Right on Dave, that thing is near invisible. Like you said with a debris shelter you have to sleep in the debris where with this you have a nice comfortable tent inside. I wouldn’t wander too far from it as I would probably never see it again haha. Great stuff man, thanks for sharing!
I know, it's like it just melts into the surroundings! To me the real beauty is how comfortable it is on the inside. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching
This shelter of yours, is out of sight! That tarp is the perfect size for this project. I would have loved to see the inside, after you installed the camo and leaves. Just have to remember exactly where you parked it if you should go off for a hike. . . Thank you Dave for your time, tips and tricks. Enjoy your weeks end!
👍👏👏. Looked like a rock in the woods to me !!! Excellent job there Dave !!! I had a brown 3 man dome tent and I used to stretch an old fishing net over the top and the sticks and leaves would really stay put on that net. What I liked about yours was if people were walking by at 35 to 40 ft. away… they’d just think it was an old rock …if they even looked that way. Very natural looking. See ya on the next one you wild and crazy Georgia Boy !! Jim
Thanks Jim and Im glad you liked it. I like the sound of your set up. I have an old net I might try and I have a 3D camo net I may try that could easily trap and hold onto leaves! Thanks for watching
Dave im 23 my mom just passed away four days ago im devastated these videos helping provide a distraction for me. Sepsis is a helluva thing god bless man. I know your mom just passed aswell and ill tell ya its a different kind of hurt.
Ah Ben I hate to hear that. Thats really bad with you being 23. I was 57 when my mom passed. Im glad the videos can lend a little distraction. Id just have to say remember her but try not to dwell on it too long or the depression will set in. Take care man.
Hey Dave. Always great to see your experiments. It looks like there are gaps in the pole sleeves. How about making a hoop that goes through the gaps and goes 3/4 of the way around the tent. Some more loops sewn into hold it parallel to the ground would help. That should ballon the sides out and give you more space. You could use that new type plastic tubing they use for household water pipes and heat it a little to hold its form. The door side I don't know what to do
Nice one Dave. Another success. Top tip: have a rubber sleeve to place your tent peg ends inside. It works for me. The rubber sleeve then fits inside the pocket for the tent pegs.
For the sides of your tent, rig up a button tie out on the 4 sides. Button tie out and guy lines to pull the sides out. It'll give you more room on the inside and may help to flatten the illusion of the hill. Also, find a 2 or 2.5 inch thick stick about 2 feet long and roll it into the bottom of the door area of the tarp to help tighten that area up... All in all, I think this was a success! Nice job!
Dave I have to say that you have done very well with this project. I can’t wait to see the improvements you make to it. Thank you for sharing this and we will see you in the next one.
Hi Dave! Another fun experiment. One thing that came to mind was the idea of obstructing the path toward the shelter on the three non-entry sides thus discouraging nosy rascals from getting too close.
Another success story by Dave. Your brother had a great idea and you pulled it off. I love watching you try new ideas. People wouldn't see it just walking thru the woods .Thank you and have a great weekend.
Well , Dave, looks like you've got another good idea there. After you found the big rock, couldve put it close to it to "hide " it a little more, but that's a different thought. High winds would be an issue, but you just have to go with what you've got and do the best you can, with your scenario . Great idea, great build on the tarp. Would that material lend itself to being cut with heat, like hot knife or soldering iron, so it would heat melt edges to keep from fraying ? Great idea again. God bless y'all, my friend, and stay safe.
Thanks Brian, Im glad you liked it. I didnt see that rock until after I set it up. If I had, I absolutely would have set up next to it! I bet a hot knife would be perfect for this material. I need to get one. Thanks for watching
It looks good, Dave....until the wind comes! Lol Just another thought: What if you add a fish net on top as well? It would act as a trap to keep the debris in place. You could also weave some sticks/branches in it. Also, what if you placed it in a spot that's very dense with trees/bushes? It'll act as a natural barrier to prevent someone from accidentally discovering it. You may need a zipper for the door so you don't remove all of the debris when climbing into it. Thanks for the Friday entertainment! :)
Good point and you gave me an idea! I like the fish net idea but I do have a die cut 3D leafy blind from Walmart. If I added that it would really tangle in and hold the leaves! This does need to be near trees but the tent itself needs 5x7 and the tarp needs even more space at 10x20. I'm glad you liked it and thanks for watching brother
Looks great Dave, I’m headed your way when they come looking for me! It was 87 here today, wonder how many hand warmers I would need to heat that shelter? 😂. Thanks for the video!
