Here she is, the master of Grass types, Erika! I've always found Erika to be one of the most underrated trainers. If you want to see more True Power episodes & catch up on any favorite trainers you've missed, check out the full playlist here: th-cam.com/play/PLFdGupe1YxoirUsiWFGTSL4nbF4Tm1tej.html NOTE: Red won the total vote, but since he's going to be another 'Special Episode' like Blue's, we're doing the next most-voted trainer for now while I work on that episode! Coming soon! :D
Have you thought of making a best team for trainers that they could have that fits there style? Like brock make a rock type team for him using all of the pokedex (no legendary) and see what his possible true power could be if given access to all rock type Pokemon.
It's very fun, though make sure the game you do it in has at least 7 fully evolved pokemon with whatever type you want for your mono-type run. Having to have 3 copies of the same species (for example) is no fun, also the reason why I say at least 7 when there's only 6 slots is so that you have a bare minimum of 1 option, letting the mono-type team feel less limited.
@@jaernihiltheus7817 Monotype fire in Pokémon shield wasn't too difficult. I want to do mono grass though because it's my favourite type as I love flowers and plants. I predict it's going to be really tough though. Covering all those weaknesses will be near impossible. Especially since Kabu's ace is fire/bug.
You know what would be cool? If gym leaders could be challenged in any order, and they matched the level of your pokemon/gym badge total, which was mentioned in Pokemon Origins
Finally, Erika is here to shine!! And for some reason, I noticed her first sprite kinda strange, something like if she looks more a ghost or psychic type gym leader, specially with her pokeball floating
In alfa she was going to be a ghost gym leader, even her kimono is wraped in the way japanese women wrap it up for funerals, so... I think that idea got scrapped because there's too few ghost pokémon in the game.
Pokémon is in need of a solid Grass/Fire type, for competitive reasons and so Erika can use it. Believe Mega Bellossom, Sunflora, or Cherrim would make a great typing off this!
0:57 Back when there were only 151 Pokemon. The Grass-types were based off of poisonous/carnivorous plants. You can't fault her for her options. But hey, I guess you can find beauty in a stinking corpse lily.
Been a huge fan of this series since you started it! I notice you started doing a little extra editing with this video! At first, I was a fan if it until I stated to think it was a bit overdone. Like at 4:55 (to mention one even though there are more instances) I thought there were just too many things in the screen at once. I also thing there was an excess of transition effects. I still loved the video and really appreciate the effort you put into the video. I only mention my criticism because I can tell you put a lot of effort into the video and want the best quality video possible. This is just my opinion and I still enjoyed the quality of the video!! :)
I would die happiness if Erika was the 4th member of the OG anime IF it did happened. Her calm and quiet nature could be a great value of the story. Her personality is very similar to Poison Ivy mix with Mizuki from Baka and Test in my opinion. All I can say is, she more of a caring sister GYM leader. Erika is my 1st favorite grass GYM leader but also my 2nd favorite female GYM leader.
Erika is really underrated because the most of us has chosen Charmander at the start, or Chyndaquil in Gen2. But man, look that team... amazing. Nice video man, keep going ! Merry Christmas! Really interested to hear your ideas about Red's true power. I hope next video will be about him! :)
Erika was my favorite gym leader in 1999. I had an obsession with Oddish and Bulbasaur, so I enjoyed a lot her episode. And now that we know that actually Erika was a ghost type gym leader with an creepy background, she was a little underrated, but now I think her popularity is increasing. Nice video.
Honourable mentions: Pokémon Stadium 1 rematch: Clefable & Dewgong Pokémon Stadium 2: Chansey & Vaporeon Pokémon Stadium 2 rematch: Marowak, Ninetales, Mantine & Blissey Also let’s finish off the Kanto region with the Cinnabar gym leader Blaine. What is Blaine’s TRUE POWER?
Yiss! I just started watching this series yesterday, and my body is already ready for more! I hope that you are able to also do the followup wifi battles for the other videos as well because I'll easily watch them all!
