Thank you, thank you, thank you, so much! You always make me want to crochet! I kinda lost my crojo, but after watching your video, I got it back! Love all this yarn, beautiful! And thank you again!
Oh my gosh, Sorry for making so many comments, but I just realized the perfect use for the dotted line, something I need for a special project I'm designing! I did not realize it until you made the swatch and then held up the label, the label shows, in the letters of the words "Dotted Line" how the distribution of colors makes broken up lines, which is something that I thought would be difficult to find when I went to search yarns for my project!!!! THANKS FOR HOLDING UP THE LABEL CLOSE TO THE CAMERA, ABD FOR DOING THE SWATCH!!! That's exactly what I need, and I have spent A LOT of time trying to figure out how I was going to show bits of color like that, I was thinking that I'd end up having to do some embroidery or overlay work to achieve the look I wanted, or that I would have to spend tons of money and time on ordering customized dyed yarn! I will get some Dotted Line, through your link, THANKS!!!!
You had me dying laughing with the butter pecan thing. I was looking the same way when you said what it was called. That was too funny. Lol. I love your videos.
I came across your channel when reviewing another channel yarn haul and I most say I loved it. You talk with a great voice and the videos are clear. Keep the honest reviews coming. I agree too grease is not my movie.
Hi fiber spider, it's Liz here from Scotland, just to say that I love your channel. I run a crochet class once a week and teach beginners and advanced, due to Carona virus our classes have stopped. But I have put all of my ladies onto your tutorials as I find that you explain everything great, it makes it easy for them to follow, so thank you you have saved my group. Also want to say that I just got some lion brand ice cream yarn in blueberry. I am loving the colours. I am doing a simple granny square for a baby. Thank you 🏴
I'm a new crocheter and have absolutely fallen in love with Lion Brand yarns! They're affordable and they all feel so nice! So far, Ice Cream is my favorite! I also don't understand how they came up with the name for the Butter Pecan colorway! Lol I enjoy videos like this because I can see the yarn colors better than on the websites and how easy or difficult they are to work with. Thanks for sharing! 😁
I made a Granny Square sweater with Ice Cream Cotton Blend in Rainbow. It turned out nicely very easy to crochet with I used a 5.5 mm hook, very soft to wear. I washed on delicate, lay it flat to dry I have a sweater drying rack. Always enjoy your videos. Take care.
Fiber, thanks for reviewing the yarn today. Also crocheting with the yarn. It's all pretty. Love the dotted line and the big scoop. I could see the dotted line wood be nice in a boom a rang shawl.
Love the look of new yarns. I’m addicted to Comfy Cotton so can’t wait to try the Ice Cream Cotton Blend. I love Lion Brand; been using their yarns about twice as long as you!! Thanks for the great reviews!
I love Lion Brand as well. I have several of the ice cream scoops in the smaller version but I did get to work with the Yellow in Big Scoops once. It was when I first started crocheting about 2 years ago and if I had known they were gonna stop carrying it I would have bought more. I have made several Lion Brand purchases since the pandemic and I love what I have purchased. I did 18 hats so far for their HATNOTHATE campaign.
Oooh - Dotted Line 💜 I might be in love! I'm going to find it & check out all the colors. ☺ I really want to see all the colorways of each of these yarns. Lion brand is really stepping up their game! I'm so glad you got these to unbox & share with us, Spidey! Thanks for all your amazing tutorials. Stay wonderful! 🌻
