We're not allowed to question the cost and build for these? Will be disappeared to some gulag? The corporation is non-profit 3 star out of five rating. Only 85% goes to the purpose The company manufacturing is for profit. Seems like considerable room for betterment in several; areas.
Amazing. These bikes look robust. I will definetly forget one of my first world problems, for example thinking i need a carbon handle bar for my road bike. Instead helping another person to get such a bike makes more sense. Respect GCN
Get paid a few days before Christmas. I am 100% donating the 95 quid for one of these bikes. Bicycles definitely change lives. Fantastic work GCN highlighting the incredible work of World Bicycle Relief. I'm in tears watching everyone of these videos. There's is no other means of transport that could be anywhere near as much use to these people as a bike. Inspiring
It's nice to see how bicycles can change an entire region by helping people learn, do chores and also help the local economy. So more potential of change than the car based economy.
The people had zillions of chances to learn and do chores long time ago. Bikes are not solution for their true independence and self sufficiency, though provide a nice touch to the lifestyle. ageconsearch.umn.edu/bitstream/134919/2/fris-1966-06-02-372.pdf
No worries, looks like quite the adventure Dan got up to over there! Shared on Facebook also, maybe can get a couple more :) And let's face it, when am I ever going to be able to say I bought a bike for $150 and it was awesome!?
I love these videos. It is awesome seeing where the donations go. I like that they assemble the bikes locally. That is another way to help the economy there.
I've always liked GCN and now I like them even more. Wonderful series of videos. I was moved to donate to World Bicycle Relief and hope that many others do as well. Thanks Guys!
I am a member of RaceWBR and we are riding a 24hr fundraising ride on Zwift later today. Dan and these videos have really helped get the message out there as to what this actually means and the wonderful benefits to these communities. Great Videos GCN!
Thanks, Dan, for this report and bikes are a means to a better life for all of us, really. And thanks for giving us a chance to support this campaign. It is wonderful to see us come together from all over the world to put our coins in the kettle so kids can get bikes.
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen buffalo bikes. I love Them. Universal and indestructible. Problem is the American market wants aluminum and prolly at least 5 speeds.
Is there a program to repair or recondition the Buffalo bikes as needed? Seems like a good entrepreneurial opportunity for some Zambians ... and / or a side job for the assembly workers at Buffalo bikes.
Dan Lloyd can the cool Brown Buffalo T Shirts and or the Buffalo bike decal/stickers be purchased as an added incentive to give, similar what they do in US or UK charity rides.
Perhaps in China? Higher-end bicycle frames are more likely to be made in Taiwan. I am hoping there is a chance that they are made somewhere more locally.
What do the bike owners do when they need a spare for / repair of the bike? Can they go somewhere to get a new tube/tyre etc? Do they need to pay for that or do repairs come as part of the deal? And what happens if a bike gets stolen?
No one would put "race tyres" on a Buffalo bike. For that matter, no one would call race tires "normal tires." Race tires are intended for races, not for normal use.
Where do they make the frames? Surely that would contribute to the local economy. Also (and worrying):- Plain nuts and bolts in the vibration capital of Africa. Surely there should be nyloc or Threadlock. I'm old enough to remember UK bikes being built with plain nuts and shaking apart.
Do the bikes come with spares, such as inner tubes, tire levers, etc...? From your previous video, it was said that recipients of the bikes get pumps as well. Those aren't much use in the case of a puncture unless it can be fixed. :P
Its a single speed, so there should rather be a simple chain tensioner. Ideally the user should adjust the rear wheel according to a chain stretch over time, but i bet they ride till the chain drops and its no fun in the middle of nowhere without wrenches.
Wonderful! I've coughed up for a new bike for someone but please tell those scrawny, pale Brits to keep there clothes on so as not to frighten any animals or small children.

