I just finished my weightloss journey. Started at 300lbs and now im 194lbs, I fast weekly and I can vouch for its usefulness. Glad I'm finally here, feels good.
I used intermittent fasting and daily gym sessions to lose 200 lbs in a year or so. Went from 390 to 195 where im at now. Reversed my type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and fatty liver. No more meds or insulin at all.
@armorplates8848 If you don't have the willpower to be on a diet, then you won't have it for maintaining your weight. Look, maybe you're part of the exception, not the rule.
I went 10 months in the hospital without eating after intestinal surgery. I went from 180 to 127. I was in the hospital getting fluids and something called TPN. It looks like milk and they put it into your iv. It gives you some vitamins and minerals you need. I kept getting staph infections and lots of other complications. A hole in my intestine just wouldn’t close. One day I looked in the mirror and the whites of my eyes were yellowish and my skin was a grey tone. I thought for sure I was would die in the next few months. I told the doctor if I was going to die I wanted to go do some fun things first (I was 24). I had a drain in my side with a bag that collected fluids. Although it was stitched into my skin, my body had partially healed around the tube. Amazingly my doctor said ok and I went to a movie that night. As I walked down the aisle the tube got wrapped around an armrest and was ripped out of my insides completely. I won’t even begin to describe how that felt. I went straight back to the hospital and by the time I got a scan the hole had closed. Apparently the tube had migrated into the hole and was keeping it open. I healed up and was out of the hospital two weeks later. In an indirect way, The Matrix saved my life, lol.
Yeah definitely malpractice. But honestly, I think your Guardian Angel gave you a little nudge to get that tube out of there so you could finally heal up.
Not discipline like you'd think. You lose your appetite after a few days when your body shuts down your digestive system and goes into ketosis. But it takes faith in yourself and your bodies natural ability to heal.
Not really. Don't trust anything a celebrity says in the first place. They have publicists that coach them what to say and even if they do stuff they usually have a whole team of people that help them do stuff like that. It's amazing how easy life becomes if you have a few million or more. Let me quote Tom in Succession: Money is a superpower. And the rich will literally use it and tell you how strong and amazing they are.
There is a cut off for me, I notice after 3 days even if I’m chugging water, I just can’t seem to stay hydrated enough. I’d say just do what feels right, don’t stay comfortable but don’t kill yourself
Kevin James is actually INSANELY strong. During production of 'Here comes the boom.' He ACTUALLY lifted his opponent above his head without assistance which is VERY hard to do.
@@jillhumphrys9349 i remember him from other movies when he wasn't as fat as his role as security guard in a mall. Bro was big, yes, but massive as fuck
I got into a car accident that ended up bashing my head against the pavement. Spent a few days in the hospital going in and out of consciousness and didn't eat hardly anything the entire time. After getting out and for about 2 months I couldn't eat more than about two pieces of toast at meal. In those two months I lost 60 pounds. Probably not the healthiest weight cut but damn did it work like a charm.
Glad you're doing better man. I got hit by a car while on my bike and had the same thing happen to me. I wasn't wearing a helmet :/. But i got better after a brief stay in the hospital. God is good.
Respects. I did 20 days and was a challenge. Same, only water and salt, magnesium and potassium. You have never felt "true" hunger until you make a prolonged fast. My fatty liver was cured and within acceptable ranges when tested 2 months after the prolonged fast.
Congratulation. I havea much respect of you. However. Kevin is not telling the truth. I have recorded statistics during fasting. The body is shuttnig down many systems. Heartbeat, pressure and sugar level is so down. Nobody can lose in 30 days 40 lbs. Thats physically not possible.
The hard part about stopping eating is starting back up again. I’m skinny but sometimes I’m poor so I’ve gone days without eating and i can put up with the hunger but the sickness you get when trying to start eating again is awful
The last time I fasted I went 21 days. The first week was the hardest but after the first week I was actually able to cook for my roommate without even wanting to eat. It was euphoric and honestly I never felt better both during and after. It's all about mind over matter.
@@angiedillman7963 I actually had two jobs at that time, a full time day job and part time 4 nights a week. Both took incredible amounts of energy but I never once felt weak or energy deprived. Stop being like everyone else on social media and commenting on things you know nothing about. At least do research or better yet, try experiencing something before commenting on it. Just keep in mind that everyone's system is different so everyone's experiences will be different. Just because something might be impossible for a group of people doesn't mean there isn't someone who can accomplish it. I did it! I experienced it!
