Mr. Jezierski has such a beautiful sound. His playing is just so clear and clean. Not to mention I think he is an amazing teacher! Definitely my favorite horn player of the Berlin Philharmonic.
Excellent Mr. Jezierski and congratulations Mr. Wilder. We watched this video in silence and awe, although we are not horn players. This is a wonderful way to gain respect and valuation for the technical expertise that goes into perfecting the performance.
I played horn from 2002-2011. I wish I could remember the names of the solos I played for Indiana Solo and Ensemble in highschool but I don't. I'd like to look them up on youtube now to see how they should have been played lol I could still hum them but it's not like I can just record some quick audio and post it here for people to tell me the title of the song I'm humming.
According to notation, the first two times the d# is long and the e short, while the third time they are equally long. If you make the e too short in the first instances the listener will not understand that he hears three times the same motiv. The rhythmical differences are just nuances. The third e should not be too short either. The eights are relatively unimportant and should be played poco leggiero. That is the way I perceive this.
Since this is European players I suspect he is playing the entire thing except the last two, or maybe three, deep notes on the B-flat horn. Most horn players in Europe have their horns set to B-flat as standard, and push down the thumb-valve to get F-horn, not the other way around.
I’m not even a Horn player I play trumpet but I still like hearing the musical ideas he has to offer
It's amazing how freely Jezierski plays, he just puts the horn up to his face and blows air into it.
When this guy talks it sounds like he has a hundred memories right behind his eyeballs that he's deciding not to tell.

Look up state horn solo lists and start looking them. You’ll recognize them I think once you hear them.

I play the G on the F horn usually but for this passage from Till I use the BFlat horn for clarity’s sake!
