      Personally I think it should sound like the old MeridenTriumph parallel twins, I think the Harley sound is a bit overdone nowadays. I know the offset crankpins are better for balance, but really I think they are after the offbeat V-twin sound. The snarl of a 360° crank engine is just as good, in my opinion anyway. The Harley sound has been done to death if you ask me.

      TheMissendenFlyer hey TMF. Looking forward to your review. About time they invited you to these exotic launches. I had a quick sit on one of these at the Calgary bike show. This would be top of my list to try in UK. The Scramblers looked nice too.

    I actually found the riding position of the Thruxton absolutely spot on, but the seat was a plank, a real buttock slicing cut the blood from your legs torture implement, worse than my KTM 990 Superduke and that's like saying I prefer gravel to Napalm for face cream. However I do like this new speed twin. Its no surprise, Triumph are smashing the classic bike sector right now, all these excellent bikes that seem to be loved all over the world, and for good reason.

    I love this bike but a proper review would have also mentioned the squealing front brakes when coming to a stop (which Triumph has been trying to fix for at least two years), soft suspension (replace the rear shocks with Ohlins and use heavier fork oil), water getting inside the instruments, moisture inside the headlight, and the rear turn signals that are easily damaged getting on and off the bike (replace them with LED buttons mounted on the shocks). Still a great bike (along with the T100 and T120 Bonnevilles). If this is going to be your forever bike, tweak the front brakes, rear shocks, front fork oil, turn signals and weatherproof the headlight and instrument housings, and you will be set.

  • @hollowaysteve
    @hollowaysteve 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks good. It’s what I’ve wanted from them since the advent of the Thruxton. However, I’d happily lose all the electronics for a decent set of shocks. Rider aids, for me are a pointless exercise and something else to go wrong that we really don’t need on a bike like this.

    crazy question ... but how does it compare in comfort and everyday riding to something like a speed or street triple. I know aaple and oranges. But im very torn - having loved my '20 ST3, but needing something a tad more plush and with more umph, but still comfy and naked

    So when comparing a T120 vs Speed Twin, the Speed Twin is lighter, has cast aluminium wheels, which means quicker steering and tubeless tyres, which means easier road-side tyre puncture repair, etc and has different engine tune.
    I do love the super classic look of the T120 but the above makes it a really hard choice!

    Another great review, it's a nicely proportioned bike which really looks the part. The red tank lifts the bike, far nicer than ho-hum black or grey.
    You can only wonder how good the R will be as that's surely next.
    Great price for an appealing machine, only to be rivalled by a 1200 Speed Triple? C'mon Triumph!

    I'm in the market to buy, just asking if you where to buy with your money would you go for the speed twin or RnineT ? I'm split !!

    • @Dennell_Mount_and_Blade
      @Dennell_Mount_and_Blade 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should have a test ride with both. Most say that the thruxton r (which is not 100% like the twin but still the closest) is a better ride, but I've also read that RnineT riders don't complain about it. Speed Twin is probably a better buy, RnineT is more comparible with the thruxton r, which I would personally prefer as well, but that would depend on the test drives. At the end of the day it's up to you, -obviously- (edit) in my opinion RnineT (white stock with cafe fairing) looks better than the Speed (stock) win, but it's more comparible to the thruxton r. I think the Speed Twin sounds like a real winner.

    • @Dennell_Mount_and_Blade
      @Dennell_Mount_and_Blade 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @will M Yeah of course it's subjective but the Speed Twin (stock) is not a very flashy bike and that's ok. Although with modifications it can become something very nice, maybe better looking then the RnineT (with the cafe racer fairing as well), but that's subjective indeed. I would prefer the thruxton r (with cafe racer fairing).Although not the most beautiful, bmw has a hit now and then. RnineT is a good looking bike, most would agree, but yeah each to their own.

    Triumph have only one model left to make using the Bonneville 1200 motor I reckon! What about an old school tourer (with only basic gismo's) with a shaft drive set-up similar to the Yamaha super tenere 1200 and a big touring fairing, big 25 litre old style fuel tank (easily removed for servicing) and big panniers!