@@angiedillman7963 I live a very physical lifestyle. Even on my heavy training days, with my body stats, I still burn more at rest than training. The average healthy human has 600,000 to 800,000 calories worth of body fat in reserve. A 1 hour run burns 600 calories, so that’s 1000 hours of running at least. And that’s without food. But we cannot access this fat unless we fast and turn on the switch to ketosis. Yes if not we have to rely on keep eating to get energy, you are right. I suggest you check out the term ketosis. Fasting has changed the lives and healths of thousands , if not millions across the world. It is not a fad. Many people train fasted and still make significant gains. It is all about understanding the science of our bodies.
*What most people do NOT understand is that you can fast for a VERY long time as long as you keep your electrolytes stable!! On about the 3rd day, you will get an incredibly clear head and a natural high type feeling!!*
Fourth day for me, the second and third days are the most difficult. I did a full week with only water many times, since about 5 years. It is very healthy
Yes! So true. I am 72 and have done five 10-day water fasts ( distilled water ) in my lifetime. I do it every ten years or so. I become very clear headed , peaceful, and strong 💧
Damn I’ve tried to explain this to so many people. People always ask how I don’t get tired or have energy to work out when I do this. I tell them after a few days you feel really good and like you said almost feels like a natural high!!
I used to do 36 hour fasts once a month. It was great. And put my metabolism into hyper drive. After 24 hours I was hungry but I'd go to sleep on that hunger, wake up and could literally skip breakfast no problem. And yes, my head felt clear as well
I'm not sure which I'd rather have die; this copy/paste comment that means nothing or the people who still think its funny and post it like its original...either way, gfy mother.
I did a 28 day water/tea/coffee/electrolytes “no sugar” and lost 35 lbs. A bit of the weight was water weight but I lost a ton of fat. No carbs tends to dry the body out a bit. The funny thing was that after about day 5 I had no hunger issues and maintaining my electrolytes prevented any headaches or cramping. My teeth and mouth health improved more than I realized was possibly. My blood pressure completely stabilized by week 2 and remains a 107/71. My blood sugar improved, it wasn’t bad at all but I was concerned if it slowly kept ticking upward that I might have problems in a decade or so. I also learned that fasting can greatly improve digestion/intestinal issues. I regularly use small fasts now for my own IBS and I’m virtually symptom free. I feel this video. I cannot say enough hours much better I felt at the end. Yes it’s hard. Food is great. But for the amount of shit the average American consumes, I figured 4 weeks of nothing would be okay. I’m glad I was correct!
You are absolutely correct and I've done similar fasts. A key point in your comment is the amount of garbage that we eat in the U.S. Changing your diet is easy, resisting cravings and the constant enticements to eat junk, is VERY hard!
What are these "electrolytes" ? Is that a drink? More details on how you kept yourself from gagging? Bcuz of my morning meds, I'd drink milk and avoid a carb for something solid in my stomach. But 'oh man,' I feel and my body looks so good with my OMAD.
@@longmelindaelectrolytes are, at the most basic level, salt... There's more to it really. But salt is the majority I think. The most popular electrolyte drink is probably Gatorade... The zero sugar versions would be the best if you're considering a prolonged fast with Gatorade for electrolytes... But they make electrolyte supplements that you can add to water instead... Less expensive than buying a bunch of Gatorade/Powerade... I've used "Elyte" and I've heard good things about "LMNT" brand...
@@longmelindaelectrolytes are needed in your body to make sure electric impulses between your nerves can be transporter properly. Without them, the nerves can’t communicate, which leads to cramps and headaches and stuff. I’m no expert and the only electrolyte I can think of is salt. This is also why there’s videos of dead fish starting to shake when rubbed with salt, the salt sends electric impulses through the nerves. So usually electrolytes are taken in by eating food every day. But you can buy them in pharmacies to mix them with water in case of a hangover/fast/athleticism or whatever
Same I lasted around 5 weeks, I lost close to 60 pounds. Would've been more but I had 1 piece of toast with peanut butter on it for lunch each day lol. Without that I probably would've lost another 10 pounds but didn't figure it was worth going 100% food free considering I was still working at the time.
Me personally the trick was getting past the first 48 hours once 72 hours passes you no longer consider food. You just have to reacclimate your time spent to no longer make food, buy food, or eat it. It's crazy how much time you realize you get back. Me personally I've only gone 7 days tops and I broke it. You also need to monitor your heart rate and ketones. As your ketosis levels elevate your physical output feels very stressful. That's why he was mentioning water and electrolytes.
Yep. Biggest revelation for me. How much time I thought about, shopped, prepared, stored, ate food. How much time I went to the kitchen, drive to get something to eat or drink. Open and closed my refrigerator. It was crazy to realize how big a part of my day it was.
@@Kangaroobob It depends on the person health wise. Ketosis is extrememly dangerous to some people and you should definitely seek advice from a medical professional before trying something like this.