I appreciate this, as I used to shop & buy Lion Brand a lot, but haven't in the past 5 or 6 years. And, Lion Brand discontinued my favorite yarn of all time, Microspun - I recently wrote to them, begging them to bring it back, as there's very few yarns out there that are made with 100% microfiber, and the very few that are, do not have the same qualities as Microspun. People that I made things for out of Microspun, almost 15 years ago, are STILL asking me if I can find a yarn similar enough to make them MORE. I've tried different yarns with the same patterns, but people swear the garments and home decor projects I made from Microspun are totally different patterns, it does make that much of a difference! The fact that the yarn is lightweight yet has excellent drape makes it great for warm weather garments, and the drape also allows for very fancy lacy projects. Sorry about my Microspun rant!.😉
About cotton yarn - It's just what you get accustomed to. After making a lot of projects with 100% cotton yarn, I would get very flustered using acrylic, because it seemed too slippery, and I had a tough time controlling it, especially in the beginning of a project where there's not much to hold onto. And I'm someone who loves working with thread, too, so it's not just due to cotton being thicker. To see me working with acrylic after using cotton, I must have looked like someone who was first learning to crochet, all fiddly. To this day, when I need to learn a difficult stitch pattern, I use cotton, and when creating my own stitch patterns or trying new things, I use cotton, but then I eventually have to try things out in the exact yarn I plan to use, also, I guess I'm just more comfortable with it. I keep a little ball of cotton on my table that I use & reuse, trying things out, and it really SOFTENS UP A LOT, WITH USE, but it softens up so much that I eventually have to toss it, or at least cut the most used part off! 😉
Hope you are well and staying healthy. Hope your mom is well too. What is your favorite yarn of the moment? I’m really loving cake yarn but my favorite is Bernat velvet and Hot Cakes from Plymouth Yarn. Lion Brand Shawl in a ball is nice to work with. I agree...that looks like a 3 rather than a worsted weight of 4.
Thank you for the review. The frog test is important to me, I constantly find myself restarting my projects. That's par for someone who's only been crocheting since January, lol. Keep up the great tutorials.
Not a fan of Lion Brand yarns and definitely not of 100% acrylic (or sponsored videos for that matter) but the Dotted Line yarn has me greatly tempted - beautiful Great video - most "reviews" are nothing but first impressions - you actually used the yarn and that makes a big difference
I agree with your take on the misnomer of Big Scoop Butter Pecan. That happens to be my favorite ice cream flavor (after Vanilla lol), and I've never had any that contains any blue ingredients. However, the Ice Cream Cotton Blend Chocolate could easily be called Butter Pecan - no argument. But it actually made me think of Cappucino or Tiramisu, wonderful flavors in gelato. I can't wait to add some of these yarns to my stash. (Don't tell my husband. shhhh) I love your videos, unboxings and tutorials. Please don't ever stop. Tina. P.S. Grease on Broadway was soooo much better than the film. But then Broadway usually is. ;-)
So glad to see you! I love that hat on you. I am not a fan of "Grease" either. I saw a live version thinking I would change my mind. I didn't but then again I am not a fan of "Annie" either. We all have our favorites. One of my favorite ice cream flavors is Butter Pecan and that yarn is not named right. LOL Thanks for sharing! Lion Brand is one of my favorites. When I lived in Astoria Queens I always took the subway to their store. Loved their windows and how they decorated them. Take care!
I used the Dotted Line for 2 cowls and loved it. It gave a nice ombre effect and it is soft next to the skin. I'll look at the Big Scoop new colors. One big skein will make a nice size blanket for charity baby blanket. I agree that it would be great if Pound of Love and Big Scoop were compatible and able to be used in the same project.
Thank you for a brilliant video and for showing the lovely yarn from Lion Brand. I watch a lot of your videos and tutorials and you are an excellent teacher. I am crocheting a blanket at the moment using the Glorious Granny pattern that you taught me 😊 thank you again Mr Spider and by the way I love your hat. Take care and keep safe. ☺️
The Butter Pecan is so gorgeous. Maybe the Butter Pecan was served in a blue bowl? What every you use it for will be beautiful. Anxious to see what you come up with .Thanks for sharing
