Thank you Donna. This was great for not only new quilters but for handicapped people, too. I had a heart attack followed by seizures. Well, physically I’m just great, but the seizures left me with a few deficits getting my brain from words to doing the task. I’ve been a quilter for years but have lost the ability to do difficult quilts. This is so helpful Tom me. I appreciate you.
Very helpful. Must admit that I downloaded your free pattern and got lost in the jargon. Since I didn't want to make a mistake, I didn't do anything. I am a visual learner and reading directions, I overthink and start questioning myself. Thanks for this video of encouragement. I bought some fabric, but bought 1.25 yds as a little safety measure. Now to get started.
What an excellent idea for this quilt video - building on the basics! I loved how you went from showing how to make one block and then to use the steps in that block in the next pattern and also learn how to do another block. I could see this being a 6-8 week class in a local community's choice of learning different crafts. Now Donna, all you need to do is create a book that includes these very patterns; and yes, I'd name it, "Building on the Basics" or something with that theme. After sewing each quilt top, the sewist would be telling herself, "If I could make this quilt, I'll bet I could make the next one in the series." Oh yes, I could easily see a mother using a book like this in teaching her daughter or son how to make a quilt top. And with all the homeschooling going on these days, this would be such an enjoyable class that both the teacher and student would look forward to each day.
Donna, this was wonderful! I have your books & many of your kits...but have only been brave enough to “cut into” one of them! This is incredibly helpful as I have wished there was an actual tutorial on the most simple quilts for us beginners. I truly appreciate the choice of subjects, the tutorial method, & the way you taught us to build on what we know. Thank you so very much!
I appreciate you taking the time to explain the pattern and process. I purchased one of your pattern books. I hope you do more informative videos like this. And suggest which pattern book for beginners to start with. ❤️ 🪡 Edit: grammar

Hi Janice, My daughter can free motion quilt like crazy! I, on the other hand, never seem to get the hang of it, so I spend my time doing what I like, piecing, and send the quilts out to a longarm quilter. However, there are many videos about free motion quilting and I'm fairly certain that putting my critical voices in time out, that with time I could learn. Thanks for watching! Donna

Polly my favourite block is the nine patch. A simple first block. Deep breath and enjoy!
No problem piecing the patchwork its the quilting that I find daunting. Do people just send it out to a longarmer?

Best video.
Glad you enjoyed! Donna
Hi, what if your main fabric is very light.
I cannot complete my purchase for the set of books on your site, I’m trying to pay by PayPal and it wants to send me back to your site but I’m not getting through unless I have to wait
You have to set up a password protective account on the Fabric Cafe site first to use PayPal so it know where to apply the funds.
Three yard quilt top not a 3 yard quilt because the 3 yards does not include the backing .
Are your fabrics designed by you?

That first big strip....did you say 10 and a half inch wide? How do you get 4 srips from one yard of fabric?