I would recommend easing into it. Get on a keto diet for a few week before the fast. That way your body is already adapted to using fats and it wont be such a shock when it's not getting carbs. You can add intermittent fasting to this too so it's even a smoother transition to a fast. Just going cold turkey on a fast might be rough if you haven't done it a lot.

The most I've gone is 30 days fasting, no food just water. I did it twice and both times I worked a full 40 hours per week, and I took four buses a day to get to work and home, and I felt fine. My dad can do this long fasting too. The important thing is to break the fast slowly and start with low carb foods or sallads. And continue to eat healthy.
Only obese people can do this safely. Fat is a food source, when you’re obese fasting is much easier. Most healthy adults doing this will lose allot of muscle and stress their hearts out. 3 days a month fasting is all any healthy adult needs to rejuvenate their health.
It took me a month to lose 30 pounds so I dont doubt it but it's hard to wrap my head around because I worked my butt off to lose that weight and I was in my 20s at the time. The first 20 pounds or so usually goes away fast since it's just water weight

During a certain point of fasting your body increases in degrading and recycling cellular components in a process called autophagy. Take this with a grain of salt as I don't remember the specific numbers but this increases 3x to 300x at certain periods of fasting/longer it is. 40 days is most likely enough to clear up skin, it can potentially help with lose skin in weight loss with periodic fasting for 1-3 years. Also, muscle loss can occur during fasting, but it's after a long period, very little, and can be grown back faster to it's starting point due to "memory" (you already built the cells). You will only lose muscle if you don't use it, if you only walked the muscles you used for walking would be fine. You might have lost some chest, back, etc.
I actually did something very similar, not necessarily just fasting but I pretty much only ate vegetables like tomato and cucumbers that are full in fibers and water, surprisingly they were quite filling and had almost no calories. The pain only really lasts a week, after the 10th day I stopped feeling pain and got used to it. I still went to bed feeling hungry but when I woke up I would be good for over half the day before I would feel remotely hungry.
Problem with extended fasting is rapid muscle loss. I'm very buff at 190 and my waist is 32". When I was fasting a lot, I was 170lbs and my waist was the same measurement at 32", but my arms, chest, and legs were several inches smaller, I lost mostly muscle. This could have been mitigated by getting protein and a little fat every 8-16 hours. It's genuinely easier to eat whole food meals, just less of it and plenty of protein. With fasting, your hormones and mood are less stable and muscle protein synthesis stops. Most people are trying to lose fat and not muscle. When you're at high body fat percent, it's easy to build muscle and lose fat, but below around 20% and especially below 15% it's best to eat regularly to stabilize mood and energy levels

