The cool thing about The Force Awakens game is the fact they got the entire cast to voice multiple parts of the game that weren't in the movie. Including both Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. It's so worth getting especially since it's on sale. I got the ultimate edition for $8.
@@SirMoFoDans4 Somehow they did. Most of the lines from the cutscenes were audio ripped directly from the movie, but the in-game lines were pretty much all original.

I was super stoked for the Skywalker Saga when it was announced, but it really feels like it was a double edged sword. We got a really nice looking overhaul for all the old Lego Star Wars trilogy adaptations (sad the clone wars was left out tho) with pretty fun combat when it's there, but it feels like they kinda forgot these games are meant to be hack and slash adventure games with puzzle elements and instead just focused on the puzzle element and walking through areas parts. I love the Skywalker Saga despite its flaws, it just makes me a little sad that it isn't as much of a "wow" moment as the original Lego Star Wars was back when I got it on PS2.
I would ADORE a sequel to Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars covering Seasons 3 - 7. That would simply be incredible. Heck, if TT Games were ambitious, they could just throw in Rebels, The Bad Batch and Tales of the Jedi too, even if they just come as bonus levels. For me, I would appreciate a return to that art style, too, although I'm probably - and sadly - one of the only people who LOVED the Clone Wars sets and minifigure art styles. Lego Star Wars III is - by far - my favourite LEGO Star Wars game, and I would absolutely adore another game with the same awesome side game modes (ground battles and space battles were the most epic modes ever as a kid, a ton of fun, and they have still aged pretty well) and same style of open world, gameplay, and character roster/designs; they could perhaps implement a Skywalker Saga style open world but instead make Clone Wars specific planets explorable instead, although I for one wouldn't mind just the Republic - Seperatist Hub distinction bridged between a gigantic space battle, however. Man, this all just sounds amazing in my head... A man can dream.
Honestly feels like what would happen if Ubisoft made a Lego game. Sure, it looks incredible and the open world is huge, but most of the objectives and side quests feel like pointless busy work and the combat is not the star of the show. I guess they're better adaptations of the movies as opposed to The Complete Saga where it's just constantly solving puzzles, doing platforming and fighting enemies that weren't originally present, but at that point I'd rather just watch the movies.
So instead of a thought-out trilo- I mean game series, that you were expecting with variety and fun gameplay the series is known for, you got an open world puzzle game that's a shadow of it's former self? You must have enjoyed having your expectations subverted. It's a very fitting game series for the last trilogy, in more ways than one.

LEGO TFA is the most underrated LEGO Star Wars game IMO. Sure the main story was a bit padded out but you can't say any corners were cut to give it to you in five levels and a series of hub missions you can never replay. Plus the lion's share of those bonus levels actually tell an interconnected narrative set between RotJ and TFA, which was a big deal back in 2015. The remaining bonus levels mostly take place concurrently to the film and help to flesh out the story by showing new perspectives. It's more complete than Skywalker Saga and more cohesive than TCW.
TT Games were completely unable to work on Episode 9 levels until after the movie was out. They didn't know what new worlds to make or what planets would need new sections if they returned in Episode 9 (i.e. Mustafar and Tatooine)
Can we just acknowledge that the Final Boss in The Skywalker Saga, assuming you play it chronologically, isn't Kylo Ren or The Emperor but BB-9E. I feel like TT Games should have taken some creative liberty and made Palpatine into more of a boss fight that ends in the lightning QTE.
I think there were a lot of problems behind the scenes of The Skywalker Saga. They've obviously switched focus from bigger levels (like the Tantive IV or Han's freighter) to open zones with very short levels consisting mostly of boss battles. And to be honest, I don't really like this formula. My guess is that it started with LEGO Dimensions, when they released character packs without any levels. It also seems like they are currently having major problems with whatever they do next, with rumors of LEGO Mickey Mouse & Friends being worked on for Disney's 100 year celebrations, then that game being cancelled, then LEGO Batman 4, then that being cancelled, then a level DLC for Skywalker Saga and I don't even know anymore what they are working on. I would prefer them going back to how they did LEGO games in like 2015 or 2016, when they were able to turn more games out. I 100%'ed LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens and LEGO Jurassic World as well as LEGO Incredibles and would love more of this. Maybe a LEGO Doctor Who game? The developers of LEGO Dimensions obviously loved the franchise (a second level pack was being worked on when the game was cancelled) and the 60th anniversary of that show is coming up soon. Or they can finally get around to do a LEGO Marvel vs. DC Super Heroes game...
