Ok, now I have to pick one of these up. I have been low-key looking for a dslr to run my old screw drive focus lenses and this is going to be what does that. Thank you Carmine.
I don't currently have a D700 body, but I bought this 300mm lens in mint condition from eBay for £250 here in the U.K. last year. I'm super impressed as it is not only great on my D3s & D3x bodies, but also really beautiful smooth manual focusing on the FTZ converter for my Z5.
Carmine you just raised the price of the D 700 by $200.00. eBay loves it when reviews are done on cameras. All that being said I am still happy you told us about this camera I will be looking forward to getting mine.
I can't help to mention it, but I got my hands on a Nikon D700 about a month and a half ago. And believe me, what everyone has been saying about it is not hype, it's real. This camera does exactly what all the hype is about. Period.
Last year I treated myself to an old D700 as an upgrade to a D300. I absolutely loved it but during a bout of 'GAS', decided to sell to fund a further upgrade to a D4. The D4 is a fantastic camera but somehow lacked the 'soul' of the D700 and so just recently I acquired my second D700 and fell back in love with those unique colours. This one's got some clicks on it (145,000) but I have a suspicion it's the same kevlar and carbon fibre shutter used in the D3 (rated at 300,000 clicks). Fingers crossed, but for just £165 GBP ($210 USD) I'm having a lot of fun!
Yep, I still have my old D700. Very good camera. But "professional camera", - no that was D3 and D300 etc. And the D700 uses the same battery as the D90 and the same battery and batterygrip as the D300s.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Nikon D700 The Nikon D700 is a professional-grade full-frame digital single-lens reflex camera introduced by the Nikon Corporation in July 2008 and manufactured in Japan.[2] It uses the same 12.1-megapixel "FX" CMOS image sensor as the Nikon D3, and is Nikon's second full-frame digital SLR camera. The D700's full-frame sensor allows the use of F-mount (FX) lenses to their fullest advantage, with almost no crop factor. When a cropped DX lens is mounted on the D700, either the DX-sized portion, or the (vignetted) FX-sized portion of the camera's sensor can be used. The D700 has a built in autofocus motor for all Nikon autofocus-lenses, includes CPU and metering for older Nikon F-mount AI/AI-S lenses,[3] and supports PC-E lenses.[4] The D700 bears a physical similarity to the Nikon D300, which uses the same MB-D10 battery pack and EN-EL3e battery. It was discontinued on August 24, 2012.[5]
@CarmineTavernaPhotography Ok, maybe I'm wrong :-). At least many pros used the D700. I have the nov/des 2008 issue of American Photo where Nikon had ads for the D3/D300 (Camera of the Year) and the new D700, a slimmed-down version of the full frame flagship. The viewfinder "only" cover 95%. My crop D300s covers 100%.
I remember years ago seeing beautiful landscape photos, usually fall color ones posted by a young ladie in one of the Outdoor Nature magazines at B&N. She would list all the meta data & list Auto Mode. Beautiful colors rendering rite out of the box! I almost purchased one back in 2016 but felt the used price was high & opted for the D810 new on sale. No regrets but wallet still complains once in a while.😊

Wonderful news..cheers :)
I ordered the D700 the day it was announced and have used it ever since. As I write this I'm waiting for a D3 to arrive to keep the D700 company!
@nikonmark37814 Awesome. The Nikon D3 and D700 are full Frame masterpieces.

its heavy and wont take N.A.I. lens but it loves Gs n Ds for best and its two cameras for one.
The Nikon D700 only weighs 995 grams. The Nikon Z9 weighs 1,340 grams
Between the metal body and the weather seals, the D700 is a well-built camera designed for use in the harshest of conditions