YES I have lost A LOT of weight twice in my life. You can literally eat anything. You just have to stop eatting so much lol. This lady on FB the other day was saying "we have a obesity problem because corporations charge $20 for a salad, and $3 for a burger." I was like, are you serious? You don't have to eat salad to lose weight dumby. Some people just want to be fat and have am excuse.
@@jayonthemoney he may have I’m going on what he told me. He had water and plan weak tea and I believe he did it Raymond Dury was that kinda guy. In 1983 I was recently out of high school going through union electricians school and worked weekends and evenings as his helper…. He was a carpenter.
I fasted for four days, and I felt great. At the end of the fourth day I ate an apple and sucked the core dry, I never had a better apple in my life. Fasting for forty-one days would be crazy.
If you can do 4 days you can do 40 ... I've done it. The first week is the hardest then it gets easier. But don't get me wrong it's not easy but definitely rewarding.
The issue with these fasting diets is that you put on weight much easier after eating normally again due to metabolism changes. I’ve made that mistake and have realized that it’s just easier to change how you eat day to day, with balanced meals and regular exercise.
Pretty sure out of every weight loss method, extended fasting is the fastest way to lose the weight and not gain it back. As someone who has done plenty of fasts, I can say it's pretty easy to keep the weight off as your stomach shrinks, your appetite is significantly reduced and you break any cravings/addictions you may have. If you finish your fast and then you just start forcing yourself to eat even when you're not hungry then sure you will gain the weight back, but that's just natural weight gain, not a rubber-banding effect like you see in traditional dieting.
He’s not joking. I did 40 days of fasting when I was in jail for a year and lost 38 lbs, pretty much 1 lb a day. My mind never worked so clearly or precisely in all my life I was literally on the next dimension of consciousness. But my sheer weakness was unbelievable I couldn’t even wash my legs in the shower for the fear of passing out was too great from bending over. I read all 3 major religious books in that time the Bible, Quran and the Kabbalah. My understanding for them all was incredible. By far the most interesting of the books was the Kabbalah. But I’ll never forget that time, as I proved to myself that I could do that hence I can literally do anything I set my mind to. Side Note: while I was in there I read in the newspaper a famous hunger strike worker died on his 66th day of not eating, and I started to think of that being a possibility for me because of the incredibly strong feelings of weakness coupled with almost fainting every time I stood up😅
when you say fasting, do you mean 12-18 hour s no food and then eating. rinse and repeat. or do you literally mean not eating anything for 40 days. just water?
I lost 30 lb in 3 weeks just from BEING in jail. I ate but I'm normally 6' 5" 260 and they gave the tiniest portions at the jail I was at. I didn't work out or anything, just laid there hungry the entire time. It was the worst part about being in there.
@@davycrocket4858 I was in jail once and let me tell you that the food in Lehigh County Prison was f#@$ing disgusting! I wouldn't feed that crap to a starving dog! The first time I went to eat breakfast, it was a disgusting oatmeal type thing, I actually gagged and almost threw up. And When I looked around the cell block the first day inside, I noticed there was a really tall heavyset/fat dude and I asked my cellie how that dude could be so fat with such small portions of food AND it being disgusting. He said that the dude, and other inmates, stock up on commissary food every week as long as they have money on their books. And I happened to be there when big man got his commissary delivery, there were packs upon packs of ramen noodles soups, beef jerky and cheese packs, and just an unbelievable amount of different snacks.
Honestly, his timeline does fit. I lost 49 lbs fasting for 25 days. I was going for 30 but my kidneys hurt a ton and I blacked out and fell at one point.
I lost 44lbs in 29 days, I used a proper electrolytes supplement to stop what happened to you! I only did it through curiosity!! I've put it all back on now 😂 this was about 18 months ago😂
I did a fast on nothing but a powdered cup soup twice a day, plenty of water. did that fit a month, lost about 30lbs. then did gradually larger portions of either chilli con carne or chicken fajita bowls. made with plenty of bell peppers, onions, rice and beans. no need to eat something bland like boiled chicken breast and broccoli. just meal prepped a month worth of each in one go, since the probs we're so small. theb freezer most of it. lost another 30lbs over the next month and a half. felt great during it too. made me be able to get over my old wearing habits. though at the same time it made me realise how some people could develop eating disorders. there were some days when I felt like eating something extra, and if find myself feeling annoyed that I'd done that, and also found myself about to mindless eat like I used to. every moment like that became a point where I realised I needed to really rationalise what I was doing and make sure I wasnt reinforcing certain thought patterns. if I ate a chocolate biscuit and found myself thinking things like "that was stupid, I could have lost an extra 0.05 of a lb today if I hadn't eaten that" I had to make sure to reframe my thinking, because it would be bad to reinforce the habit of worrying over one biscuit. but at the same time I had to make sure to reframe my thinking in a way where I want making it so that I didn't care what I ate because that would end up back at square one. I had to find the healthy middle ground. and then also I found it helpful to practice overcoming mindless eating. I would go to where I would usually get snack food, pick up the food, out it to my mouth, then put it back. pick it up again, put it back, walk away, come back an hour later to that over again. after a day or two I just never habitually went back, practicing being in control enough to do myself at any point meant I only ate when I knew I needed to eat it when I knew I could eat a snack and it be within the amount I was going to eat that day. but then at the same time I recognised that being obsessed over exactoy how much I ate in a day also wasn't healthy, so I had tobreframe that and make it more about being able to eat whatever i felt like one day and knowing I could adjust my diet on other days to account for it. unfortunately some health issues have lead to me putting some weight back on, but I know I can lose it whenever I need to.
I’d be careful with this, I know it’s anecdotal but I lost about 100lbs basically fasting, I’d eat a couple egg whites for breakfast and have a head of lettuce with vinegar for dinner for months straight and afterwards I had a mental break, couldn’t think, couldn’t function. I went to work and could not form sentences, and was like my brain was empty and my coworkers were telling me I was scaring them. I remember spending 5 hours at night trying to remember how to set my alarm clock before I finally went to the hospital. After having to leave my job it was years of racing thoughts, and I don’t mean intrusive thoughts or thinking fast, I mean it felt like my brain was broken and every thought I’d ever had in my life was in the forefront of my head simultaneously leaving me in my bed unable to do anything for days at a time. 10+ years later I still have anxiety and depression, can only manage part time work and struggle with my mental health, as well as have put back on most of the weight. You hear experts warn others to not lose weight too fast, to do it gradually and get plenty of nutrients, I don’t know if this is what cause my mental break and issues, but regardless I still think that’s good advice.

