panzerveps check another bikes presentation. Zabmia has enough fertile land to feed entire Africa, so they can exchange food form Ghana made eco-bikes, though this way WBR guys in Chicago head quarters might be out of profit. th-cam.com/video/8YHH-Iq-0ac/w-d-xo.html
Although I enjoy this little documentary, I'm even more glad to see the three bicycle teams (GCN, GMBN, GTN) gathered in one place. Congratulations GCN!!! and GMBN, GTN for solidarity here in the comments area.
Wow! I know many of us have been watching GCN for quite some time, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting such a heartfelt and inspirational upload today. This is a beautiful portrait of what happens when a group of well-meaning individuals, programs, and organizations come together to really help others and change the world. Like many stated before me, this is the best video on GCN thus far and I am looking forward to your continued series and thanks to your team for putting the time together to share this positivity with the world.
Been genuinely looking forward to this series since you announced it and as everybody has said, this has to be the very best video GCN has released. I think we say this not because of the production quality or humor, but because of the humanist tone and the demonstration of cycling as a universally positive force in the world. I am more convinced than ever, GCN needs a channel dedicated to content like this - cycling culture and activism! Chapeau GCN
Bikes are the future of transportation, over the entire world. That simple. This video shows that in a great way!! Thanks for making this video GCN! Im really grateful
Great video. Imagine the impact this bike may have. Lizzie becomes a nurse, provide better health care and becomes an inspiration to younger girls who, maybe with the help of Buffalo bikes, will become more educated. And the wheels keep turning. THANK YOU, this is the Greatest GCN video ! I bet the making of this video will also be a life changing experience to the GCN team members
Great work Dan, World Bicycle Relief, and GCN for putting a spotlight on this section of the world. First to the detractors, yes theft, violence, and just plain maintenance are serious issues. But, it it very difficult to understand the value system that children like Lizzy are brought into. Subsistence farming is the way of life, and making $300 dollars cash a year is no small feat. This affects everything that they do, so much so that any private possession is often considered shared property. i.e. my brother's/sister's bike is also my bike! So, for each of us, I would say, explore the underlying values, ideals that make it possible to have a more prosperous life. A stable society, basic infrastructure, basic education, access to clean water. These are just a few of the hurdles that must be tackled by people like Lizzy. When everyone has a bike then maybe theft will cease to be a problem, and bike mechanics can become a viable trade for a fortunate few. GCN has really surprised me with their caring spirit and their love for our great sport! Way to GO!!!
An African philosopher once said that as soon as we put a motor on something we lose sight of what a human can honestly do. By providing these bikes we do more for the world and the humans involved than we can ever know. Dan and the boys are making the world a better place one bike at a time. I hope that this project becomes part of the role of the GCN Club. Imagine " GCN Ride for World Bicycle Relief" events all over the globe. We could do it!!
I live in Rwanda in an environment very much like this. It's so cool to hear that GCN is supporting this amazing project. I have so many friends who wake up earlier than 5:00 in order to fetch water, do their chores around the house, and to get to school if they are lucky. Kudos guys!
To those who thinks she seems a bit snobby or uninterested, that is how some kids first act when around foreign people and are expected to use their english under pressure. She is just very shy and nervous about being placed in the spotlight. If you would ride, play, teach or talk with them for a few more days, they will open up and be a happy kid without apprehension. You see this behavior when working with kids in Asia too. Those who are most reserved up front tend to be the most interesting, hardest working and loyal. Its amazing how kids from polar opposite environments have the exact same behavior. Being a computer science major, I used to think that the integrated circuit was the greatest work we as a species have yet accomplished, but the deeper into cycling I get...
Im not zambian but Im a non native english speaker I can confirm this. We mostly know english to translate videos or texts in our heads, but we use our native language for everything else and so when we actually have to use the conversational part its a bit awkward because our pronunciation doesn't match the idea we have in our heads. For example in my head Im using a british accent to write this comment like the guy from the video, but my real accent is a weird mix of american and bad pronunciation
I remembered on what happened back in the late 90’s when there was a Civil war between the Hutus and the Tutsis: Having a bicycle DETERMINES whether you live or you DIE. If you have a bicycle then you’ll getaway riding the bicycle but if you walk? You’re as good as dead. I’m just happy that the people from Africa are now using bicycles for their everyday life. I’m just really humbled on how lucky I am living in America which is a First World country! I can get a bicycle anytime that I wanted and I’m grateful that I have 2 of them and enjoy riding every given chance good weather or not. The bicycle is INDEED the most efficient machine ever invented by man and it was crucial and integral part of the Industrial revolution.
