Hello, do you have a video removing the crankshaft by any chance? i kinda messed up riding my FX 650 without cheching the oil, and i think (after researching heavy engine knock) i messed up the piston rod and/or cranckshaft. thank you.

Unfortunately I haven't had to dive into the crankcase quite yet, however on Thumpertalk there's a breakdown of rebuilding the entire motor. Additionally, the factory service manual can be found for free on the main XR650L group under the files section on Facebook. Best of luck & thanks for watching!

May I ask why the new piston and cylinder or why your doing the work low compression, piston slap?

overheated on highway after hours of 80mph where there wasnt enough piston to wall clearance