Cool idea. It would be interesting to see if someone like your brother or Nick could find you. Kind of like a grown up hide and go seek. Maybe give them the general area to narrow it down a bit. Thanks for the video.
Your best yet. Camo makers need to make a pattern and color that looks like the forest floor for different areas. Keep up the good work. Two thumbs up.
Great job the on camouflage. Perhaps sewing some clips on a basic camouflage tarp, that way you can clip on different camouflage net’s to the base tarp. The net’s having a shaggy leaf look, you can switch out depending on the season. ✌️🇺🇸 Have an awesome weekend.
That is a great idea and something I'm going to consider because I have so much different camo. And some 3D ghille type camo that would really hold onto the leaves I'd add. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching my friend!
This project showcases your best ideas on making a stealthy camp. The low, rounded profile of the tent plus the camo tarp plus the natural forest leaves and brush make the deal! Maybe there is a lower profile commercial tent you could purchase or (with your skills) you could custom make a tent and tarp. Of course, all you need is some hiker with a happy-go-lucky dog and the game is over!
Thanks James! I may try another set of poles. I also have another tent I might could cut up and resew and add poles. Everything is a ongoing project with me!
Sheet of mylar under that tarp and a camo net over the tarp to weave small branches and twigs and hold the leaves. Nice job on the camo. Utilize the stuff around you. The TCOP is a nice low tent with ventilation, bug control and when it's buttoned up, warmth. Thanks Dave.
Hey Dave-So much to agree with. Definitely rather be in a tent and in debris and making (or repurposing) gear is so much fun. The satisfaction when you put it to work is so much more. But you know that already because your are the King of that. Have fun in the wood, bud. Best!
Dave, there are time I wish I couldn't be seen in my own home! This was an interesting approach. Prehaps you could take up the slack in the material around the bottom of the tent to tighten it all the way around so that the shape is maintained through the support poles. Oh, BTW, how is your low back? I saw something in your gate that gave me an idea of what may be causing your problems.
@@Reallybigmonkey1 It kinda needs an explanation. The way you were walking indicates a pronation of your feet and compensatory postural problems being transmitted to your low back. This sets in motion a long-term degenerative process to the vertebrae and discs of the lumbosacral spine. Is there a way we can communicate privately? I'd like to describe it in more detail and possibly give you some advice. It's not ethical for me to do this on a public forum.
That did look pretty cool.. wouldn't condensation get trapped in there though? From breathing in and out. I've had some bad tents before and I'd wake up in a puddle of water some mornings. Thanks for the video brother
Thanks, Im glad you liked it. I slept in this in my backyard, no condensation. I guess with the mesh on top and the air between the tent side walls and the tarp it absorbed it. Thanks for watching Brother Mark
You have wisely avoided 99% of all visible straight lines which the human eye will pick up on quickly in nature scenes. The extra limbs and sticks, while adding a few straight lines, hold up to closer scrutiny as merely being sticks and limbs resulting in the "nothing to see here" conclusion. I have a 10' x 16' jungle-camo tarp and a low profile military-green backpackers tent. Previous to viewing this video just now, I had always used the tent as a tent on the ground and the tarp merely suspended over it for weather protection... but now... I'm headed to the woods to experiment with this idea. In some unforeseen future scenarios that setup could save your life. Well done!
Great idea, and it does look like that rock lol. If the tent was closer to that rock, it would look even more like it lol. Have you ever tried a hot knife for cutting fabric? They are sold on amazon, but they arent the cheapest, so im experimenting using a wood burner with the exacto blade attachment and it's working good so far. Cutting the fabric with that melts and seals the cut so it doesn't fray out like you said, so far it seems to be the superior way over cutting with scissors etc. Thanks for showing!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I've heard of those hot cutters but never tried one. I probably need to get one with the amount of sewing I do. Thanks for watching brother
@Reallybigmonkey1 just not having to worry about the fraying is really nice lol, although cutting it regularly might work better depending on the application. But overall it seems much better and faster too. 🤷
Another great video, Dave. That's a really bright green, but it's practically free so... You could add a little camouflage with some random earth tone paints. It might help hide it even more. It's like a hidden Taj Mahal in the woods. 😎. The irregular shape helps hide it.