Amazingly inspirational - but I couldn't help but laugh at Lizzie's complete lack of trust in Dan to handle her water, obviously his reputation with mineral waters is world renown!
I just came from my local bike shop. I was reviewing how my new custom bike building process is going (a work of art)... Then I saw this video, after spending so much money on my new bike I would feel bad not helping Lizzy's people. Some new bikes are coming your way
Thank you for helping these children. Thank God for good people like those that donated. I plan to donate as soon as I find a job. Such a beautiful story
In my heart of hearts, to my GCN hero Dan Lloyd and others that make up the GCN crew. From one end of the spectrum to the other...from serious cycling to serious humanitarian help. In our complex and troubled world GCN has shown how cycling can make a global connection for the good of people in need. Thru cycling GCN has always shown seamless differences in nationality, ethnicity, and cultures bringing us all closer instead of being worlds apart. tIts so true...its Global Cycling! many thanks...
A great reality check fellas, well done! Very much felt the power of giving in the video. Just donated a bike. Must be getting older, had to hold the tears back! Tip for anyone over xmas. Rather than but more rubbish we don't need as xmas gifts, donate to charity, simple. More clutter, or something that WILL change lives. Respect to GCN and all the other great inspirational people who have made positive comments. Well done.
Donated last week. Great to see people using a bicycle to better their lives! Seeing all those bikes on the rack at 5:09 with open bar ends because the grip wore thru does make me cringe! When I was a kid I saw a guy doing the normal neighborhood garbage can plywood ramp jump and when he bailed the bars turned and the bar stuck straight into the ground. His knee landed on the opposite bar end removing a perfect circle of knee cap right to the bone from he's right knee. I remember it like it happened yesterday. He was in a cast for what seemed like a year. I hope they're not getting to rad on their Buffalo Bikes!
Incredible how much a bicycle can change the world and the lives of so many people. As a cyclist it's crossed my mind more than once whether or not something like this would work as a means of transport on wheels changes how one operates in the world not just on a lesiurely level, but things like cost, theft, maintenance and such would be major factors. To see this in action and to know it works makes me proud to be a cyclist. It's nice to see that these bikes are also built strong and simple enough to require very little expense to make and maintain, which for a family on a super low income can be a huge problem. Thanks for sharing, GCN.
this is fabulous! I have kids who would prefer that I donate to a real cause rather than buy them "more stuff". So I am buying bikes this year. Thanks guys.
Was gonna buy some new winter tights today but I think Ill donate the cash to this now and just pedal a bit harder to keep warm. Cycling has saved my life in the past and continues to do so on a daily basis. I'm lucky enough to be a cycling instructor and guide and the best bit of my job by far is the opportunity to share cycling with others and seeing how it improves their lives. It can be a life changer for anyone but must be incredible for these kids. What a great cause to donate to. Thanks to GCN for promoting it.
A great job by GCN. Bikes can change lives if you're lucky (and of course it's luck-- where you're born and raised) enough to afford and use one. Hopefully, the Mamil subscribers can acknowledge this and make a donation from their privileged wealth, instead of splashing for that next bit of unnecessary equipment or clothing.
Amazing job GCN and Dan! You could really tell how much he was enjoying himself out there, huge pat on the back mate! I'll be donating a full bicycle myself after seeing these great videos, I challenge everyone who reads this to match me! 😎
just nice to see how much the people in Africa are happy about really active and close help! You guys really do a great job! And such a great bike as an incentive for good performance in school generates double and sustainable value for Africa's future! 👍
Awesome video guys, I just wanted to know if, apart from the pump, the bikes are delivered with spares such as inner tubes or brake pads. Surely after a while on the rugged terrain and facing the elements, the bikes will become worn, and after a while unusable if not taken car of or repaired. Thanks for your replies and goodnight!
Alex Vincent hey Alex, when they distribute the bicycles, they also train up field mechanics in that area to supply spares and help maintain the bikes. It's a really well thought through program!
Great video and well done Dan!!! I 've donated for a wheelset (that was description of the amount ;) ) right at the start of previous week!!!! Fells good when you do a small thing to help somene a lot!!!
that's not a tonne. that's 30 effing kilos, at least. I lived in a semi rural area before, and that bucket is like the ones we used to store water. As the water source was waaaaaay nearer than 3 km, I used to get smaller buckets and bottles and do the trip several times instead of one. That girl? She's a hero.
We hope you enjoy Lizzie's story. If you'd like to make a donation to World Bicycle Relief, you can do so via this link: gcn.eu/WBR17
Afraid we're home already!
Will you be doing a pro Buffalo bike presentation?
"Dropped" - Quite possibly the funniest timing Dan has ever acheived.
panzerveps check another bikes presentation. Zabmia has enough fertile land to feed entire Africa, so they can exchange food form Ghana made eco-bikes, though this way WBR guys in Chicago head quarters might be out of profit.

