- If you use litter tray bags and your cat makes holes in it, then this trick with a training pad will help you out! it helps to control the mess and the smell too. And cleaning the litter box is not so gross anymore!
I do scoop twice every day to remove the formed clumps, but you need to empty the whole litter box only once a month.
And costs you a fortune in litter

My cats hate those plastic bags. The noise bothers them. I’m happier if my fur babies are comfortable doing their business. I don’t care if I have to wash the litter box.

Your cats are angels. Mine are digging a hole straight to hell.
We have two of these giants. We switched to Tidy Cat Breeze. Where the litter is stabilized wood pellets, the pee flows through to the absorbent pad underneath. You sift the pellets for solids which you dispose of along with the full pad. The pellets remain and can be washed occasionally. Even standing directly over a used little box you can't smell it.
How do you get to the pad underneath without taking everything out on top
Using a cat litter that clumps up when liquids and solids touch it.
Just use a sieve to take these clumps out, and flush them. Add liter as needed. Works for me.

That just seems like way too much waste just to avoid a little extra work. Maybe try a litter robot? Might be a good alternative but also an investment. So much trash already in our landfills. No judgement though I get it, I hate scooping the boxes

That extra material is way extra waste for our environment. But i can understand for someone who does not have an outdoor hose to rinse the box.
I rinse mine in the shower, it's really not that big of a deal. It's a little harder for me because I'm disabled but for an able bodied person, I can't imagine how all that waste (and expense) is a better alternative.

My cat wouldn’t accept plastic crinkle while they tinkle… I simply wash out the box once a week with dish soap (I think that what it’s called?) and scoop once a day… but in no way saying your way is wrong
Edit: I also keep the clean litter, I use clumping litter so there’s no way to fully change it out… that stuff is expensive

You should never use plastic bags in your litter box you can get stuck underneath their claws and then they can clean them and choke

Cats with claws can poke holes in the liners as they scratch, allowing urine to seep through to the bottom of the litter box. If cats get their claws stuck in the plastic as they attempt to cover it can create an unpleasant association with the litter .

I don't use the plastic cuz my cats would just tear holes in it and also I use stainless steel litter boxes because you can't ever get a plastic litter box clean the plastic absorbs bacteria I do a stainless steel scooper too

@@maxiecoon that would be 100 dollars per month in usd not counting litter deoterizer, vacuum bags, or food. Plus it’s a huge waste of plastic 🤷🏻 (if it works for you it works but prices are going up like crazy)
@@Jasper_KN We use good quality litter and it doesn't require any deoterizer, also we change it once a month or even more rare depending on the current situation... bags don't cost a lot either 😅 I guess prices might be a little lower here in the UK...Anyways, at the moment we are experimenting and currently don't use any bags or pads, just litter... So basically, £36 are all the expenses on the litter we have at the moment

@@camilaalimac2702 my cats go in the liter box and dig and scratch a spot to do their buissness and than cover their buissness up. I can hear them scratching the bottom of the box. I'm sure if I tried this the plastic would be full of holes from their claws. 🙂

One of mine perches daintily on the edge, nothing can be there but the box, he won't allow it. As far as a plastic bag goes forget it they would scratch it to doomsday. The same thing with putting a potty pad in the bottom. There's no way you would find a perfect size anyway. Besides those are for the DOG.

I could never conceive of giving my cat or cats a litter box that wasn't fully enclosed for their privacy. I would also not line with plastic, the sound it would make when the fluffy purrson is covering their "mess" would set their nerves on edge
They actually say cats prefers to be able to see “predators” when using the litter box & prefer an open box. (Ofc I’m sure generations of inside cats would be fine w/ covers)

We don't use plastic bags underneath, we just clean the litterbox once a week in the shower. I didn't know plastic bags were normal 😦

Cats do not like litter liners. Their claws get stuck in them. But people still insist on using them. Is soap water really that hard???
Their claws don’t get stuck, at least our cats are fine 🙈 otherwise you have to wash their litter boxes daily (in addition to scooping) because our girl became very picky and sensitive to the litter box smell…

I can't afford the bin liners let alone all the other liners,but if I could I'd just buy replacement litter trays n just pick the hole old thing up n throw away then simply replace with new tray n litter everytime time 😅
At the moment we stopped using this system with liners and training pad as the cat litter we use seems to be good enough to hold everything 🙈 But we need to clean it twice or day 😤 And probably need to replace the litter boxes soon as they are getting harder to clean…
P.S: the system from the video is for cleaning about once a month! so it’s not that expensive and wasteful as you may think 🙈 and it’s so much easier to clean the litter box and to keep it good for longer! Although some cats may don’t like the liners…
That's just silly. The whole point of having clumping cat litter, is to save money. She must be rich, and obviously has a cat that doesn't chew plastic
the whole point is to have clean litter boxes as our big cats like Maine Coons pee a lot and they have high hygiene standards 🙈

Just use good scooping litter and clean the box out often. It seems like you’d be wasting sooooo much litter doing it like this JUST to not wash the litter box. Also, are you cats declawed or something(which is horribly cruel) bc my cats would scratch thru that thin plastic bag so fast burying their business!
I use the same method but very expensive. It still gets messy and I still have to wash it every time

Why don’t you not use the plastic bag, not use the pad underneath, and then learn to just clean a litter box ins instead of needlessly filling landfills. Problem solved.

If you mean that cat litter mat underneath the litter boxes, it’s actually not so good and I don’t recommend if the cat litter you use has the same size particles as ours… But the size of that litter mat is good though!
Not sure what do you mean saying “cover”, maybe those training pads underneath the litter? Then again, Amazon 😁 you can use the cheapest with good enough reviews and they come in a huge box as they meant for dogs training, to the box will last you for long!

I couldn't find a litter box big enough so we cut a 'door" in a big storage container. Works great.

Waste of money to throw out litter. It's better to buy Tidy Cats litter that clumps the urine, then you can scoop out urine and poo and only need to add litter once in a while.

What a waste. Forget cost, think if all the damage to the environment just because you don’t want to clean a litter box. And pellets made from sawdust are far more environmentally friendly.

All I’m trying to say is that it’s not big deal for us to spend 1-2 mins washing the container, instead of adding up to earth’s plastic and rubbish which is reaaaally crucial right now.
I understand the intent to save time, because we live in a fast world, but I don’t think it makes such a difference when you only need 1-2 minutes to wash it. But it makes a difference for her 🌍 🤍

@@kate_editzzz3454 I scoop 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening) as we have only 2 litter boxes for 2 cats and they pee a lot 😅 If they were usual cats, scooping one time a day would be enough.

That litter , and plastic & pee pad into the landfill? Yikes NO, don’t use a pre pad ( takes 50 yrs or more to break down ) no bags no litter … I use a water soluble cat litter , NO liner & NO pads . Scoop poop & clumps , rest of litter gets hosed into the garden … dissolves.
