In a perfect world you are absolutely on target. And if you can produce one of those super-detailed kits along with all the photos, video clips and descriptive narration every 30 days - I'd love to have you as a reviewer. What do ya say! -Doug

@@RightOnReplicas Building super detailed models should not be an assembly line effort. If it takes a month or several years, the result is worth the effort. When I was in high school, I produced several 1/25 scale cars and trucks. I always detailed the engines and cut the doors and trunks open. This was during the 1960s and spray cans were all I could afford. I take my time with the expensive higher quality kits i choose. when I complete one that I am satisggied

VD, All well and good and I understand your point. Thing is- we review kits - not skills. If we review one contest entry model a year like the ones your talking, about I'm not sure people would check in every week to find out. We wouldn't have much to show and we could only do one a year. I hope it's the one your interested in! Sorry, we're not here to showcase contest building skills. We build the kit mostly out-of-the-box using the kits parts and common methods. Our emphasis is on warning people about issues that would keep them from finishing their build. We'll leave the detailing to folks like you. In fact, you should start your own channel featuring advanced modeling skills. Thanks for your feedback. -Doug

I've built several of these trucks. It's not a easy to assemble. But taking your time it can be a great kit. After the second time I got what you got to change to get the fit to work. The cab and interior is the biggest problem. But with some time and few not so nice word you will get it together. Thanks for your review. Lol I've drove the real truck and they wasn't the best to drive. They were COLD to drive in the winter and HOT in the summer. Most trucks in built in the 70s and 80s didn't have AC.

I think I see the problem with the bed. I thinks it’s supposed to be flush with the rear of the tub extension, while the quilted back is put in front of the divider instead of on top.

I just finished this kit and painted It in Optimus Prime colors. Red cab with silver strip around, and then paints the frame in blue. Using chrome to really accentuate the colors. but overall, very tough kit to build. the chrome parts don't glue together very well, even when stripping chrome and using super glue. but after so much work, loved the outcome. Also the unnumbered sprues make the build very confusing at times.

Nice kit. But when you put the stacks on, they are now not straight standing. Use a firelighter to heat it up a bit in the middle. Then you can bend it into the straight position. And i mount them as late as possible. That is how i do it. The result is nicer then. Be aware not to burn the chrome away, use a bit scotch tape to cover the place you heat it up with the lighter and remove that when the are straight in-line. Just my little tip
