I honestly think Monster Capsule is one of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! games in particular. In Breed and Battle, those high octane matches are extremely fun and each monster has their own unique gimmick to make them all special. It's like an advanced version of chess, and that's why it's good 👍

One positive about capsule monsters that I don't think I've heard anyone else mention is that I think it has the best design for the characters. Yugi especially looks cooler with a heavier jacket for some reason.

Not trapped, but Shadi also tried to read Yugi's mind at the end of Duelist Kingdom only to almost fall victim to a trap within the labyrinths of the Millenium Puzzle but being saved last minute by the concious manifestation of Yugi, who says that his other half has secrets he wants kept hidden, but isn't inherently a bad person who wants to hurt people.

Well, it's easy to answer what went wrong with Capsule Monsters - it was responsible for GX getting dubbed late and - as a result - Season 4 of the show not getting dubbed.
For the best honestly, because I doubt the dub would try to make much sense of the Japanese dub's retcon of Zane's cause of death in Season 3 anyways.

    • @lpfan4491
      @lpfan4491 ปีที่แล้ว +5

It will never not be a weird thing that one of the biggest positives of the dubcontinuity is that Zane actually died. One would think the fanbase hates the character with a statement like that, but the death actually happens at the end of the season where he stops being overly antagonistic and starts being properly likable.

Well completely forgot about watching this. Also remember reading the manga section about capsule monsters. You know it probably had something to do with the cash grab but I like to think that people that worked on it also were passionate about it. I probably shamelessly in love Yu-Gi-Oh duel monsters and anything attached to it. And I would have watched more episodes if they had made more lol. They could make any new manga/anime based around the original Yu-Gi-Oh an I'd still watch it today. As long as I felt there were people passionate about it working on it. Rip Kazuki Takahashi his creations will always be apart of some of the best memories I had as a child.

I've had the idea of making a video myself about how 4kids handled the yugioh anime and how in many ways.... they actually kind of improved on it. Well, some of it.
The introduction of the shadow realm/shadow games added an air of mysticism to the series, especially since they would never need to explain it. Not to mention, the original OST they created for the series, while different in tone to the japanese version, I think added a lot to the series. The Egyptian theming and instruments create so much atmosphere to the fact that Atem is supposed to be an Egyptian pharaoh. This is something that the original series' music totally missed out on.
These are just a few of the things I'd prolly talk about. If you'd wanna make a video for yourself, be my guest.

I don't think it was ever intended to go further than this, it was just a fun spin-off. I think maybe it could be reworked to include Kaiba, give Joey a bigger role etc. by doing something similar to the Waking the Dragons arc where Alexander tricks all three of them there through different methods (Yugi actually goes with his grandpa on the expedition, Joey gets given the free trip and takes Tea and Tristan if you absolutely need them and Kaiba is told of "the power to rival the Egyptian Gods" or something) and all three get the armor, Kaiba merges with Blue-Eyes (they could even have straight up made him Kaibaman), Joey with Red-Eyes (like in that one episode), and Yugi with DM and later MoBC.

I liked the Idea of Game variants that use a gameboard (Capsule Monsters, Dungeon Dice Monsters, or moving the cards on a field like "Duelist of the Roses"/the Labyrinth of the Paradox Brothers). The advantage over the cardgame is that their is another tactical aspect with the moving of the Models and in some cases that multiple monsters can overwelm a strong monster. Games like these would have made more sence for a "Duel Academy" for example, being more "Tabletopstyle" games since simply building a Deck and drawing cards.

I really liked this arc actually, it was creative and new. The battles were very engaging, particularly the final boss battle against Alexander. The fact that he also had a supporting team and one piece of fusing armour made it feel very 'balanced'. Also cool is how it's set up like an RPG campaign where the Yugi & co. first get super crappy monsters but then build toward much more powerful and iconic ones like BLS and Red-Eyes.

Here's what I would've done. The story would be set shortly after season 5 and before The Dark Side of Dimensions. Atem would only appear in flashbacks as Yugi is now on his own. Capsule monsters starts to skyrocket in popularity and Kaiba releases a new duel disk for the game. Joey wins a trip to India, Yugi and his friends duel Alexander the Great, yadayadayada... There would be a post-credits scene in the final episode where archeologists in Mexico come across ancient statues of monsters, turns out these monsters were a part of a mystical game that was played by the Aztecs. We end on a cliffhanger as the monsters come to life and surround the team of archeologists.

i think the concept was ahead of its time. If it had come out 10 years later it still would have beat skylanders in the collectable game figure market. I think that the proper use of this is in a videogame with a Pokemon skylanders like figure collector gimik rather than a tabletop game. A problem with the game is the same thing that was an issue in early yugioh. That the game came down to who had the bigger beatstick. There was potential with using more monster effects, but I don't think that 4kids could balance a game mechanic like that on their own; konami can barely do it themselves.

I had the DVD of the first part of the anime, but I seriously never saw the Capsule Monsters game in stores. Hell, more stores carried the Pokemon TFG!

Even though it was a spin off. Yugi having the millennium puzzle would make no sense cause capsule monsters released a year after the original series ended and if you remember yugi put the millenium puzzle back in the alter and set the pharaohs soul free

I really enjoyed dungeon dice monsters. I wish ddm or this capsule monster game was given another chance as a mobile app similar to that of duel links

I enjoyed it very much, didn’t think it was it’s own series though, I thought it was part of the series after Grand Championship. I had fun with the show, I actually have the capsule monster ps2 game which is also an A+ game

If I were to rework Capsule Monsters it would be something like the following:
Have it so Solemnen isn’t away on some Business trip randomly... have it so Pegasus & Kaiba contacted The Ishizu & Solemn. On this joint effort to understand this unique oddity.
    In World:
Each World is it’s own dungeon... with their own Dungeon Masters.
    • We could incorporate Past Yugioh Villains by having their darkness as Dungeon Masters...
•. Yugi & his friends are trapped & need to defeat the Masters to undo the seals keeping them in this place.
    • I would keep the part about Alexander the Great... but have it so he was sealed away a long time ago & unwittingly acts as the last seal... unless he can get equally Strong individuals to replace him.
    • In the end, they defeat Alexander the Great within the Seal... but not before we get a glimps of Zork Necroshades’ Shadow.
    • In the End Shadi comes & free everyone & gives The Pharoh a Warning.
*History will repeat itself & the Great Darkness will reawaken... Beware the Theif King & His Master.*

I didnt mind the anime, and the PS2 game was a massive part of my childhood. I even played through a really well done mod by some guy on youtube who's name slips my mind.

This entire time I thought it was just a spinoff episode of the original Series that just happened to be two movies long I had no idea it was 4kids attempting to create a new series.

The problem with capsule Monsters and dungeon dice monsters in Real life is. It is way more expensive to make the little figures than just cards. So as long the interest is not that high like yugioh it will always fail. The problem is even when the interest is there you cant sell the game for 10 bucks like a yugioh starter deck because its so expensive to make. so its more like 30/40 bucks for a starter set with these figures.
Which is really sad because I always loved capsule monsters in season 0 manga and dungeon dice monsters

Nothing went wrong. Capsules came out right when the original one ended and if you were unfortunate like me who as a child didn't have cable at the time means you were locked out of Yugioh GX which was already airing at the time. So going from knowing nothing but yugioh as a fourth grader to suddenly without it left a huge hole if not a shock to the system in highschool. But then capsule monsters came out which was a enjoyable mini spin off as a way to come into terms that the show was definitely going away forever but made it easier to move on from yugioh.