Their next game is allegedly a LEGO Harry Potter one in the style of Skywalker Saga... even though that's pretty much what Hogwarts: Legacy was. Idk, if it looks decent I might pirate it.
All things considered, there isn’t really much media that exists right now that can work for a lego adaptation. We have to remember, the primary market for these games is children, so the games have to be properties that children enjoy. That’s kinda why Hobbit and Lord of The Rings are often forgotten about, because they aren’t movies a lot of kids would be interested in (I’m open to been proven wrong), so the nostalgia isn’t there. In saying that, it would be cool to see TT Games adapt something from Ninjago. Maybe a game akin to SWS (so they can improve the flaws) that covers the earlier seasons. The only issue with that is the fact Kirby Morrow is dead, and Lloyd has a new VO, so it wouldn’t be the same when doing the earlier stuff.
@@minecraftWithDanielD Understandable point but there is one very big franchise that children love yet LEGO hasn't adapted it in over seven years, that series being the MCU. Granted, it's not made for kids (hence the consistent PG-13 rating) but almost any kid who knows who Lloyd Garmaddon is also knows who Tony Stark is. While LEGO LOTR seems disproportionately forgotten about, I agree, both the Hobbit films and LEGO game weren't the best IMO (they didn't even have the full trilogy in the latter) so that could be why that one specifically was forgotten. Harry Potter is also a LEGO game duology few people have nostalgia for today (unlike, say, LEGO Indiana Jones 1, which was based on a mostly older-targeted property) despite both games being great and based on a series loved by kids of the time so I'm not 100% sure if this is always the case but your logic still makes sense. And maybe LEGO Harry Potter did do pretty well financially if they're making another.
As much as being able to play those bonus levels were a benefit, I wish Lego Star Wars IV wasn't just about TFA, especially since that adaptation would've had to be remade from scratch years later. Not basing the game on Rebels was a major missed opportunity.
I seriously don't get the frustration with open world. That's its best feature. It's vast. So many things that's not "busy work." Plenty of unique missions across dozens of planets. But he wants to keep condescendingly complain about "walking" (not even showing them walking 90% of the time. They r sprinting super fast) from one mission to another. The point is to introduce the open world you can explore after the story. And you don't HAVE to just "walk" to the next mission. There's other things/characters you can explore in between. That's the point. The planets details are gorgeous. And no one can seem to appreciate that complaining about "walking" to next mission while passing all this cool shit.
My problem with the Skywalker Saga is that the developers for some unkown reason had the need to cut each movie into 5 levels, so many of the best parts of the movies are missing their own gameplay segments.
The Lego games actually made me more fond of the prequels, if the new game had been more like the old ones it could have been a big deal for the sequels... for me at least
"Only released 7 years apart" man, time really flies huh? Lego Clone Wars & the first game were only released 6 years apart but that felt like an eternity to me.
i can tell you might not be the biggest fan of the films, but watching a video covering a piece of sequels media that doesn't constantly bash the material is very refreshing.
If the Prequels got so mercilessly bashed that even child actors are the target of The fanbase's and reviewer's scorn, then I'm sure the Sequels can take a few mean videos here and there.
Honestly your videos are so informative and they have the perfect touch of comedy to them. I’m going through something at the moment and your videos always make me laugh and elevate my mood during these times! Keep it up man and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for the future!
It really feels like Skywalker Saga misunderstood why we play these games. We don’t want to relive the movies so much as build and fight our way through wacky versions of them. Thankfully the hub worlds are fun to mess around in.
there is definitely a lot more potential for the sequel games. they completely left out the casino level for example cause they knew people didnt like that in the movie. they were too afraid to put too much effort into the sequels, but i think the sequels are actually better for turning into a game than the originals were.
Yeah. A space battle level for the final fight at Exegol or the battle of Crait as well in the speeders or the falcon would have been cool to play in the game. Hopefully an update or DLC includes them.