Dave I think you did a great job with this. Even up close. Sure you could see that it was a tarp under the leaves and stuff but you couldn’t tell there was a tent underneath the tarp. Nowadays it’s common to find an old tarp left out in the woods. I wouldn’t change too much with this setup.
Hopefully you'll never have to use it but most folks would walk right by that. As a hunter we set up camo ground blinds and for turkeys thats all. Strangely for deer, they'll notice the roofline if it's square or domed. To combat that we brush em in with several branches sticking up all around above the roofline. I've walked right past em myself those random branches do a good job for sure. Great video!
Ive always wondered why the made camo deer blinds so tall. I'd love to find a cheap one and modify it. I'm glad you liked it and thanks for watching Randy
That looks great, Dave! Maybe if you had a small bush at the entrance, behind this setup, then, your entrance would be camouflaged, and not so worrisome. It could also serve as a small cache to store stuff you don't want to carry around with you as you go back and forth, say, to a secret fishing spot, or something like that.
Hey dave, happy new year, hope you had a good one... see if the outter sheet was netting or like a stocking nylon material, it could be stuffed with leaves so its more invisible maybe? Held up with sticks at different heights. Just a lightweight blurred insulation less to carry invisible idea stealth???
Hello Chrisi and a happy new year to you! Ours has been good so far. I do have a 3D leafy camo thatll really hold leaves well. I may just try it. Thanks for watching
G'day mate.! What a great idea. I'm sure the military is watching & learning from your vids. We are sure that Steve Wallis aka King of Stealth is proud of you for thinking outside the box. We are sharing your vid with a few outdoors people. You may get some weird comments but rather positive inputs. Hopefully next outdoors vid you will have your brother with you to experience the result with his idea. Invisibility is the intention in the military, and you actually come close to it. Stay safe matey. Looking forward to the next episode. Cheers from Christmas Island & Australia.
Hi Dave as far as putting in a zipper into that tarp i would not . but instead put a small stake in the front end to crawl in and out with . even though that tent is lime green i dont think you would really see it in the shadow of the tarp . and with that stake in the front end you can leave it up to crawl in and out. Or take that stake out after you crawl in to drop the tarp to ground . and that way you know exactly how much room to leave to egress on it , and would limit the amount that the tarp will move dropping the natural cover you placed on it .
Dave, that is terrific. I'd never see ya, and I'd have to get my hound dog out to find ya, lol. Great design for rough weather, too. Why don't you design and sew one up? I like the small tent with the huge fly idea. Have you ever tried a stealth car camp idea? I have., and thought I could get that camo netting at a military surplus store to throw over the Outback.
Thanks and I'm glad you liked it! As far as sewing one up, I think it's best to just cover a tent or shelter with a camo tarp so you can vary the camo pattern to match the environment rather than be stuff with whatever it's made of. I've never thought about car camping camo. That would be pretty hard to do with a cars size. Thanks for watching my friend
When you First Showed from a distance After It Was All Done it Was Not Truly Easy To See . It Was Covered Well ! We have to remember that People are Out Doing their thing and they have their attention Some where else. A person Looking for Another Person is a bit different they look for Disturbed Grass Leaves and broken Twigs on plants. They are looking for straight lines that are Not found in mother nature. Hey 👋 Dave you Need a few changes to your example But You Get the gist of it right It Works for it's intended purpose And gos to show When you Let your imagination Free it will Come With an Interesting idea 💡 Thanks Professor Dave for Another Great Video!
That ought to work pretty fine. If you were really trying to hide, you could pile up more leaves and limbs and such, making it invisible. I am glad you mentioned your name. I would have felt awkward calling you Really Bid or Mr. Monkey. By the way, I often go by Uncle Ken, so there.
Very fun video Again!! Wanted to ask if you ever tried putting camp dry/scotchgard on the camo bed sheet ? If the time allows for you and Nick to do another Stealth Camp challenge again. Thanks for taking us along.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’ve considered the scotchguard, but that sheet usually was on top of something already waterproof. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching Josh
That blends pretty good. a little sewing on the tent and it will be pretty good. gettin in it thought, LOL interesting lone rock , I always wonder how rocks get where they're at.
