Bro I am a syrian from Damascus and let me tell you this Tahrir al sham is not from alqaida from a long time and the people love them and they are a part from the rebels not only that al jolani don't want to be president and the rebels are the people of syria and the country now going to be united soon
Returning of refugees is important for both EU and Türkiye. And all rebels also want that. These rebels are now big groups, not dozens of fractions fighting here and there. I hope they remain calm and united. They should not engage in war within themselves or their neighbors. What I worry about is fraction happening again in HTS as many will be unsatisfied with Jolani if he doesn't force hardline rules like Taliban.
well the groups did mostly come together to form an interim government, how effective it will be is anyone’s guess, hoping for a federalized syrian republic
I think the most likely route here is a form of strong presidential democracy. Not necessarily a form or dictatorship but something akin to Rwanda after the genocide under President Kagame. The leader of HTS has claimed to moderate his views over the past decade and that seems to be somewhat truthful. The Christian population of Idlib actually supported his rule while he was there and there’s been no mass oppression of Christian’s in Aleppo, Hama, or Homs. In his speech in the Umayyad mosque he even said that he wanted a Syria free from sectarian violence and his goal was to stabilize Syria. HTS is still clearly a conservative Islamic organization though, so in any peace process they’d likely form the bulwark of a conservative faction. However, they aren’t at all dominant and you can certainly expect the Kurds and southern rebel groups to oppose them becoming a one party state. The leader of HTS seems to recognize this so it’s my guess that they’re likely going to aim for a form of strong presidential democracy. They know they can’t single-handedly strongman the other groups so they need to compromise to some level. That means giving out minority rights, creating a (mostly) freely elected parliament, and a strong executive to balance it. The HTS leader would likely win an executive election with recent events making them seem like the hero’s of Syria. They’d likely establish a strong executive similar to kagame in Rwanda. Expect no term limits and a some violations of human rights but nothing near the level of the Taliban or Saudi Arabia. I think this is the most realistic scenario purely because HTS seems fairly competent at governing from their time in Idlib. The only way this could go awry is if the Turks throw a wrench into the plans by trying to attack the Kurds and by playing HTS and the southern rebels off of one another. The only reason I think this is less likely (not necessarily unlikely) is because Syria is currently in a rally around the flag state where patriotism is overpowering the feeling of faction between many Syrians. If Turkey is acting in a blatantly imperialist manner than HTS and the southern rebels could easily unite against Turkey and their Syrian allies. They’d essentially be poking the bear at the worst possible time and could unite Syria against them. It’s still possible that the groups turn against one another but there’s a decent chance that Turkey messes up and causes their problem to get a lot worse.
I think the most important thing is that HTS and SDF come to an agreement. If that happens, and the vast majority of the Syrian people support it, I doubt the Turkish proxies can afford to continue attacking the Kurds. Also, since Assad's prime minister is still there and willing to cooperate, I suppose he could declare new democratic elections, and put it in the hands of the Syrian people. That would be a bit of a coup against HTS, though, and would force them to immediately make their intentions clear: do they accept the new elections or oppose them?
Great video, but one minor thing I was under the impression that the Syrian Commando Army was closer to an American proxy, being trained and supported by about 1000 U.S troops as well as being based out of a Joint base with America.
@@rewriting-history Yes, they are aligned, and I do get you are trying to keep things simple, but the goals of the Turkey and the SNA and The Syrian Commando army are different and that alliance could very easily break.

However I do believe they might have a strong armed democracy where it is a democracy but where it will be more authoritarian but still a democracy similar to the Republic of China before Kai Shek turned it into a military dictatorship.
I was surprised on how Syria fully collapsed into a mess since its civil war has been on going for a long time but hopefully things go great for Syria and lead to a better Syrian state
I wanted to do a better alternative than the media which ignores any future developments like the EU deportation of Arabs or Hezbollah falling. I watch so much news and I never heard anyone mention this, yet I think all are possible
Theres now a 4th player Isreal had moved beyond the Golan heights and captured to towns of Quneitra and Al-Baath and are moving in on Khan Arnabah 3km from the border of the Golan heights
Syria has one advantage over Libya. In that Libya happened first, so Syria can avoid the example of Libya and try to do opposite of what was done there which will result in a different outcome hopefully a better one
I'll just inform you that your prediction was partially right at 8:45 "United Syria". Since as of now the Syrian Transitional Government is formed between HTS, RCA and Southern Operations Room (except for SNA (Syrian Turkmen-led) and SDF (Syrian Kurdish-led) as of now, they don't care about Syria but just want to fight each other...) So peace in Syria is partially reached. And all those who right now still invoke that Syria is still gonna be in some kind of "endless conflict" like in Libya or Iraq, are delusional and live out from reality.
Just thinking about the worst case scenario is bone chilling, not only is civil war restarted, but we will have more instability in neigbouring countries, new opportunity for terrorist groups to emerge and a new migrant crisis(in the time when eurpe and us is already hurt by the last one)

I want to hope for a better future for syria, but i have lost hope at this point. Turkish position against Kurds will be the catalyst for a new conflict most probably

