    I love stopping to read history plaques because it tells you such interesting facts that you might be so surprised by!

      Totally agree!! There is so much fascinating information in the plaques and boards at Minehead too.

    Enjoyed this walk, Butlins has certainly changed since I was there ! but rest of prom looks the same. Like all the artworks. Great narration with all the facts. 😊

      Thank you Caroline!! It was hard to pick what facts to include as there was so much info on the boards along the prom. I love all the artworks too! I find them really uplifting and that they enhance the walk.
      I have visited Butlins but never stayed! Funnily enough I have recently been invited to a friend’s birthday weekend there! I might have to go and see what it is like to stay at! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Lol Good old Minehead. A stereotypical stick of rock and bucket and spade kinda place . 😂😍
    You made it look really good in your video.

    Bloomin heck, I have been away for a few days & you have gone over 789 subscribers, which I was going to mention, you are nearly 800. What a great place Minehead is. Loved the pictures/photos on the promenade & the plaques with maritime history. The Blenheim gardens look beautiful. Thanks for sharing all this with us.

    Wow, you. could see the sea, when I went you had to squint to see it as it was sooooo far out 🤣
    Hopefully, the roadworks are gone now which were blocking the path by the activity centre towards Dunster (right at the end of the route). The bit I could do when I was there was nice - it meanders alongside part of the West Somerset Railway station as it heads towards the main road and the level crossing where there is an old Caledonian Sleeper carriage. Admittedly it then just follows the main road.
    The Metal Heads are created by Steve Herd and they're all over Minehead. I think they're permanent installations and more are added over time. They even have their own Facebook page.

    • @SouthWestSundays
      @SouthWestSundays  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brilliant! Thanks Jesse! Good to know all this! Not sure about the roadworks as I did not explore that way on this visit. Thanks for making me aware of the possibility of them.
      Ooo.. I will check out the Minehead Metalheads Facebook page! Thank you!

    Tremendous work has gone into the editing on this - I loved your tilted square cut out when you were looking at the 'Obby Oss' plaque Louise - I always forget that Minehead as well as Padstow have an 'Obby Oss' Day.
    This is was a wonderful, gentle and relaxing stroll along the prom, around the harbour and through the park in Minehead. You noticed things there that I have never seen before. I loved the 3D relief plaques along the harbour wall. As you say a lot of skill went into those, as did your video too.
    As ever, your music choices were superb.
    Excellent!😊

    • @SouthWestSundays
      @SouthWestSundays  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Paul!! Yes, a fair amount of work went into the editing but it was so enjoyable.
      Each time I edit a video I seem to learn something new and it’s brilliant to build on what I learn video by video to make each one even bettterly (is that a word 🤣?) edited than the last.
      Hopefully it adds to the enjoyment factor for viewers, the better edited the video.
      I absolutely love editing these days.
      I used to think it was just joining clips together to a music but as you know from editing your fantastic work, there is way more to it than that.
      I love putting myself in the viewer’s eyes and ears and creating the very best possible video for them possible.
      It was so nice on this day to spend time really appreciating all that Minehead has to offer.

    Every time I hear the word Minehead, I think about the delicious Indian meal we ate there! haha... I'm a bit food obsessed ;-) BTW the restaurant was Alcombe Tandoori, if you're interested

    A really great video on a sunny July day Louise. I was pleased you started your walk from Butlins end as a contrast from the Gimbal walk tv video I watched months ago. I think the Minehead clock is more like the Lyme Regis clock.😉. Thanks for showing us lots of things and some of the town. That park looks inviting. Is it less windy there?

    • @SouthWestSundays
      @SouthWestSundays  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Cathy!
      Haha! Yes, when I watched it back I was thinking it looks more like the Lyme Regis Clock! Not really sure why I said Weymouth 🤣
      The park is so inviting. On the day of my visit it was a bit less breezy in the park but I enjoyed the rustling of the trees as I walked through them.

    Great Video Louise, Minehead is such a wonderful place. I am pretty sure the bench at 18.33 in the video is a Ricky Gervais After life bench. Visited it last year

    what a wonderful trip I made with you around my favourite Minehead at a cup of cream tea. Thank you, Louise! Your presentation of the material, music, atmosphere you create are beautiful. Keep on! I've heard Arthur Clarke was born in Minehead and lived his childhood there.

    Good morning Louise. I must say you have a very efficient wind muff on your microphone. No distortion at all. Many of those information signs you saw must be quite recent. Although I haven't been there for a few years, they are new to me. Where do the Coaster buses run to and from? Lovely video and well filmed. Take care x

    • @SouthWestSundays
      @SouthWestSundays  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Yes! I am very pleased with the mind muff. It’s a little tiny thing that makes a big difference.
      The Coaster bus runs between Minehead and Lynmouth. It climbs up Porlock Hill and heads over the moor past County Gate and the Ramblers Rest Tea Rooms there.
      I can’t link to it here, but on my channel (about a year ago exactly) I posted a video showing the gorgeous trip. It has a photo of the bus on the thumbnail
      It’s in the West Country Transport playlist on the channel but if you just Google Exmoor Coaster Bus video it often comes up as first on the list.
      Thank you for the lovely compliments on this video 🤗