I watch a hardball gamer called kickingmustang ,he made a ghillie suit where you can buy extra things for different times of the year and a lot of soldiers are buying hes gear since its some of the best
yep strechin for Gretchen 😂...pretty cool set up Dave ..p.s you got to have some sort of visibility from the inside ... i mean you dont want to crawl in and out everytime you need to see whats going on out there .. if there is a bear or any other predator nearby
No one does it better. You're the best at making us want to go sleep under dead leaves instead of a warm bed! 👍🏼

Very enjoyable as always from your friends across the pond 🇬🇧
Thank you Michael and I'm glad you liked it!
Nice job. Out here in the Pacific N.W., I'd probably use a tarp with a lot for greens and throw moss and ferns on top.

Thanks for the video Dave. I don't reckon anyone would notice that shelter if they didn't know it was there. 👍
Looking great
Thanks Francis!
Another great video, That would be so much fun . Thanks Dave
Beautiful work Dave! You leave open the entrance part of the tarp for ventilation?
Thanks, Im glad you liked it. I just let that tarp hang down over the fly net part and it did breath enough like that
I hate when I get my pouch poked! 😮
Another great idea and demonstration. 👏
Thanks Dave.
Lol! I'm glad you liked it Steve
Great video David thank you for your time and effort 👍
Hey dave, happy new year, hope you had a good one... see if the outter sheet was netting or like a stocking nylon material, it could be stuffed with leaves so its more invisible maybe? Held up with sticks at different heights. Just a lightweight blurred insulation less to carry invisible idea stealth???
Hello Chrisi and a happy new year to you! Ours has been good so far. I do have a 3D leafy camo thatll really hold leaves well. I may just try it. Thanks for watching
I always just love your videos I learned a lot I like the way you use stuff you have on hand.
I’m glad you’re enjoying them Randy!
Excellent 🎉
Thank you Caleb!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it and I’ll keep an eye out for any military observers! Lol. Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you liked it my friend!
Good video Dave , i think it blended in quite well , thanks for sharing, YAH bless brother !
Great video, thank you brother.
Thanks, Im glad you liked it.
Great job Dave.
Oh man I haven't watched one of your videos since probably before covid. Nice to see you again 🙂
Good ideas Paul!
love it David. that should be toasty with the 2 layers.
Great vid 👍 great information 👍👍👍👍thank you for your knowledge 👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
Outstanding video… like always
Hey 👋 Dave you Need a few changes to your example But You Get the gist of it right It Works for it's intended purpose And gos to show When you Let your imagination Free it will Come With an Interesting idea 💡
Thanks Professor Dave for Another Great Video!
Another top video Dave
Thank you Deano!
What Chris Gramm wrote. Another great video to give a guy ideas.
Thank you George!
Dave is definitely cool Video gives a person many ideas 💡 of stelth camping low profile 😊
Nice, brother. Nice.
Thank you Brother Jim!
That blends pretty good. a little sewing on the tent and it will be pretty good.
gettin in it thought, LOL
interesting lone rock , I always wonder how rocks get where they're at.
It being a 4 dollar tent I up for sewing or even cutting if I have to. I have no idea on rocks like that either. Thanks for watching
Look up Erratics. Rocks carried by glacial activity many moons ago.
I watch a hardball gamer called kickingmustang ,he made a ghillie suit where you can buy extra things for different times of the year and a lot of soldiers are buying hes gear since its some of the best
Very interesting! Ill have to check it out.
Couldn’t see it thing on the best side Dave, also wouldn’t have seen it at all unless I was actively looking, all the best from wintry England ❤
Fantastic to hear that Peter! Greetings from a mild Georgia and thanks for watching
Looks good. I would make the entrance on the side with less sun. Not sure what you would do.
Good thinking but if there's a trail I'll always face the entrance away from it. Thanks for watching
Thank you Dave!
Nice job R&D is fun I think you got it like you said a little tweaking and it will be invisible
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I definitely think this is the one that'll be invisible!
Amazing little set up. How well do you like those gloves? Great to see ya sir. Have a good one and stay safe.
Thanks Matt and I'm glad you liked it. To be such cheap gloves they are very nice! I found them.on Amazon under "knuckle gloves"
yep strechin for Gretchen 😂...pretty cool set up Dave ..p.s you got to have some sort of visibility from the inside ... i mean you dont want to crawl in and out everytime you need to see whats going on out there .. if there is a bear or any other predator nearby
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it and I agree. I'd love a way to see out but I have no idea how to go about it
so cool bigmonkey peace and love from 1 leg uk England
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it
Definite success!
