Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with all new gameplay. For the first time, players can choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style. Two years after the defeat of Outworld's ruler, Shao Kahn, Shinnok attacks Earthrealm with his army of Netherrealm demons, as well as Earthrealm warriors who were killed during Kahn's invasion and are now resurrected as revenants under Quan Chi's control. After fighting their fallen comrades, a strike team led by Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Kenshi open a portal to Raiden's Sky Temple and head to the Jinsei Chamber, the source of Earthrealm's life force, where Raiden and Fujin are seen battling Shinnok and his Netherrealm forces.
Mortal Kombat 9 follows the end of the Armageddon war, all warriors from the realms have been killed, leaving only Raiden and Shao Kahn remaining. Having defeated Blaze, Shao Khan is imbued with godlike power and easily overpowers Raiden. Before being killed by Shao Khan, Raiden uses one last spell to send a message to his past self through his shattered amulet, with the vague message "He must win." During the events of the first tournament from the first game, the past Raiden sees visions of the future due to the message he received and notices his amulet has been damaged. Raiden concludes that Liu Kang must win the tournament to save Earthrealm.

The ultimate rivalry so recognizable that this two are basically the mascots of the entire franchise even though they are not the story’s main focus.
Also Fun fact the guy who is voicing kiu liang/scorpion is the same one who voiced Jin Sakai from ghost of tsushima

Stop writing childish statemens who is better, they are equal but Sub Zero in the end got the biggest win cause he turned Scorpion away from hes wrongly aqused revenge. Of course that's Kuai Liang, Bi-Han is nowhere near to he's younger brother and he never will be, though i am glad hes history is reversed in MK 11 timeline and we have there 2 GM.

@@anonymouse4083 dude… did you actually pay attention to the series? Kaui Liang only became Sub-Zero after his brother, Bi-Han died. Bi-Han was the eldest and first of the two SZs. Not to mention that Kuai’s original name was Tundra.

Once Boon took over & hired his imbecile head Writer Dominic both of them made it there mission to always put their boyfriend Scorpion on top & threw out what the original Co-Creator/Head writer John Tobias established of both SubZero(s) & Scorpion are equals. Greatest character development is letting his favorite Scorpion take Ls here & there to his Rival. I'm glad MK1 is going in the toilet & how lazy it story was after the hype died down 😂 💀