Global Cycling Network fantastic Dan. What a refreshingly different video. Puts our stupid first-world-marginal-gains foibles in perspective
Inspirational!

Congratulations GCN!!! and GMBN, GTN for solidarity here in the comments area.
You need to see this video. It's amazing the impact that a bike can have on someone's life.
Global Triathlon Network Bike one of the best thing man invented :D
I am married to a Zambian. Having been there several times I can appreciate how having a bike makes a huge difference in life there.

PS: Can you pleaseee release the footage of the entire distribution day? All that work deserves to be celebrated!
Thank you so much Daniel, there's more to come!

She inspires me and I am pretty old and live in America.

One of the best videos of the channel ! Cycling is not only challenging and racing but also a way of life . Well done GCN
Here here! Thank you Spiros!
Bravo GCN and everyone who donated!

Thanks Andres!
And thanks for the music. Awesome video. Not a single helmet or WD40. I wish I could change that somehow for them.

I cried, so happy for her. Thanks GCN for showing this
Thank you! Make sure . you donate.
Done!
Amazingly inspirational - but I couldn't help but laugh at Lizzie's complete lack of trust in Dan to handle her water, obviously his reputation with mineral waters is world renown!
I'm in my tears, Dan and the whole GCN, GTN and GMBN, you are good people!

Dan, you showed great honor and humility in all these vids. Well done. PEOPLE!! Your bike seat cost more than one of these bikes. Get busy giving!!!!
All you good good people. ❤️
This makes me so happy to see.
Thanks for the video. I've donated to WBR for the last few years, and it is great to see the bikes in action. Keep working hard, Lizzie.

It’s amazing to me that there are always people who do a “thumbs down” for videos like this. Much needed love and inspiration in such turbulent times.
This it’s what cycling it’s all about, really happy to see this ❤️, and well done for you guys 💪👏🏽🚵🏻

I'll be genuinely surprised if Dan hasn't put his name stickers on every one of those bikes.
Basil Fumphlinhope Exactly. Imagine dealing with all those hardships in your young life only to be told Dan Lloyd was on his way to see you.
I'm going to shut up and stop complaining now. Thank you Dan and GCN for opening my eyes a little. And go Lizzy!
Now that's why bikes are so amazing. great video guys!
that was sobering to say the least. thank you gcn.
Amazing job GCN and Dan! You could really tell how much he was enjoying himself out there, huge pat on the back mate! I'll be donating a full bicycle myself after seeing these great videos, I challenge everyone who reads this to match me! 😎
Thanks Jeff, means a lot!
just nice to see how much the people in Africa are happy about really active and close help! You guys really do a great job! And such a great bike as an incentive for good performance in school generates double and sustainable value for Africa's future! 👍

Fantastic video, we really don't realise how fortunate we are
I thought Si and Matty won presenter of the year award after that vicious climb. But you just took the cake on this one!
So much awesome in this video! Truly heartwarming
Having a bike made me a reason to live and built me a new dream and passion
Have a feeling this video is very good
Enjoy!
Lizzy actually said, “click the globe to subscribe, click over here to see Matt falling off his bike.”
If I weren't also a broke student I'd jump in on this for sure. This is beautiful.
God Bless Dan Loyd, GCN and World Bicycle Relief for improving the lives of young people in Zambia.
Thank you Walter, and make sure you donate!

best GCN video yet. just donated what is easily less than 1% of my total i've ever spent on bikes and i'm sitting here feeling guilty now.
great work..
helping Poors people ..
My bike just got ordered. It'll be the black one with those Kendal tires.
that's not a tonne. that's 30 effing kilos, at least. I lived in a semi rural area before, and that bucket is like the ones we used to store water. As the water source was waaaaaay nearer than 3 km, I used to get smaller buckets and bottles and do the trip several times instead of one. That girl? She's a hero.
Thank you Dan!!
Good work GCN proud of u guys.
Keep doing such good works.
well done GCN
Must be your best video! Great story and shooting. Really feels like Africa!
