    I've been using the 81 extensively and it is not only a good field knife, it is a perfect urban survival tool. Able to easily hack into cars, open doors, cabinets, food cans cut and strip any kind of materials, all the jobs that are not really for a knife but... For a Feldmesser.

    Buddy, if you’re right handed, it’s real easy to deploy the knife; Just push the Tab out with your thumb while you pull up on the flat part of the handle guard with your pointer finger. Almost as if your snapping your fingers. ✊🏻Works every time dude

    Glock has gone down hill. They started with crappy plastic sights and now the glock 81 doesn't even have them.

    I bought one of these on impulse figuring it would have to really suck for me to lament $35. I have almost never obtained so much knife for so little money. It's not the best out there, but it's worth its price and then some. Nice review, and thanks for the info on the integration with the AUG.

    Never use CLP on a knife you use in the field, at some point, you’re going to need to use that knife for food preparation or processing an animal. Use olive oil, works very well at preventing rust and you won’t contaminate your food.

    For one hand unsheathing, place index finger under the guard, like it's a trigger... place thumb on top of sheath retention clip... pull the "trigger" and press thumb down on clip in one motion... and the blade pops free without issue. It's very easy and the only way to do it. Sheath system is excellent. One of the reasons I love the total Glock knife package. Easy to carry and easy to deploy while being super secure in sheath.

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @tokr72
      @tokr72 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad I could help. Bet it's Like a whole new knife now. Glock should include an explanation in their packaging. Lot of people get turned off to the knife because the sheath trick is kind of a secret. So they end up thinking the sheath system sucks.

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glock actually started off making knives. They are good and that's why the Austrian military awarded them with the pistol contract. My friend and mentor just gave me a 81 and I like it. Not the most elaborate blade I've ever owned but I'll be dandy if I get caught in a knife fight with it. More so than many other very expensive blades.

    You can easily withdraw the knife from the sheath one-handed. Grasp the handle, take the index finger and slip your fingernail under the lock and push lifting the lock while pulling on the knife. Very fast to learn and can be very quick with a little practice. Much easier and faster than twisting the lock. Hope this helps someone. I carried a Glock 78 while in Somalia with the Marines. I was USAF.

      Sometimes when supply runs low, people step up and mark up prices. I see this alot with electronics that have been discontinued like laptops and game systems. Some people have no idea what their item is worth but they list it at whatever price they want to.