6:05 In terms of the story you’re right. When it comes to the actual levels you are mistaken, at least for the 3Ds version. The 3Ds version features levels that start out the same as the main console ones but then have totally different end sections and some different overworld puzzles. It didn’t start with the episode 6 levels, they were instead unlockable bonus levels. You could also make your own character. There were also some arcade like mini games sprinkled throughout the overworlds and a couple loading screen mini games while the levels loaded. Tl;dr They are not all the same
The Skywalker Saga was one of the biggest let downs ive ever seen. Half of the "story" was just walking in the open areas to get to the next point instead of connecting them together through story events like in older games. Cutting out parts to make it short so you can play all of the game without getting burnt out, yet you get burnt out by finishing just one of the movies. Why they didnt incoporate the battles from Lego Star wars III, or the really nice lightsabers from Force Awakens, or just expanding it to be the biggest and best Lego Star Wars it could be is just wrong. Push development back another year and let it get really fleshed out, heck, release it one saga at a time over the course of a few years and sell it $30 for each saga. Its just crazy that you dont get the fun or nostalgia from the previous games for "The Skywalker Saga".
IIRC Didnt Skywalker Saga also skip the scene where you see the Starkiller base destroy a solar system? TFA didnt. ...thats kinda my biggest problem with Skywalker Saga, several cool scenes that are either heavily cut down, or just flat out skipped and ignored...
To be honest, I did not know there were Sequel Lego Star Wars games. I mean, I probably should have assumed they existed...but yeah. I have such good memories of playing the OG, Lego Star Wars 2, and "The Complete Saga". Back in the day, my like, 5 year old little brother overwrote my nearly 100% Lego Star Wars (original) save >:(
Love Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga and The Force Awakens, they’re both fun in their own rights and I loved playing through both of them, though I do prefer The Skywalker Saga tbh. 👍🏻
FINALLY! Good to see you finally getting back to making game version comparison videos! I played through the sequel trilogy first when I played The Skywalker Saga, because The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker hadn't been adapted into LEGO games yet. Although I kind of agree with you; it did seem like the developers put more effort into the original and prequel trilogies than the sequel trilogy. Also, I kind of wish that they had made Rogue One and Solo into full story levels instead of just DLC character packs. Can't wait to see you do the video on LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars! Additionally, while playing The Skywalker Saga, I kind of started thinking that the next LEGO game should be the Marvel Cinematic Universe. LEGO Marvel: The Infinity Saga and LEGO Marvel: The Multiverse Saga. They could be released in small chunks, with each chunk consisting of a phase of the MCU, with Phases 4 and 5 being further split into the movies and the TV shows. It would end up being a huge "mega game" where each Phase can basically be considered its own game but then the smaller games combine together to form likely the biggest LEGO game ever. Sure, this sounds like it would be difficult or almost impossible, but a man can dream.
I agree with you in terms of more effort in the original trilogy levels at least, but the sequel trilogy levels were the most enjoyable for me and felt unique. OT were bigger and PT were simpler with good charm
Its kinda off topic but i remember the gba version of the prequels were the design of the character wont change throughout the story. So you had an ep1 obi wan fighting against ep2 anakin while phase 1 clones and b1 battledroids were shooting at you on mustafar.
As someone who grew up playing movie tie-in games where the story was stretched to fill an entire game I loved the standalone Force Awakens game! I'm a sucker for games extending movie scenes and this one did it pretty well most of the time (I could do without the level in which you search the resistance base for Wookie cookies). I also loved the gameplay improvements and all the little jokes and details and the fact that the boss battles are pretty varied, which overall makes this my favourite Lego game. The Skywalker Saga felt like such a huge letdown in comparison! Of course I didn't expect it to extend the movie scenes like TFA did, but it didn't even cover all the important movie scenes. Plus it kinda lost its charm and the jokes during gameplay. There aren't even many proper vehicle sections outside of flying through space and all the boss battles play the same.
Honestly, LSWTSS should've been what LSWTFA was but for all of the movies, and with less expansion. LSWTSS is more side quest and collection based than about the movies, which like the 9 movies totally aren't what the skywalker saga is......
