Looks like “Stand up and Buck” has changed a little. Lol. Stay safe and keep it up.
Once a FD brother
Always a FD brother
Great job.Joe was the key.!!!
It makes it easy to cut like that off the ground and don't hurt your back awesome video
Great bucking off the excavator!! Lots less moving of the logs!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
That worked out well. I just told my wife if I ever win the lotto the first thing im buyin is a mini x.
Doesn't get any easier than that, now I want one lol.
Mike & I work together like that too.
Man!!.. that worked out great!!
Awesome help fast & a back saver
That makes quick work of it
That was awesome of Joe to bring his equipment to help Brad!! Joe got to use his machine and Brad ripped through those logs, what a win-win event!!
Only way to go! We use our skid steer and grapple to do the same. Much easyer and faster
That’s better than a processor in some ways. More versatile perhaps.
And you look to be very fortunate take care
Nice job Joe
Thanks, joe!
Great video Brad awesome chainsaw work hello Joe Great boom work.
Hell yeah....The 500i is an absolutely amazing saw
nice machine Joe
"more rounds than I've ever had" I said "better call Val" LOL I'm glad you were able to get right through those piles! Thanks for helping Joe!
Great machine that's for sure!
You guys worked together great. go a lot of wood cut.
Damn! Now I need a thumb on my backhoe!
That's what I call mutual aid on brother firefighter helping another brother great team work
You got that right!
"I get by with a little help from my friends".
Awesome!
Work smarter, not harder!! Great job!!
Nice job joe saved brads back a whole lot. Looked like mike Morgan swinging them logs around
Good days work. Nice that Joe came by to assist and had fun with his new toy. Stay safe.
Stihl and Kubota. 👍
the 500i is a good saw for just about everything. I added the suspension kit, 3 point dogs and a bark box from westcoast saw. that saw will rip with a 25" bar with a skip tooth chain.
HEY Joe , very nice mini excavator . I need to up grade my toys !!! LOL Nice job on the 500i Brad !!! 👍🏻🇺🇸🪵
Brad and Joe getting done ✅ in the 🪵yard ❤😊😮
I use the same method to buck up my wood. I do have a word of advice though that I learned the hard way. Cut from each side back and forth. If you have too much weight on one side you will bend the coupler on the excavator and start to break pivot pins.
Ya it's really hard on it having all that weight out one side, we run a 35I and do this same process. What happens is the guy on the saw gets so excited because the process is sped up so much that they don't not allow the operator to make adjustments. When the machine starts moving stop cutting and step back, the operator is trying to help you not hurt you, this is a case where slower is faster.
All I can say is if you worried about that stuff , roll ur bucket so the back is on the ground , that way the log is balanced and the thumb is holding it in position.. there's no weight on the digger , everyone is safe
Thanks Joe, I am sure Brad would welcome you over anytime to help buck some logs.
hi there well done , lots of good cutting . john
Great work joe. Nice machine
Hi Brad & Joe, That's gotta be one of the fastest ways to buck logs. Fun to watch. Thx Mike🔥🪵🇺🇸
Hiya Joe, you're definitely a smooth operator, very nice of you to give Brad's back a break. Nice machine and sweet trailer.
that is how I roll no better way to Buck
Joe and Brad … Great duo. Nice video. Any time you can use a machine to save your back is a good day. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Joe, excellent machine you have there, and your skills are even better!!! I know Brad appreciates your generous help::::))))))!!
My gf and I have a KX1211-3 we bought used from a friend. Best money we ever spent!
That is a serious pile of locust Brad. Awesome work guys!
Men and Machines were both up to the job, Well Done.
They make a woodplitter thumb for excavators. Would be nice to halve everything from the comfort of a seat.
We all need friends like Joe, we get by with a little help from our friends. Thanks Brad and Joe.
Kenny
Beautiful logs. My suburb logs are brutal to work up.
Brad I thought I was about to learn something new. I was hooked for a minute, then …… let the wind out of my sails. Lol
My biggest bottle neck is bucking logs, but my system works slightly faster then what you just showed, not by much just a little, using my skid steer, so I better stick with it. I’ll put up a video soon showing my method.
Great show non the less…
Make-somedust
Chuck
Great team work.
Fast work you two. Great job
The more I see small excavators the more I realize how handy they are. I’m still at the Bren ting stage for our property usage 💰. Great video… now a bit of splitting and stacking ahead of u.🇺🇸👏🏻🪵👨🚒
Good work, great to have help like this video
I do this with a kioti ck2610 and EA rootrake grapple. I dont get the sideways movement to pile it the way you do but i buck 20’ logs all day by myself at waist level. Cut a little from both sides so i dont break my equipment with uneven loads.
Good work.
Man Joe really helped out on this one. That makes it so much easier than being bent over all day. Nice work guys💪💪
Definitely a back saver Jack.
Great even all the safety gear share makes me jealous
always great to have new Toys to try out. Nice work
That nice and quick and Joe looks to becoming a great operator
Awesome Brad to have help that brings equipment. Good job Joe!