Head over to gcn.eu/WBR21 to contribute whatever you can to build more Buffalo Bikes
Global Cycling Network single speed with no brakes?
Back pedal brakes 👍
May I ask an accounting question? What percentage of the donation goes to actual purchase of a bike versus overhead at World Bicycle Relief?
Dan you nailed those stickers!

Just donated for a single bike. Such an amazing cause, and a great way to help people help themselves!
Matthew Jenkinson thank you!

Dan nailed the hand shake!
Done. Second year in a row purchasing a bike.. Thank for your good work, GCN.. Merry Christmas
Saudi Mike Thanks Mike!
I like that you learned everyone's names.
I like that you believed it. Lol just kidding sorry.

RICHARD and CAROLINE NOBLE Thanks Richard. All the best with your ride and fundraising.
never known a charity to support before but now i do!
A bike can open and brighten up their future. Very happy to see the children life getting changed by buffalo bikes. GO GCN!!
This really makes me appreciate all I have and the universal impact cycling can have. Just donated a bike!
Andrew Sanders thank you!
@7:20 the handshake
S Jun absolutely nailed it
Their commutes to school would be a dream for many of us in the first world!
riding while its still dark through the bushes in the middle of nowhere, no thanks
Do it all the time and loving it! Too bad it's not part of my commute.
These Buffalo bike videos are a great departure from the usual GCN stuff (not that the other stuff isn't also great) Keep it up.
Thanks Oliver

Thanks for your support Robb!
i like these videos!
Dan...great job. This is a great cause and GCNs involvement helps tremendously
We take a lot for granted , who would have thought a bike could help so much. Well done guys
Only a monster would hate this charitable work. Thanks GCN.
Well in GCN, absolutely brilliant thing you’re doing here! Take a bow!
Fantastic video guys. This is quiet moving.
GCN u guys are the best.. walking 7 kilometers is at lot.. with the buffalo bike the commute is shorter and safer
chapeau GCN! great to give back!
Hope the drones piping on about GCN product placement in recent vids will pipe down after these vids. Awesome work and amazing project.
Have donated already!
But I'm starting to worry at the total- I don't want matt and si arrested for public indecency 😂
Just donated. :D
Also I wanted to know what the gear ratio are the bikes?
Great Work GCN!👌🏻😀
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen buffalo bikes. I love Them. Universal and indestructible. Problem is the American market wants aluminum and prolly at least 5 speeds.
She's beautiful😁
This is awesome well done guys and well done buffalo bicycles. P.s I want a buffalo bicycles t-shirt.
That guy loves to smile 0:49sec
Great idea again guys... why not challenge GMBN or GTN to raise more next year. How about a Buffalo bike on Zwift with GCN kit.
Next weeks GCN maintenance Monday video...
How to build a buffalo bike
Great work...
I like how you said putting on the mudguards was the most delivcate job. Then go over to peeps building and truing wheels...
Hand-built wheels! They discovered the secret weapon of modern bicycles!
excellent video...great cause
Is there a program to repair or recondition the Buffalo bikes as needed? Seems like a good entrepreneurial opportunity for some Zambians ... and / or a side job for the assembly workers at Buffalo bikes.
I wish I could buy one