Honestly, I vastly prefer TFA’s standalone version. Its levels are more involved, and ironically, the writing is far better fleshed out. You see the main cast actually bond as characters, which is benefited greatly by reusing the entire film cast. Let’s not forget Phasma finally getting a real boss battle. It’s also worth noting the 3PO level is actually based on a well-received comic from around the time, which is how it got in. There’s even an ANH homage level connected to it where playing as Phasma, you besiege the ship. The villain levels are really elaborate, even if they aren’t crucial. It’s for those reasons I was originally expecting the same would be achieved with Skywalker Saga, only for it to be lots of walking and middling jokes. I’ll take a meaningful stand-alone story over a bland but bigger retelling of the whole saga.
It would have been nice if Skywalker Saga had incorporated a bit more of the attention to detail from Force Awakens, since it seems like a modern LEGO version of the older games, but with enough flare to keep it fresh (though having to spend hours in one level might be pushing it). I know. Giving six movies this treatment and still having sidequests everywhere is unrealistic to have any kind of reasonable development schedule for a game, but I think a few sidestory levels might have been more interesting than just doing a sidequest that involves kind of getting the gist of all the stories going on in the background (not that I don't like a lot of these sidequests to get Ponda an arm or help a random Sith Acolyte with his chores).
One thing that bothers me about the skywalker saga is Kylos lightsaber. In lego TFA it actually had a cross guard and in the skywalker saga it just extends to the sides towards the bottom. Its small but it bothers me
The skywalker saga burnt out my enjoyment of Lego games. It was the perfect formula for a complete set of Star Wars games, but it was so damn dull…yet packed to the brim with content 🤔
Am I the only one who finds it funny that he says EVERY version of the sequel trilogy in Lego games, but forgot the iOS/android version of LEGO Star Wars the force awakens?
Nice video it's true the biggest reason the game got delayed (covid excluded) so much was the sequel trilogy, the didn't know how to make them more funny they struggle and I think the final results are shown
Complete Saga is better than the TFA game but even the TFA game was honestly better than SS, Skywalker Saga had waaaay too many sections that you can’t replay unless you make a new save file, levels that were too short and waaaay too much open word drudgery
It's interesting that you rank Rise of Skywalker right behind Revenge of the Sith, given how the Rise of Skywalker reduced Palpatine to the most cartoonish and senseless character imaginable. Not at all like the clever manipulator in George Lucas' films.
Me too. Hoping for a new game to flesh it out more. I just hope for smaller scale games that won't take too long, cause a Rogue Squadron game with Poe and the Resistance, or a Shooter with Finn or Phasma would be fun.
looking back, i get the feeling you REALLY didn't like the sequels and you really didn't want to make this video but you promised you'd be covering all nine films so you kinda HAD to make this video lmao
Honestly felt like Lego put way more effort in the levels / open world hubs for the originals and sequels, honestly can't blame em. I really liked LSWTFA and LSWTSS for it's graphics, open world, better gameplay and bonus missions / bounty hunter quests that added to the immersion. I guess I didn't like mission 5 and 7 in Force Awakens and most of the prequel levels (or episode 1 and 2 ones) but besides that no complaints from me Also Rey didn't steal the skywalker name, both Luke and Leia approved. Rey Skywalker all the way
I dont know how i feel about the skwalker saga I tried to play the first movie but its just so boring walk hear then walk there no real levels except big boss fights and vehicle sections
Just so you know the devs give zero fucks and this is all a joke like the films. For Kylo Ren battle, the Aurbesh says "serious daddy issues" and for sovereign protectors it says "they protec but they also attac"
I remember once thinking of a lego Star Wars rouge one video game that would also have episode 4 in it as well but maybe for a prologue level like for the force awakens with the ending of return of the Jedi it would be the obi wan vs Anakin fight on Mustafar. Would anyone play that?
I really loved the Skywalker saga, the open worlds were like Mario Odyssey levels with all the bricks to collect. The only bit I didn't like was having to play through the awful sequels and remember they exist. Rushed them quickly to get them over with.
