- Today we fix the worst part about my 2024 Harley Davidson Road Glide...
The stock tail lights.
These Custom Dynamics tail lights are a HUGE upgrade visually and offer a much brighter presence from the rear on the road adding to safety and a stand out style!

Said this before, stock looks so much better, Custom Dynamics need to go back to the drawing board, smoke lens looks great before startup, but those lights leave way to much damage behind!
I totally get where you’re coming from and agree, if you have no intentions of changing the fender or doing some paint match stuff where you can just have the fender resprayed, I don’t recommend this route unless you’re okay with rough around the edges

I mean they look good I just don't like how recessed they are IMO but great video none the less.
I get it, I think for me I truly wanted them because I like how the black runs all the way down through the bags, it really pops on a white bike..
I like the look, but i also like having the orange color for a blinker. Maybe they can make a version of these that has oranfe lights for blinkers in between the space of the red lights.
I think the stock looks good . The aftermarket ones do look awesome. Just seems like something is missing now .
It took a few minutes for me to get used to it, I’d never go back now though..
waiting on a company to make clear lens for the stock setup because those exposed holes in the fender are a no go
I get it, unless you get the holes filled or a carbon rear fender this wouldn’t be for everyone!
my identical bike will be saying stock, these lights didn't do nothing for me. but I do appreciate all your videos. you can tell you're a engineer.keep it up

The stocks look great. If you don’t like them there are plenty 22’s and 23’s with low mileage for sale. Enough with the Autozone looking aftermarket electronics. Most of us buy a 2024 to look like a 2024. Most of the ones hating just can’t afford a new bike..
You understand the entire look of the bike changed. It wasn't just the taillights that made the 24 different.

No side visibility with those lights. Way to recessed for safety reasons. If they were closer to the edge of bags they would be alot nicer. JMO. Nice job though
Thank you for the support you guys! And I agree the side angle visibility is diminished which was a bit of a concern of mine, fortunately they’re so bright they reflect off the entire bag even in bright lighting!
I think with a set of saddlebag lights these are a great option!

Bawawawawa I put those on mine also . I love em . I don’t like the stock ones . I replaced them on my CVO . so much cleaner . I do want the thin line ones for the back of the bags but haven’t seen them yet . Rock on man !!!!
I do believe I saw they were released, then they cancelled the release because they were not happy with some part about it, I could be mistaken though, they may be available by now!
Great to see the options on the 2024 rear, not sure which direction I'm going yet. I will say I had Custom Dynamics LEDs all over my previous SG, loved the plug-n-play and brightness. I even emailed them to try get some sportbike LEDs built (RC-51) and the customer service/tech support was on point. First brand I looked at after getting my 24 home.
Nah I’d keep stock i actually like how stock looks over those. And I would go nuts knowing that those holes are visible lol. Either way though you got a badass bike man!
That turned out to be a nice clean install. I appreciate you running the wire under the seat, no need for extra connection be exposed to the elements.

I have the same bike. I also did the Custom Dynamic Taillights. I did a very simple DYI for the holes on the fender. I Got some gorilla duck tape and covered the holes inside the fender. Then I got some white paint on the duck-taped holes looks great. Not even the same color white but because of the angle when looking at it and the small holes, you can't even tell.
Not a bad idea for a temporary or cheap and easy fix, this may definitely help someone out, thank you for sharing🙌

Guess Taste is subjective.. I also don't mind the Stocks... I would like to Smoke them out.. And i thought they were LEDs already so not sure why the need for the resistors. I was under impression that it was needed when going from the older Incandescent lights.. I guess there is a different "power Pull" on the CD lights. Good vid as always !!
Yeah I was surprised to see a resistor was required as well for the exact reason you layed out. My only uneducated guess would be that the new stock Hd led tail lights have a resistor built in and by removing the stock tail lights the resistor needs to be replaced with this? Not sure though.. thank you for watching!!🙌

Never loved the stock tail light setup. Custom dynamics ftw. You may be able to find white silicone plugs for the holes. Check out their saddlebag latch lights and fork reflector lights, they're awesome and drastically up the side visibility!!
The stock lights look great to me. Definitely an upgrade from the past years finally. Those do sit to far in between the bags and fender too.