I would recommend easing into it. Get on a keto diet for a few week before the fast. That way your body is already adapted to using fats and it wont be such a shock when it's not getting carbs. You can add intermittent fasting to this too so it's even a smoother transition to a fast.

Healthy eating & a lot of physical activities are needed to maintain a good physique.
To have the weight loss permanent. 1 full year must be reached with the weight loss being maintained & the body will have a reset to "new normal" parameters. If not, you will regain what you lost, especially if your still eating the same crap that made you unhealthy to begin with. That is the undisclosed reason why so many fail to achieve their weight loss goals.
ALL fast food & nearly everything in Grocery stores are filled with poisonous chemicals which causes slowed down metabolism, unwanted fat gain, mental fog, & illnesses from inflammation of the body's immunity.
That's why it's important to read the food labels & research what's in the "food" you eat & drink.
Example: Pepsi was *sued for putting flame retardant in their sports drink.
Literally the only option is to eat organic all of the time. That's why they are making growing your own foods illegal, and much more. A healthy person is not a patient/customer.

Fasting is amazing! I lost 20lbs fasting and still maintaining it a year later 💪

But I’ll never forget that time, as I proved to myself that I could do that hence I can literally do anything I set my mind to. I lost 44lbs in 29 days, I used a proper electrolytes supplement to stop what happened to you! I only did it through curiosity!! I've put it all back on now 😂 this was about 18 months ago😂
I’ve done 23 in 19 days so it’s possible
Same happened to me. I never blacked out before in my life before that.
The way he just stares at him while he’s laughing is killing me 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha
We eatin over here big dawg
He's a beast love Kevin
He is ass
That’s not fasting, that’s starving 😂
he has the fat stores to sustain him.
That’s not fasting my friend that is just an extremely low calorie unhealthy diet
@@travispratt6327 your problem is that you weren’t fasting, you just had an extremely bad low calorie diet
That's not a fast. Fast = Just water
@@censoredeveryday3320 a cup soup won't take your body out of the biological process that occur when fasting. So no, it is the same as a fast, but it helps to eat something containing fat to absorb fat soluble vitamins.
41 days without food? This man couldn’t even walk past a bakery without gobbling up the entire store.
I’m sure he’s more disciplined than you.. big hero hide behind his keyboard.
Guy looks like he hasn’t eaten in the last 41 seconds
Bruh😂😂

Kevin James is a real one
Personally i still can't imagine not eating for 3 days and not feeling absolutely terrible but hats off to this guy.
Try it. Day 1 is hard. Early day 2 is hardish but it then becomes easier. Just don't push your body physically during this time.
It's only bad in the first days, then it's fine IF you are not burning a lot of calories.
After 3 or 4 days you start to feel really good . When your body goes into ketosis the endorphins and serotonin and all the good things kicks in. It feels like your on top of the world😊
I've fasted for 3 days b4 and I felt great lost weight and kept it off I fasted for months like this everything gets better.
@joycemansfield1108 how long in between each fast? How did you go about eating again when your fast was over and it was time to eat normally again? What did you eat/drink during your fasts (I imagine just water and such)? Genuine questions and I really hope you respond.
He's definitely telling the truth! I never got that far, that's a goal.