Hello Brad, Fun Video! Cutting the smart and Fun Way! Good job guys, see ya at Bunyan 🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Joe, It appears you need a drop ball for your trailer to level up? The 033 is about all it wants to haul, I believe.
Thanks for giving Brad a hand and hopefully it works out to where you could come back again. Definitely a fast and easy way of making rounds in a hurry!👍👍
We have a lot of black locusts around here but they all are rotting from the inside out. Nice haul there
This is so cool!!!! I love this when the community comes together!!! Great job Joe and Brad!!!!
Nice work joe! That’s pretty cool brad. That’s how we used to do it when I would help my tree buddy with firewood years ago. We also used a mini ex to feed the chipper on big jobs.
I try to hold logs up to buck with the grapple on our loader tractor but it’s not nearly efficient as a mini.
Love it! I got so backed up with tree service wood one time that I rented a mini excavator to do exactly what you did here. It really speeds up the process and saves your back 👍👍
Although, I had to do it solo so I was constantly in and out of the machine. Still worth it though!
Joe seems like a good guy
The kinda people anyone should be proud to know.
Brad if you still got your backhoe attachment that came with your skid steer you can put a thumb on it and used it the same way. Just be a lot of in and out the skid steer. Nice video. Mike Morgan uses his mini excavator the same way a lot. You can get a grapple like skidded kev has to pickup the logs. Just an idea. Have a great day safe
That is what team work is all about. nicely done.
Great show of machines. Awwsome feeling working so well together the first time. Thankz for sharing.
It's really good to have good neighbors and friends like Joe. Great video you got a lot of work done in a short time. Hope to see you at Paul Bunyan show. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
I've been doing it that way for years now, works great. I just pile it up beside my Wolferidge 28C and conveyor. Then wood cutting cutting life is good.
Black locust makes a good bow wood...if there are any bow makers in your area, they'd probably buy some whole logs off of you.
That’s the way to do it for sure! I’m fortunate enough to own a mini x and it’s a huge back and chain saver! I’m kinda in the same boat as you Brad, I’ve got my biggest pile of rounds piled up right now too. I’ve got something new coming to my wood yard so I’m getting prepared lol! Video coming later this week! Take Care Brad!!!
Minis are awesome! But they’re definitely not cheap!
What beautiful locust, so much of the trees around here are full of squirrel holes or rotten sections especially if they are old age🤷♂️
Awesome, thanks Joe! You're clearly a kind, skilled and warm-hearted man. #respect
Yeah Ive been dreaming of getting just that setup , but Im still just only starting to start doing firewood as an activity , but worked a treat
What a great guy! Thanks for letting us watch that 500i EAT!! Thanks Joe!!
I wish he lived closer. I have 45 rounds of hickory in the woods that are 32"- 48" and too big to lift. I am going to have to noodle it. I need something with a grapple to pick them up. I am in SE Ohio and don't know anyone with a grapple.
Hey Joe and Brad. I think I could get used to that system. Mini excavator is definitely on my wish list. See ya a Bunyan Brad
Hello Brad. It looks like you might get alittle spoiled there. It does make the job alot easier and no bending. Hello Joe. Take Care
I use the same method with my Yanmar 3 ton excavator. I can handle up to 90 cm logs (round about 35 inch). I think, with my husky 592 XP-G i can take a good challenge to your 500i 😅
You are correct, it cuts pretty fast you are just holding the weight of the saw. When the engine is not hanging out in air you are holding less weight and at the end of the day you are not as tired.
Next task splitting all that wood
Great job Joe! Im sure you know but if you put your blade down it will help stabalize the machine a little bit for you.
Ooh that'd be a big ask of the financial department 😮
You got that right
Brad you have to be able to justify the escavater ,s cost to the cost of firewood. But I must say it is a useful tool.
Looks like you both worked well with each other. Time for some serious splitting. 😂
I'm Cecil County man myself.
HELO I WAS TOLD IS THIS TRUE YOUR A TROOPER
Retired
thats how I cut all of my wood but I have to run the saw and the machine so its not quite as quick but it definitelysaves on the backaches
Nice
Thanks
what sis I tell ya ! Having a mini in the yard is like sliced bread ! Get 2 saws running and you can do some damage to a pile in short order ! So what kind ya going to get ? hahah
You guys are both cool.
Thanks!
What about the machines?
I would think an air-cooled engine could become overheated on a warm day when it is being used long and hard.
Brad - time to join the trend, and look into excavator ownership. I’ve had my Case Mini Ex for almost 2 years now and it is fantastic for buckin rounds - it is definitely a game changer.
So my landscaping company I will be buying one here soon and I’m looking at Cato yanmar cat or tackahoochie about that same size
So it’s really good to see yet another use for one
10:33 it’s not about the saw, just a sharp chain, that’s all it takes.
Trailer is way overloaded with that machine. Surprised it made it there.
Not sure what the rating is on that trailer
@FirewoodattheFurnace I'd bet those are 3k axles. Those are super awesome trailers just not meant to haul equipment.
Work smarter not harder. Been doing rounds for years like that with either the excavator or skidloader with grapple. Sure saves on your back.
Just be careful he doesn’t accidentally hit the boom while you are sawing. Nice progress though!