Maybe a stray blueberry fell into the vat of butter pecan at the factory, lol. Anyway, that Lion Brand cotton blend "chocolate" is gorgeous! I want to just lie around in a pile of it :-)
I watched a tutorial where you were using Big Scoop and I immediately wanted to get some for a project I am about to start. I am in the UK but managed to get some Strawberry and I cant wait to start my project.
Oh I just love the look of the dotted line yarn and watching you stitch it up makes me feel I’m going to have to buy some and make me a shawl I’ve crochet some of your patterns in shawls and was very impressed with them. So I think I’ll try them with this thinner weight yarn just to see how they turn out, thanks for all your hard work I appreciate that you share. As a beginner I’m always ready for new ideas and a challenge.
I have an overflowing lined decorative laundry basketful,if Ice Cream Yarn. It makes wonderful preemie blankets... I should get a couple of Big Svoops.. I am using an H hook in the baby blanket I am using the Ice Cream Cotton Blend. The more you use this yarn, the more you will like it.. 👍
You are the Bestest of Best 💖💖💖💖when you share unboxings!!!! You let us know exactly all we should consider when it comes yo your opinion which for me I 👏👏👏👏 Don't change anything about your channel !!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Pretty, pretty yarn. I have used the Ice Cream Big Scoop before and l-o-v-e it. Blue in Butter Peacn hmmm, I with you on that. The Dotted Line looks really nice also and will be adding it to my wish list for the future. Thanks for the unboxing and review.
I took your advice and ordered 8 of the Lionbrand Pound of Love. I’d never tried it before. It arrived last week and I’m smitten! Thanks for the recommendations. Now off to order some of the Ice Cream! Peg~
I Love Lion Brand but I am not familiar with a lot of their products. I will order the Big Scoop and the Dotted Line tomorrow morning!!! Your presentation helped me to decide. Thank you so much!!!! 🙏💖
Hello, I use ice cream for alot of baby items. I usually pair it with loops n threads snuggly wuggly to get the solids (like white) in the bigger skeins. thanks for reviewing the cotton blend and the dotted line. I will def buy both of those in future, :)
Just a thought for consideration...pink ladies could refer to Victorian homes or it is also used to refer to volunteers at hospitals. They are often referred to as " the pink ladies" because of the salmony pink color they wear.
You are a fan of the unconventional and that's great. It balances out the fact that I love Grease (and could probably repeat the script verbatim lol) but have never been able to sit through LSOH or RHPS. 🙃 Take care and stay safe! 🤗 Loads of love from Montreal,Quebec.
Love these as it gives me yarn purchase ideas hehe, and I'm with ya i am not a fan of Greece (musical) either but love little shop of horrors and rocky horror. Youre right about the name of that yarn to, butter pecan makes you think pale greens cream etc not blue ha x
I love Lion Brand yarn as well. I am getting the urge to want to order yarn from them now. The colors that you got in all the yarn is gorgeous. When it comes to puling yarn out of the middle, sometimes you get the yarn barf and sometimes you don't. In your case, unfortunately, you got yarn barf twice. Oh well, it eventually gets used up.
Maybe they thought the colorway was taking into account the ice cream bowl plus the ice cream butter pecan? Hmm... I would love this yarn and Mandala came in a 4 weight, AND had coordinating solid colors, like Pound of Love. There's always room for more yarn😊.
I love the big scoop! I never ate blue butter pecan ice cream though. It should definitely have a name that reflects the beautiful blue. Maybe they made a mistake with the wrong wrapper on the yarn.
Love your review. As for the movie "Grease", I liked it when it first came out. Then I got married to a man who literly wore out 6(yes 6) VHS tapes of that movie. I love Susan Bates. .I lost my 5.5 between the slats on my deck..did not have another, so I had to use a Boye...Never had trouble with splitting with Red Heart SS..thought maybe it was the color (charcoal )..now that you mention it, I bet it was the hook!! Ha!