Hey i liked Episode 7. I didn't lose interest until Rian fucked up part 8 and ruined Luke Skywalker and really fucked over a lot of the characters especially Finn
I love skywalker saga, but I'm not gonna defend the sequels. It feels like the developers didn't like the sequels and didn't have much content to work with. They are the sequels after all. But overall, there was not enough content and I don't think they liked the sequels

Honestly your videos are so informative and they have the perfect touch of comedy to them. I’m going through something at the moment and your videos always make me laugh and elevate my mood during these times! Keep it up man and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for the future!

I agree since it's only based on one movie(exleding ROTJ)
they needed to make more puzzles and features to be popular
Tl;dr They are not all the same
All bosses:
Forse awakens:
2:52 FN-2199
3:27 kylo ren(final boss)
Skywalker saga:
8:18 phasma
8:39 kylo ren(final boss)
Last jedi:
9:24 dreadnought
10:21 luke
10:48 red guards
11:13 phasma
11:39 kylo ren(final boss)
Rise of skywalker:
12:58 kylo ren
13:39 palpatine(final boss)
I have been waiting for this. Shame they didn't bring back the bonus levels from Force Awakens to Skywalker Saga.
I will always love these movies
To be honest, I did not know there were Sequel Lego Star Wars games.
I mean, I probably should have assumed they existed...but yeah. I have such good memories of playing the OG, Lego Star Wars 2, and "The Complete Saga".
Back in the day, my like, 5 year old little brother overwrote my nearly 100% Lego Star Wars (original) save >:(
Is it safe to say yet that I like the sequel trilogy?
Love Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga and The Force Awakens, they’re both fun in their own rights and I loved playing through both of them, though I do prefer The Skywalker Saga tbh. 👍🏻
Another Flandrew video! Hell yeah!🎉 Great comparison.
I absolutely loved the cover mechanics in Force Awakens. I don't no why, but it was cool when I was 10 years old.
Great video as always Flandrew!
Just wondering, would you also compare the LEGO Indiana jones games when dial of destiny comes out?
Its kinda off topic but i remember the gba version of the prequels were the design of the character wont change throughout the story. So you had an ep1 obi wan fighting against ep2 anakin while phase 1 clones and b1 battledroids were shooting at you on mustafar.
There's a rumor that Lego Harry Potter is getting the Skywalker saga treatment. If that game becomes a reality one day, please cover it 😁
As someone who grew up playing movie tie-in games where the story was stretched to fill an entire game I loved the standalone Force Awakens game!
11:16 Ah yes the ever infamous AT-ST
Yay, there it is! Happy Easter/Happy Holidays and may the Force be with you...always.
fun watching you cover all these star wars lego games, would you ever consider covering the kotor games? would love to get your take on them :)
I love the barely veiled contempt for the source material in this one, lol
And the characters looked super shiny.
Its small but it bothers me
dont forget lego star wars force awakens 3ds/ios/android.
The 3ds, psvita and mobile version of lego tfa are completely different from the main version
Any chance you could do a short addendum highlighting the differences between the console version of TFA and the 3DS version?
3:35 I guess you can call her Freeze Rey
The skywalker saga burnt out my enjoyment of Lego games. It was the perfect formula for a complete set of Star Wars games, but it was so damn dull…yet packed to the brim with content 🤔
I’m still pissed that the first mission of episode 3 wasn’t a 3 part space and like it is now
Am I the only one who finds it funny that he says EVERY version of the sequel trilogy in Lego games, but forgot the iOS/android version of LEGO Star Wars the force awakens?
Next video about Lego the clone wars please!
I played the Skywalker trilogy version yet remembered nothing about it.
Why does Rey walk like Catwoman from the Arkham Games?
10:28 the rule of 2 but the sith are replaced with Jedi
I want more on this serise so bad
God I miss your vids...
Love not only the savage comment about the sequel but how even the skywalker saga cared more about ep 1-6 than the fanfic 7-9
Thank you
I wish I could loose a pound a week but you can’t help me with that.
I can give you my PayPal username
Nice video it's true the biggest reason the game got delayed (covid excluded) so much was the sequel trilogy, the didn't know how to make them more funny they struggle and I think the final results are shown
source: it was revealed to me in a dream
The Force Awakens was a very underrated game.
Very much felt like you were playing the movie.
The movie is a masterpiece btw.