I could see Bellossom as a nice alternative team member. Between Quiver Dance and Chlorophyll, it can speed up with little problem. Add in Strength Sap and it'll cripple Physical Pokemon. Giga Drain and Synthesis/Moonlight helps longevity from the Special and Status move sides as well. Cover moves like Sludge Bomb may not be as good as the Poison Pokemon on this list, but Dazzling Gleam/MoonBlast, Hidden Power, and a few other coverage moves can make this Pokemon hard to take down. Replacing a Grass/Poison Pokemon with it will reduce Psychic Weaknesses too. Just saying...
@3:01 you commented that it was strange that erikas Pokémon are unevolved but I think the purpose was to mimic the television serious. Most of the gym leaders in Pokémon yellow had Pokémon which reflected what they used in the tv show
Oh yeah, one more Kanto leader! Blaine! lol These videos are super interesting to see what other Pokemon these leaders have that I wouldn't know about.
is it only me or you did a lot of effort on the editing this time around good job! Also give me red true power please edit: well since red is confirmed i want steven stone edit edit: someone made me remember that steven already had his episode :p so i want jasmine
Fun fact here: In Masters EX, Erika is also shown to have a Comfey and Leafeon. You've mentioned Masters reflecting canon development in the past, so why not through this in here for fun? XD
I know he’s in Gen 5, but I’d love to see what Colress’ true power is. He is one of my favorite character’s in the franchise and I was so happy to see him return in Sun and Moon.
I'm curious as to why Shiftry or exeggutor were not considered since it has that psychic immunity (resistance for the other one) and it feels unnecessary having three poison/grass types when at least one them is easily replaceable (Victreebel)
Slight team update: In Pokemon Masters Erika was given a Comfey. I don't think this changes her singles team any, but if she were to do a doubles tournament comfey should replace victoribell as it is probably the weakest on the team in stats.
Absolutely my friend! Comfey is accounted for on the WBL Website :D We've got full databases for every trainer - can't wait to release it to you guys! Appreciate the support as always Dice
@@SilphSpectre I can't wait to see the website. I hope it's alright that I do these, I'm kinda enjoying it. Since this series I've been fascinated by the cannon teams of the NPCs in pokemon.
Grass types are my favorite. Maybe a run could be done using her pokemon. I would've love to see Vileplume included though as its her most Iconic pokemon. I do agree with the picks though 😁
i wouldn't have given abomasnow an honorable mention even due to much in part of that x4 fire weakness. A grass specialist is asking for trouble bringing something x4 weak to fire and on top of that the snow warning ability means hail for no reason other than to get the rest of her team hurt in the process or the hidden ability of soundproof isn't likely to come up vs her for the fact that generally speaking you don't particularly need hyper voice to shut her down.
I feel like a new series can be made based on what if gym leaders had access to pokemon from all regions. Erica's team of 6 would be: Ace Bellosom Liligant (maybe hisuian) Tsareena Leafeon Arboliva Maybe Lurantis or Meganium Basically her tean would all be feminine grass types. But i can see this treatment done for all the gym leaders.
It’s funny that you chose a theme that is used for talking about the Fey clan/Morgan Fey in Phoenix Wright. Being one of the most fucked up histories I’ve seen in a nearly kiddy video game series.
Instead of sludge bomb on roseraid is would suggest toxic spikes. Maybe add sleep powder on there too. she can get a free switch in and attempt to set up.
Really Erika was asleep the first time you talk to her to battle her I don't think i ever read the dialogue between her before the battle that craxy learn something new everyday
I'd swap Victreebel with Vileplume. The thing is Victreebel is more offensive-oriented with no defensive capabilities, and Vileplume offers a middle ground between offence and defence, which would complement the team in my opinion. But good take anyways.

Question. Why didnt Shiftry make the team? Just curious, as I really liked that mon and had good success with it on my team in omega ruby.
I can't wait for Red
Dustin Warring ya I’m curious too especially that it’s also a dark type which helps to deal with psychic threats

I always assumed it was just her tossing her Pokèball up and down in the air, but now you mention it she does look like a psychic levitating it.
Well she originally supposed to be a ghost type specialist in lavender town. Specifically she was supposed to be a reanimated corpse.
In alfa she was going to be a ghost gym leader, even her kimono is wraped in the way japanese women wrap it up for funerals, so...
