For option sellers you need to have buyers and this is universal. Equilibrium will be established only when buyers are there and one cannot avoid. If they discourage buyers then it will land in a bear market where option sellers will be speed breakers.
Pls think about this no matter the lot size or margin money enhanced ,even option buyers if they learn can make money.

Like I do itm selling and hedging with otm buying, which reduces my margin and risk as well. so what will I be called as? now if I buy 2lot of hedge against 1 lot of selling, why will I be called an option buyer?
After the day ends, in the trading ledger, all we see is sell price greater than buy price if we make profit. whether we sell or buy positions, the ledger remains the same.

Your suggestion that "SEBI should introduce regulations to deter buyers" seems to conflict with the fundamental nature of Futures & Options (F&O), where buying is a common strategy for portfolio hedging. A more feasible solution might be to link the permission to buy options to the size of one's equity portfolio. For instance, if someone has an equity portfolio worth 5 lakhs, they should be allowed to buy options proportionate to that value. This approach could prevent newcomers from treating F&O markets like a gambling platform.

Please don't mislead it's not between option buyer or sellers, it's about reducing hero zero trades and gamble trades. Gamble trades can also happen from sellers side by selling naked options below 10rs on the day of expiry, the solution would be to reduce expiries to only one expiry per index a month, and secondly increasing contract size to increase barrier for small retail traders, and i donno why sunderji is speaking like this like a novice, if option buyers are greatly affected it will also affect option sellers, because the money option buyers loose is the money option sellers make, coz trading is a zero sum game, there's no industrial production happening here. If the rules are more favourable to option sellers also the profitability of option sellers has to come down, because there's no one to loose money to feed option sellers... at the end sebi or FM willnot earn something to feed all traders, it's all an equilibrium, if that is disturbed it affects everyone!!

This indicates that even after the newly proposed very harsh measures may not have any effect and losses to raw traders will continue. This is nothing unique to India.