Good to know that Dan is self aware
For US Federal Employees, World Bike Relief are a CFC agency, allowing payroll deduction giving.
Dan Lloyd can the cool Brown Buffalo T Shirts and or the Buffalo bike decal/stickers be purchased as an added incentive to give, similar what they do in US or UK charity rides.
I hope that they give them some kind of tire pump and patch kit for the tubes i imagine those might not be the easiest to come across there
I think they said in another video that they give a pump. Not sure about patches. I know they train people locally to do repairs.
Great, would love to see the frames made there too! I assume the frames are made in China?
Probably Taiwan.
Perhaps in China? Higher-end bicycle frames are more likely to be made in Taiwan. I am hoping there is a chance that they are made somewhere more locally.
Made in Taiwan. They are Giant frames. Source: www.giant-bicycles.com/int/news/thousands-join-giant-group-for-13th-annual-ride-like-king-event/26133
Do a pro/full Buffalo bike walkthrough!
Erik Alnæs That's coming later today!
Where to buy Buffalo bicycle?
Bikes FTW :D
Nice!
What do they use for chain lube?
i hope no lube at all, dry chain in such sandy condition would last much longer then stuffed with grinding sandy
paste
It's a pretty good-looking bike, actually. Wouldn't worry about single speed and steel frame. Less complicated - better workout.
We should all throw in a little extra for the Awkward Handshake Relief Fund 😜
Pliz come through to Victoria falls in Zimbabwe would love to host you
where are all parts made?
What part of America calls them fenders? I'm very curious, I'm from the west coast and have always called them mud guards.
One of these bikes is equivalent to a good used car in the "developed" world. Radically changes everything.
A good used car here is worth like 20-30 of these bikes ($165 per bike)
Is there an address one could use to send hearing protection to these workers?
Those Buffalo Bikes provide way much more than marginal gains !
What do the bike owners do when they need a spare for / repair of the bike? Can they go somewhere to get a new tube/tyre etc? Do they need to pay for that or do repairs come as part of the deal?
And what happens if a bike gets stolen?
Why would ANYONE give a thumbs down for this?
Why does the bikes have fixed gears. Would a shifter be so much more expensive?
Samot Roger I will explain in tomorrow's video..... ;-)
Samot Roger, that would probably make them harder to maintain
Normal tires only last three months? Since when?
3 months in those conditions is more demanding than what most of ours tires go through in an entire year.
Depends on how many km's you do. Mine last about 6 months if I'm lucky, but I ride hard and do nearly 10000 kms a year.
I have 12,000 km in and will have another 1,000 before the end of the year. My tires are fine.
Timothy Fish Mine are race tyres, on a race bike. Not designed to last lots of KMs.
The bike rims in the video are even wider than my MTB rim :v
Come to Malawi
how do we get them helmets to go with their new bikes?
Do the bikes come with spares, such as inner tubes, tire levers, etc...? From your previous video, it was said that recipients of the bikes get pumps as well. Those aren't much use in the case of a puncture unless it can be fixed. :P
They also get taught how to patch them, plus the tyres are designed with durability in mind rather than performance.
At the end, the buffalo on the door looks a bit inebriated. Someone should fix his eye for him.
That's a surprisingly long 'tag line'
That's awesome. Can they get a bar stool to lean on a lil bit? & or some books on tape with ear buds? Or an inversion table.
No R&D, no "German quality", no carbon, no windtunnel. I like it!
But do they have chainkeepers?!?!?
Its a single speed, so there should rather be a simple chain tensioner. Ideally the user should adjust the rear wheel according to a chain stretch over time, but i bet they ride till the chain drops and its no fun in the middle of nowhere without wrenches.
Joke incoming
Sometimes I feel ashamed. I spent more money for my 3T stem than an entire Buffalo bike (w/o handlebars)
It's canyon bikes on low setting
nice to see people not wearing helmets
And when do they learn how to ride a bike in the first place?
They all look so pissed at Dan
03.20 What?? Only 3 Month of use with regular tires? That's complete bs.
Great concept. But, sadly why is everything still made in China?
I don’t think I really want to see Matt and Si pretty much naked.
Look's like those guys disturbed about your presense
Make a fixed gear version and all those hipsters will be all over it.
This is a great cause to support. But, the PC first naming at every moment was over the top embarrassing.
Wonderful! I've coughed up for a new bike for someone but please tell those scrawny, pale Brits to keep there clothes on so as not to frighten any animals or small children.
Thank you Matt!

...nice ride but damn ,the hub braking system when chain comes off👎🏽🤕long story short
Zero
One whole bike cost cant even buy the latest zipp hubs.
Why no women workers at the factory?
What a disgustingly awful world we live in from many perspectives
These bikes look slow and heavy
They don't look very happy!
Get all those bikes from that scrap heap pile in China