They look great and love the wiring ideas. You’re right on. Custom Dynamics does make a black piece that goes around them. That will hide the bolts as an FYI. Love what you’re doing with the channel man

With the deep set of the lights how visible are the brakes and blinkers to others not directly behind you? There is a video idea!! thinking highway. They do look good.
Ciro 3D lights cover the ugly bolts at the bottom. I would have left the stock lights on before Custom Dynamics. R&D

we’re all different and we all like different things, I personally think those CD lights look like an afterthought compared to the stock lights, not to mention it looks unfinished now
I agree, in its current form it definitely leaves some finishing touches required..
I don’t hate the stock ones but the upgrades do look nice!

I agree with what you said in the beginning… They look like bug eyes… I said the same thing as soon as I saw the 2024’s came out… I originally said they looked like the eyes of a Looney Tunes cartoon character😂
They aren’t the worst thing I’ve seen but they left something to be desired for sure!!
Knowing you, you’re going to fabricate a piece of metal with welded studs that go through the holes… You do nice work… Could you fabricate that piece of metal and have it come down to cover the bolts And the bracket and have it powder coated black?
You will just have to stick around to find out, I have been known to do some welding and shaving on a few vehicles!😜

Just finished my 500 miles
The biggest problem with those is getting an inspection sticker in many states. The lights can't be recessed in that far.

Not to go off subject here but you hooked a headset up for ur Apple CarPlay to work in an earlier video. Do you have to carry that headset with you when you ride?
Yes to use Apple CarPlay either the headset or a plug in solution to fool the bike into thinking there is a headset. I have “Tim’s Stereo Systems” fooler that plugs in under the seat so I don’t need the headset. You can find him on Facebook with that name and dm him for information and to order!
@@OffWeekGarage thx man. But imo Harley needs to fix it. A lot of states helmets aren’t mandatory. 🤷🏻♂️
Stoopid ya carry that headset w/the speakers and mic plugged into it so the radio recognizes it or it won’t work!
I’m on the waiting list at Tim’s so 👎 with the 500 headset from packtalk that came with my bike🙄

Hey, it looks great! I did the same thing to my ’24 RG in Blue Burst a few weeks back. Just got back from a week-long trip to Panama City, FL, and didn’t have any problems with other drivers seeing me.
I really wish Custom Dynamics would make a new taillight that fits in the stock location. I’m not a fan of deleting the factory taillights.

I think they’re a good upgrade. I follow a shop on facebook that recessed the stock taillights and made them more flush. Thought it looked a lot better than stock
The main reason i wanted a Special and not a standard 2022, was because of the stretched bags.
Now you have a bigger engine, newer bike, with standard looking bags.
This thing still looks like an Indian no matter what you do to it
I run custom dynamics on my current bike and love them but on the 24s I would stay with the stock ones and saddlebag lights.
I'd like to see an option where you can keep the stock look, but with smoked lenses.

What size heat shrink tube did you use I’m getting these lights for my 2024 RG and want to make sure I get the right size!
I think by recessing the lights like that you limited your visibility from the sides. but you did a great job installing them running the wires.

Man idk. I get the brightness aspect but I’m iffy on the looks. I like that the turn signals are orange instead of red honestly.
Also get the magic strobe from custom dynamics it wakes people up who are behind you
You need to adjust your right shock as per the instructions in owners manual.

Didn’t the stock sticker out so you could see them indicating from the side, any liability of them being recessed and not viewable from side traffic? Enjoyed the video regardless.
I think the stock lights look better. You also cannot see the aftermarket lights from the side? Does that past inspection?

I dunno. Those aftermarkets look like some Temu or Wish lights. Nobody is doing individual LEDs anymore, they're more tube and clean ... oh, much like the stock lights.

The D.O.T. requires that the tail lights are flush or past the saddlebags. I kinda like them so I'm leaving mine on. Like your channel so I officially SUBSCRIBED.

I rode it home in the rain the day I bought it and have ridden in a TON of rain days since, I live in Washington State, like I have a choice.😂 I have waterproof quilted lined pants and waterproof boots that keep me dry and happy!!

Personally i think you starting to make some bad decisions, just to make content. How do you sleep at night, knowing those holes are there in the fender.
Looks horrible. The lights sit so far back a car driver can only see you if they are directly behind you. Are you new to baggers? The rule of thumb is more lighting so idiots in cars can see you. You just made your bike invisible from any angle. Return them. Stock looked better and is safer. Shame on CD for even making such crap. Somebody will get hurt and they will sue them and most likely win. Plus look at the damage it leaves after install. Horrible product.
