    I run a T100(before the T120 was introduced), i went from sports bikes and wanted to slow myself down, cant fault it for a simple all rounder, always puts a smile on my face and its perfect for open visor, country lane, long sweeping fun, its a back to basics kind of bike and thats why i love it.

      I recently did the same thing. I went from a Ninja to the T100. I’m 53 and don’t need to be riding like a hooligan anymore. The Bonnie is such a nice around town bike.

      I have the T120 and gave up ADV top heavy boring machines (Vstrom, R1200 GS) for something which is an absolute joy to ride everytime. Short trips, back roads, highway, long distance. It's motorcycling with real soul, and high grin factor.

    • @MaxMustermann-bm7qt
      @MaxMustermann-bm7qt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      You should try some! its not that hard and it greatly improves your skill! It'll help if you lock your rear wheel or your reaction to sliding! On asphalt it's like grip grip grip grip, slip shits on fire sudden grip again. But on gavel it's all smooth you can position yourself give more weight to the front and let it slide :) Also its sooo much fun!

    • @UVjoint
      @UVjoint 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@MaxMustermann-bm7qt Couldn't agree more. In 3 years, I had ONE big rear slide under hard braking on a highway, and I think it gave me a mini heart attack. Compare that to dirt riders who never seem to be going in the direction their wheels are pointed (never mind MotoGP riders like MM93), and it totally bears out what you said about skill improvement.
      What kind of motorcycle did you begin with on dirt/gravel?

    • @MaxMustermann-bm7qt
      @MaxMustermann-bm7qt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@UVjoint Depends on the kick you want, and the budget. I started with a klx250 2013, which is veeeryyy weak and heavy (120kg, which is a lot for dirt in combination with very little torque). But it was enough for 2 years. Generally there are three roads to pick. 2-stroke enduro, 4 stroke enduro/sumo and the dual-sport. The two-stroke is by far the lightest/quirkiest around 95kg and endless torque. But it is also the wierdest from the engine characteristics (i.e. no engine break/ wierd torque to rpm dependency)./ I personally prefere the 4-stroke. They usually come in 350 and 450cc. While the first is enough for all offroad terrain I ever encountered, the latter is more "comfortable" on the highway (gear ratio) and overall faster. You can also go for the 4 stroke travel endouro or the 700cc ish supermotos. Which work great but are too big and heavy for me (65kg) guy. I think there are currently a honda dual sport as 450cc and nothing much else. As mentioned above, my kawa was not ideally fitted for the dirt nor for the street. It was a classic compromise in that is wasn't great on dirt or on the road. If you wand to do some donats on the dirt, a normal bike (old, because paint) or scrambler will do. For light dirt and small trees, an old/used dual sport (You do not want a high performance engine for maintenance) will do. If you really want to get into the dirt, the cheapest option for new bikes are swm (base 2009? Husqvy). Beta has a beginners 2-stroke (X-Trainer), and KTM has the freeride (4 stroke). Gas gas might also have something cheap. I do not advise you to buy a used 'real' (high-performance) bike except, when you know the pre-owner they require much more maintenance and care than i.e. my old kawa that never had any issues. If i could start again/ my next bike will prob. be a 350cc 4stroke husqvy (bc. i want the 4-stroke and the clutch is hydralic, the suspension is slightly better than the x-trainer i own, but this are marginal upgrades for around 2000$). Hope this might give a brief overview of some possibilities. Cheers

    I bought a 1997 900 thunderbird. Sound is awesome. Great engine. Solid feel. Won't make a hole in the air at 90+ like a Blackbird but will cruise all day at 85. I get more comments from passers-by than any of my other bikes. Maybe the t100 is newer and cooler but I like classic carbs over fuel injectors and I get a modern monoshock instead of the classic twin rear suspension. All for a quarter of the price.

    Dude, this was so good in so many levels! Loved the scripting, sarcasm and well just about every aspect of this VDO. To think this is from a Motorcycle retailer...It was dope. From the rain to snow to 6 foot 3 inch surfing dude, I ate every nanosecond of it. Not sure if it's the wine, whiskey or beer I had tonight, but just sayin' . So no, your Promo shot did not work for me one bit... I'm now going to buy a T100 RIGHT now, despite not wanting one at all.

    Back in 82 I converted a T120 to a mean road machine with a new Ceriani front end, a revised rear shock mounting for a couple extra inches of travel, then sold it to a guy who never paid and got cashiered out of the USMC and disappeared. I just bought two early sixties T100's, a T140, a couple extra frames and I believe I'm going to enjoy the next year as much as any. Four sixties and seventies Triumphs in my shop is as good as it gets, I think. Been saving front ends and parts for twenty years and really looking forward to some fine cruising. Dunlop K70's for all.

      I’ve had 27 bikes in between but back to Triumph for my twilight years with the benefit of no oil leaks and virtually never have to set the tappets...timing etc
      But whatever you ride or prefer is also fine as long as you manage to stay upright. ;)
      I’ve had a couple of Enfield billets and dead good reviews on interceptor but they are kinda ugly & prone to rust I hear.
