True Story: about 10 or 11 years ago, my 4yo daughter and I were getting on a plane and there was Ray Charles in first class with all of his people around him. I conjured up the courage to say "Hi Mr. Charles, good to meet you, this is my daughter Alexis." He goes, well, she is just the prettiest little girl I have ever SEEN." The whole airplane erupted with laughter. My daughter innocently asked me why everyone was laughing, she didn't know he was blind. He made time for common people.
@@TankTJames It always comes up at family events. I did in fact ask for his autograph, but his manager I am guessing, said when we get off the play he will sign for you. But since I was in the cheap seats, they got off the plane well before we did. Didn’t matter, like you said, we cherish the memory and Ray was such a sweetheart.
I love how he sounds as if he were still 20 years old. That's a VOICE, ladies and gentlemen. And that sexy flavor he always added to his songs...wow!!!
I love how Ray is like 69 yrs old in this performance in 2000.. Still was playing for himself and holding his own! And still sounded great! There will never be another man.. Never!
I saw him a couple of times back in the 1970s. What's striking in viewing this performance is that he never lost his edge..that supreme energy that he possessed. He was a unique and great talent..one of a kind.
How lucky was I to see him with the same formation in a private concert given in gala dinner for a watch brand in Genevain 2002, and passed 3 days with the same band! The godfather!
In my opinion when it comes to jazz and blues, remember all old Charles. The man who mounted their unusual performance at the heart of all these areas of music lovers as the best performer all times and peoples.Thank you,Charles for what you were.Thou shalt always remain in our hearts!
although I had never heard this song, a snippet had been playing over and over in my brain. don't know where i heard the snippet, but I came up with the title and voila here it is. wonder why i had to listen to it, the meaning will probably come to me later. this is a fantastic song.
Whoever BBxTerra is shut ur mudda fuckin mouth, find the darkest corner u can possibly find, crawl in it, don't make a sound, n listen 2 the best blues u, with your feeble mind, will ever listen 2!!! I know who Ray Charles is, but nobody knows how the fuck BBxTerra is n honestly nobody really gives a fuck who u r!! Ur STUPID, SHUT UP N LISTEN, FOOL!!!
Brilliant at 70 years old here! Not hard to see why he is the High Priest. The sort of genius that comes around once in a lifetime. Warms my heart to see the younger brothers and sisters here who love Ray as much as I do. If you can't dig Ray, you DO have a problem.
doesn't matter what age, if music touches your heart, it's eternal. i'm just sad i could never see this man play his music. A true loss to the world. R.I.P ray
I have always appreciated ray for being a brilliant singer, songwriter, musician and businessman. But after seeing the movie "Ray", I am in awe of his strength to commit to a lifelong struggle to fight his inner demons. He had the strength of ten men. I used to make the teens at a drug rehab where I worked, watch this movie (much to the dismay of the professional staff of therapist). There were alot of life lessons in that movie, any struggle can be overcome. See you when I get there Ray.
Just the most incredible, inspirational and truly amazing musician of his generation... The word legend is overused, but this man is certainly worthy of that title. Rest In Peace,
Ray Charles until the last moment of his life was a true artist, his voice never changed, thank God, wherever God has you...rest in peace.. we miss you!!!!!!
you can see, he rly puts his soul in the music, even if at some points it slightly off, i feel the goosebumps everytime this man opens his mouth, what a legend, lets hope the world brings us more of these, Ray Charles you are the BEST!
A co worker of mine heard my dubstep playing from my phone today, and started complaining that electronic sound destroyed music and that he missed the pure sound of classics like ray charles... pointed to him to this song and made him vibe out to the first part for like 5 mins straight
if anyone saw a movie about this artist they would agree with me that when he has to walk or anything else its like hes been blind for a few weeks and is new at this (kinda scared of fast etc.) but when he plays...it seems he gets his sight back and not only that it seems he can fly faster than birds, swim faster than fish, go faster than a train. Wonderfull music and a magnificient person. Escuse me if i did any grammar mistakes or something.
I'm not saying anyone is 'better' than anyone else. Music is not a competition. Sampling is an art, it requires as much dedication, hard work and understanding of music as any other instrument. Music Production is an art. This is the 21st century, it would be nice if people could love music of all genre's and ages, with enough research and understanding of an Artist you can make an informed decision whether or not they deserve the recognition they receive. Most of the time you can just hear it.
He Is A Legand, He Is The Best Piano/Singer Ever Known To Man And He's Blind, I Came Here From Chiddy Bang's Ray Charles Song And He Has An Awsome Song About Him!

The struggles you see on his face are not him not being able to do concerts but feeling the emotions, the music. Get you shit straight