However I do believe they might have a strong armed democracy where it is a democracy but where it will be more authoritarian but still a democracy similar to the Republic of China before Kai Shek turned it into a military dictatorship.
@@kevramsey4733 I hope US stops funding SDF and lets the people of the country decide what they want
@ True, Turkey and Israel need to leave to.
I was surprised on how Syria fully collapsed into a mess since its civil war has been on going for a long time but hopefully things go great for Syria and lead to a better Syrian state
Buen video👻
We got rewriting history discussing modern day politics before gta6
I wanted to do a better alternative than the media which ignores any future developments like the EU deportation of Arabs or Hezbollah falling. I watch so much news and I never heard anyone mention this, yet I think all are possible
Pray for the third option
Same!
Theres now a 4th player Isreal had moved beyond the Golan heights and captured to towns of Quneitra and Al-Baath and are moving in on Khan Arnabah 3km from the border of the Golan heights
I did say that near the end of the video. We will see how this will play out in the future
Syria has one advantage over Libya. In that Libya happened first, so Syria can avoid the example of Libya and try to do opposite of what was done there which will result in a different outcome hopefully a better one
You must remember that Libya got violent overthrew Gaddafi went into a quit period then got violent again. I would just watch the nation to see.
Ive just noticed that the lake in western turkey looks like a tear. Turkey is crying.
Can you do more videos about the 21st century?
And great video!
can you do a new alternate series like what if ww2 was won by axis
I wish them peace and democracy!
I'll just inform you that your prediction was partially right at 8:45 "United Syria".
Since as of now the Syrian Transitional Government is formed between HTS, RCA and Southern Operations Room
(except for SNA (Syrian Turkmen-led) and SDF (Syrian Kurdish-led) as of now, they don't care about Syria but just want to fight each other...)
So peace in Syria is partially reached.
And all those who right now still invoke that Syria is still gonna be in some kind of "endless conflict" like in Libya or Iraq, are delusional and live out from reality.
Also we can expect new Syrian construction for 6 months and elections for 18 months.
Thank you for the "hearth" @Rewriting History 🙏🙏
Just thinking about the worst case scenario is bone chilling, not only is civil war restarted, but we will have more instability in neigbouring countries, new opportunity for terrorist groups to emerge and a new migrant crisis(in the time when eurpe and us is already hurt by the last one)
Nice video, but what if the Austrian painter became successful and never go down the path in real life? In short, if he became a successful artist, would there be no World War II?
I already have a similar script ready, so expect to see it this month
hopefully syria stabilises after that dicator's rule
Hoping for the same, but historically this didn't work out great for Libya
Most likely, it won't. The likely option is that a worse Islamist group will take over.
I love Syrians and kurds from australia
Hope syria finds peace
Bro a local meme page from my city posted that people are celebrating the fall of the Assad regime. The guy even said that his comment sections should not become a political battlefield. Here are some comments:
"Have a good flight back"
"Will they all go home then?"
"Everyone back to their homeland, it's nice"
"Then they can all finally go back because there is no more war"
"So und dann jetzt Abmarsch!" = "okay, now leave"
Brooooo
At least this one person commented "It's their right to celebrate, why can't some people just be happy for them"
0:30 very based
10$ this aged terribly not saying it’s unreasonable but Syria is not known for its reasonable level headed leaders
New year New Syria
Alternatively, France could just take Syria back like old days lol. All jokes aside You are a great person to donate all of the money you make from the red cross to the war -torn country.
سوريا حرة 💚💚✨✨
It was about time!
Syria is as chaotic as china after the fall of the qing dynasty
That takeover is officially the weirdest event of this year.
Well the first scenario won't happen as hts and southern operation room have formed a transitional govt.
Do a Alt history video about the Great Syrian Revolt or if Syria never unified with Egypt
12:24 I just realized the U.S. Flag he used has 51 Stars
The region you said nobody knows who controls it (Hasakah Province) is currently controlled by the SDF.
But would be syria still same as before or not? And did they changed the flag?
Yes they changed their flag, we cant ever know how they will actually look like
🇭🇷❤🇸🇾 i love syria as croat
What happened to those Russian ports in Syria did Russia withdraw?
Honestly, i dont think anything good will happen for Syria in near time. I think there would be the same as Libya after Gaddafi. At first its euphoria, but after it ends your hopes are crashing into harsh reality. With Assad Syria was stable, but not really good for life. Without Assad... We will see.
I love it when history happens in real life. Luckly I'm so far away it was no immidiate effect on me.
@flokedoke533 History has been happening but what this will lead to we will see.
@kevramsey4733 We can only hope for a better future.
I hope syria achieves pe
eace so that people there can finally stop suffering
We all hope for the same!
I want to hope for a better future for syria, but i have lost hope at this point. Turkish position against Kurds will be the catalyst for a new conflict most probably
9:57 map of Libya has incorrect southern border, some desert was given to Chad after ww2
As an Arab i am happy that Syrian people got hid of that dictator
@@Reclere It took forever and what I think is weird is that he was the weakest one that fell if you compare him to the rest.
@kevramsey4733 yeah my syrian friends told me that they were able to get rid of him because of his incompetence the popularity of democracy and most importantly the arab spring
@ Hopefully it will be an actual democracy without the interference of the East or West. That is the only way they truly become one. I do think Turkey will get very involved with them. Also Israel needs to leave Syria in the South but I doubt that with Netanyahu.
@@kevramsey4733 i hope the same but maybe they could give turkey some rights
Where exactly did you get this information, i am Syrian, though i dont exactly know everything you have said. And that *kind* irritates me.
I hope syria will get rid of war
Why does the sdf include hatay in their flag?
Used to be Syrian, they may still claim it
@@rewriting-historyYes, even the Assad regime showed it as their own land in their maps. idk about the Syrian National Army though, they have close ties to Turkey so they might not claim it
Rooting for Kurdistan!!!