Complete Saga is better than the TFA game but even the TFA game was honestly better than SS, Skywalker Saga had waaaay too many sections that you can’t replay unless you make a new save file, levels that were too short and waaaay too much open word drudgery
I'm not afraid to say the the rise of Skywalker is my 2nd fav star wars film and rey is my 2nd fav character
💀
What’s your favorite?
@@jackmanning1117 revenge of the sith
It's interesting that you rank Rise of Skywalker right behind Revenge of the Sith, given how the Rise of Skywalker reduced Palpatine to the most cartoonish and senseless character imaginable. Not at all like the clever manipulator in George Lucas' films.
I love the Last Jedi, it's my favorite Star Wars of all time, but it truely isn't well suited for a Lego adventure games.
It's a great film
I love the sequels so much
Same
Me too. Hoping for a new game to flesh it out more. I just hope for smaller scale games that won't take too long, cause a Rogue Squadron game with Poe and the Resistance, or a Shooter with Finn or Phasma would be fun.
13:16 He's It-alien!
it's obvious your dislike for the sequels effected your effort making this video. unfortunate.
This’ll be a fun comment section…
Hold up! So The Force Awakens LEGO Game has Kathleen Kennedy as a plausible character… and not George Lucas?!?!
I know right? Very insulting.
JJ Abrams is also in the game.
kathleen kennedy minifig lol
looking back, i get the feeling you REALLY didn't like the sequels and you really didn't want to make this video but you promised you'd be covering all nine films so you kinda HAD to make this video lmao
I notice you are not the biggest fan of the sequels. I approve! 10/10
That’s why I love skywalker saga more than lego Star Wars the force awakens video game.
The 3ds version is different from the console versions, I would know, I own it.
Lol i love how you can hear the disdain for the sequel trilogy in Flandrew's voice
Playing episode 9 almost made me quit the game
Games should have more content than a two hour movie? Weird take on the TFA game.
The Force Awakens has a game on mobile, that you dont show
Honestly felt like Lego put way more effort in the levels / open world hubs for the originals and sequels, honestly can't blame em. I really liked LSWTFA and LSWTSS for it's graphics, open world, better gameplay and bonus missions / bounty hunter quests that added to the immersion. I guess I didn't like mission 5 and 7 in Force Awakens and most of the prequel levels (or episode 1 and 2 ones) but besides that no complaints from me
Also Rey didn't steal the skywalker name, both Luke and Leia approved. Rey Skywalker all the way
Still a stupid name when Rey barely interacted with Leia or Luke enough to form a connection.
Yes.
The sequels were good. I didn’t watch any of them until this year but they did alright. But I don’t play Lego games drew please try something new
I remember once thinking of a lego Star Wars rouge one video game that would also have episode 4 in it as well but maybe for a prologue level like for the force awakens with the ending of return of the Jedi it would be the obi wan vs Anakin fight on Mustafar. Would anyone play that?
I really loved the Skywalker saga, the open worlds were like Mario Odyssey levels with all the bricks to collect. The only bit I didn't like was having to play through the awful sequels and remember they exist. Rushed them quickly to get them over with.
As a fan of the Sequels I know this comment section will be a cesspit of whining about how "Star Wars is dead" and all that other garbage.
It is.
I like the sequels too.
Wow you’re so persecuted, it’s an opinion, you’re allowed to have it. People are allowed to like or dislike whatever.
The Sequels are fantastic
Hey i liked Episode 7. I didn't lose interest until Rian fucked up part 8 and ruined Luke Skywalker and really fucked over a lot of the characters especially Finn
I poohed my pants. Happy Easter drewbert
I love skywalker saga, but I'm not gonna defend the sequels. It feels like the developers didn't like the sequels and didn't have much content to work with. They are the sequels after all. But overall, there was not enough content and I don't think they liked the sequels
The devs are paid by them. Even lego games aren't safe from this terrible current day crap.
The only one I've played was the force awakens mobile app version.
Its my obligation to buy Lego Star Wars Foreskin Awakens because i want to complete a Wii U collection lol
If they made a lego game that was just the sequel trilogy how many sales do you think it would get?
I was so sad about The Skywalker Saga game.
I feel like lego star wars Skywalker saga was very disapointing.
I mean some people pretend the sequels aren't canon
