I went with the Clarke 4.7 gallon tank, a range of 340km/ 211 miles, there is no need to move the signal lights. mounting instructions easy to follow. after seeing what you had to go through I'm happy iI purchased the Clarke !
Thanks for the video. It shows just what a pain the install can be! I just installed this tank today (07/04/2024) on my XR650L. I used Sil-Glyde (NAPA), a lubricant, on the factory rubber tank mounts. The tank slides really easy over the mounts this way and no modification to the mount is necessary. That does not mean it is easy to install! I still had to use a ratchet strap on both sides to get the front mounts bolted up. I also ran my fuel line on the right side in back of the carb so I didn't have to deal with the cables. I fit the fuel line on the left side the way you did. Enjoy the ride!
Sounds awesome, glad the video helped. Even though it was a pain to install I’m glad I did it. No more worrying if I’m going to run out when I’m on the trails. 🤘🏼🔥
I didn't cut the bushing pins. They are fine as is. I used a ratchet strap to pull the tank down into position. Also, just move the turn signal up one bolt hole using just one bolt to hold it to the bracket. You'll need a spacer on the bottom bolt as it will be too long now. I used a larger nut as a spacer at the bolt head. Or get a shorter bolt. Good Video!
I have the IMS tank on my 650l. It doesn’t have the same issues that you mentioned with the pegs rubbing, however I like how secure mounting this one is.
Thanks, you just showed me why not to buy this. For $336.00 it needs to be correct when it comes out of the box. I am not modifying my bike just to make this fit!!!!!!
Yeah it is kind of stupid that it won’t fit perfect. After the install I will say it is very nice not worrying if I run out of gas when I’m on a long trail especially if I’m exploring and don’t know how long it will take to get out of the trail.

How much range are you averaging out of that larger tank. I see conflicting numbers, but I guess that makes sense bec people ride wildly different.

Would you use any type of sealer on the peacock mount? That part seams a little wonky?
I honestly looked at it and considered putting something extra on them but I just ran them with what they came with and have zero leaks.
