It’s every filmmaker’s dream, $1,250,000 dollars to make the documentary you’ve always wanted. But Yes Theory said no. “Project Iceman” is a documentary about the man who completed an Iron Man Triathlon in the most dangerous place on earth, Antarctica. Even more impressively, this movie was funded entirely by the subscribers of the TH-cam channel Yes Theory. We sat down with Ammar and his DP/Editor Victor. In our conversation, we explored how the editing process was challenging, how they prioritized emotion in their visual storytelling, and what this means for the future of TH-cam filmmakers.

Hayden this was an awesome podcast. Maybe I'm bias because you + Yes Theory are my 2 favourite YT channels, but you guys discussed such valuable topics. Ammar's whole philosophy is so good about what stories he wants to share - Ryan Trahan made similar comments also
    Great pod

I love the struggle about creative ambition and budgeting - the reality is projects need funding, but it comes at a cost (no pun intended), and the YT team knew the vision and did not compromise.
To YT's credit their work has helped share that vision with their subscribers, so a call to have them help further cements their relationship. The quality of the film has repaid that investment tenfold. So awesome to have the privilege to see that work unfold.

    EXTREMELY inspiring!
A powerful approach to demonstrate how creators need to JUST BE the vision. Becoming the vision is far different from chasing it. Show up with heart, and the outer world will reflect that same energy back at us. This is that magnetic energy society should be operating from.
    Let’s GROW 🌊🌊🌊🙌🏽

The fact Ammar says you need someone to actually feel it instead of using theory to cut for the good stuff makes me feel so much better about my edits. I get there are times when that's best but majority of my "second drafts" always happen based off feeling and that's what we upload.

I am loving this video series. The main question I have is how one deals with editing videos that the presenter is controversial. I must admit, every reference to a "Paul" video, I tune out. Every Logan video is one that I would never watch. But I would watch every Hiller video. And absolutely ever Editing Podcast episode. Great editors work with many clients. And the editor is not responsible for the content a creator makes. But what is the impact on editors for the content they have to make? I am starting in the industry, and the thought of being attached to a damaging creator makes me not want to do the editing.
