I agree with the International 4070 kit it’s beautiful but if someone wants to take a crack at trucks might I suggest some of the Italeri 1/24 trucks the kits fit well the instructions are clear, the detail is worlds above the repoped AMT kits and for a first time builder I think theres a greater chance of success. Now the bad news, they generally are a little more expensive and for the most part only offer European cabovers (which still look fantastic), but they do offer some conventional trucks. Generally an all round better building experience enough to build up your confidence to tackle the AMT cabovers which as far a American truck unfortunately is the only game in town. Hope this helps anyone.

My favorite Freightliner kit! Here,s why, when I first bought my kit I started on it and noticed many flaw,s mainly on the 2 piece cab! So I went and bought another kit and decided to make a stretched version, double wide bunk. And I used a Detroit engine, I bought from ebay Model truck parts. I cut the 2nd part of the sleeper so it wasn't really big made it look like it should? Now there was some small gap,s! So I used Tamiya plastic filler, I filled the gap,s from the inside of the cab this way the filler pop,s out thru the gap,s then lightly I sanded the top of the cab not disturbing any rivet,s it came out great. Painted it Candy red, came out very nice! Sorry for the long comment just wanted to give out some pointer,s.

Morning, Chris here.......great "how-to" on mentioning how the parts & instructions work on this kit.......I wasn't aware of that myself......that's a great thing 4 builders 2 be aware of.The chassis & engine looks great....has that used but used up look to it.....well done!!!!!!!!!

You know,I've built 3or4 of these,both day cab and sleeper,and I never had a problem with that seam. Maybe I'm lucky, or just so good I've never noticed? I got 2 more in my stash,gonna do em this winter after harvest.

The reason why the International Cabover truck model is so good is that it was not an AMT mold. It was made by Ertl Blueprinter series of truck models. They were far and above anything AMT had out at the same time. You are doing a great job of trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. I have the same kit. The seam if horrible to try and get rid of.

i thought i did detail on my big rig kit but now i see you go over and beyond ...... i dont air brush or use the glue and quick set glue you use ...think im going to find it ....
Thanks for the kind words. You used to be able to get the Tamiya glues at Hobby Lobby but looks like my local store is no longer selling it. They have one called "Mr Cement Model Adhesive" I haven't used this brand yet but I hear it works well. You can always find them online as well. Also, any brand of super glue works, I use two types, a gel type and a thin type. Just be careful not to glue your fingers to anything ;^)

What are u guys getting those sanding sticks at
I typically use the sanding sticks from "Squadron" off Amazon. The smaller ones I picked up from Hobby Lobby. There are many brands and types but just search Amazon for "sanding sticks for plastic models" and you will find a ton of them. OR, you can go to any local drug store or big box store and look in the finger nail polish section for inexpensive sanding and polishing products. You can get nice sanding sticks for pennies on the droller. I hope this helps, have a great day and thanks for watching and commenting.

Yeah I'm a return modeler and having lots of issues with this kit I'm not complaining but warping and fit are really bad on this one

Don t know why AMT made the cab in two pieces. All their others were one-piece with no seam with which to hassle.
I couldn't agree more... Makes no sense to me why they can't just mold it on one piece. Except for the fact that they wanted to make two options for this kit, but why not just make two separate kits? :^)

I totally agree with you, it IS a nightmare. But, this is a part of model building, keep at it and try to remember it's just for fun. Plus, you will learn a lot from difficult kits like this. Have a great day and thanks for watching. -David

Doing this kit now, terrible terrible kit. No fun in it at all, just aggravation. A kit these days should not be this terrible.
I agree, this is definitely a builders kit and not for the fain of heart. I walked away from this kit many times before I finally finished it. The scary thing is that I am getting another one, I must be crazy....
@@PlasticImaginationWorkshop I agree. Did the same last night. Got frustrated with it, put it up for an hour and went back to it. Not gonna let it beat me. Right now having issues with warped frame rails etc. And when I bought this a few weeks ago the part I was most fearful of was the multi piece cab of which I didn't know about until after. Seems the whole thing is gonna give me fits but I will see it through hopefully.
Round 2 or any other model manufacturer does not employ anyone that has enough extensive knowledge to design build manufacturer a decent truck model the closest model I've seen and building is the AMT '78 K100 AERODYNE that Malone kit the truck has a long W/B not using the dumbass ramp body or the Detroit 8V71 NTC 370 Cummins instead
I would have to agree with you but, I give them credit for trying. I'm currently building another one of their truck kits and it's not much better. They are definitely a true "builders' kit and not for the beginner or maybe even an intermediate for that matter. Thanks for watching, have a great week.