I like that they mixed warm and cool colors in the Lime Ice Cream, it actually works well, more than I would expect!
Being addicted to the glorious granny squares I would be in paradise with that box of yarns!
LOL, the 'Kermit test' I like that!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, so much! You always make me want to crochet! I kinda lost my crojo, but after watching your video, I got it back! Love all this yarn, beautiful! And thank you again!

I love Lion Brand yarn 🧶. For the lime colorway think Italian ices, sherbet or pistachio ice cream 🍨.
I came across your channel when reviewing another channel yarn haul and I most say I loved it. You talk with a great voice and the videos are clear. Keep the honest reviews coming. I agree too grease is not my movie.
The Butter Pecan I would rename as ‘Nantucket Summer’.

Love your yarn selection & yes I do believe that huge ice cream yarn should have had a blue something name!

Butter pecan,....ah, No. Blueberries and Cream, Yes. Lion brand definitely missed the mark when naming that colorway.
Thank you for the review.

Little Shop of Horrors is my favorite musical play!!
Love the varigated wool. I am a fan of it.

Oh I just love the look of the dotted line yarn and watching you stitch it up makes me feel I’m going to have to buy some and make me a shawl

i LOOOVE dotted line, ive made two sweaters with it, had to do double strands to get the gauge right but i love it so much
Hello, I use ice cream for alot of baby items. I usually pair it with loops n threads snuggly wuggly to get the solids (like white) in the bigger skeins. thanks for reviewing the cotton blend and the dotted line. I will def buy both of those in future, :)
Balanced Diet of Fiber: another reason to stitch, like I needed more "reasons"!
Just a thought for consideration...pink ladies could refer to Victorian homes or it is also used to refer to volunteers at hospitals. They are often referred to as " the pink ladies" because of the salmony pink color they wear.
Love the lime ice cream. I’d think of lime sherbet 😀
Awesome haul. Love it all.
I made the flower wrap with the lime Ice cream. Not done yet but it looks cool so far
I love the dotted line
You are a fan of the unconventional and that's great. It balances out the fact that I love Grease (and could probably repeat the script verbatim lol) but have never been able to sit through LSOH or RHPS. 🙃 Take care and stay safe! 🤗 Loads of love from Montreal,Quebec.
My favorite lion brand I love love it so happy for you 👍
Love these as it gives me yarn purchase ideas hehe, and I'm with ya i am not a fan of Greece (musical) either but love little shop of horrors and rocky horror. Youre right about the name of that yarn to, butter pecan makes you think pale greens cream etc not blue ha x
The big scoop I keep thinking blueberry cheesecake. That covers blue and the tan as well as white.
Love them all but I really love the Dotted Lines.
oh yes and you and i would LOVE to have bigger skeins of Ferris Wheel, too ;)
I want the ice cream yarn....I may have to splurge this payday. Gorgeous yarns, sets the mind planning.
'
Thank you for Sharing, beautiful yarn
I love Lion Brand yarn as well. I am getting the urge to want to order yarn from them now. The colors that you got in all the yarn is gorgeous. When it comes to puling yarn out of the middle, sometimes you get the yarn barf and sometimes you don't. In your case, unfortunately, you got yarn barf twice. Oh well, it eventually gets used up.
Glad you got sponsored
I don't hate the movie, but got so sick of watching it all the time, I banned it from my home until I was ready to watch it. That took nearly 30 yrs. Yes... ALL self stripinG, OR variegated yarn should have matching solids. .. That would be sooo helpful.
Psst
Lion brand all cotton is not like the “ other “ most use and I for one absolutely love LBs cotton. It’s incredibly soft and pliable and never splits !!! 💜💙💗💕🦋🦋🦋🦋
Loving these yarns
I love Lion Brand yarns. These are so pretty, I'm planning on buying the Ice Cream yarn.
My favourites are the big scoop ice cream too XXXXX
Butter pecan with with blueberry crumble‼😋
The bowl for the blue in the butter pacan
I'm gonna have to try some Ice Cream yarn. I'm with you about the name of butter pecan for a yarn that has blue in it. If my butter pecan ice cream ( for real) had blue in it, I'd think it was bad......lol. Stay safe.
Nice. Love the cotton and dotted line. Also if you have a yarn that splits, try a Susan bates❤ hook..it works
I love Susan Bates. .I lost my 5.5 between the slats on my deck..did not have another, so I had to use a Boye...Never had trouble with splitting with Red Heart SS..thought maybe it was the color (charcoal )..now that you mention it, I bet it was the hook!! Ha!
On the big ball ice cream with the blue in it I think of beaches
I agree i see the icecream big scoops as a blueberry color way im not seeing pecan in those colors
Great Review, Thanks so much for sharing with us :)
Love lion brand yarns!
I used the Cotton borndcRsunbiwvti nskrcs cute preemie blsnket, and a matchuhgbhst. I just ordered some of the other colors, and plan tomgervthemnsll. The Chocolate woukd make a.beautiful shawl. I hope to get at least two skeins of each color.
I have fallen in love with. the Ice Cream Yarns.. I’ve been using them for my little Preemie blankets and hats. The colors are visor pretty, and my little blsnkets and hats become unbelievably soft when washed, and rinsed with a good fabric softener. I love them!
I don’t see Butter Pecan either. Should have shades of beige. That is my favorite ice cream and there is no blue. Ice cream blends look good though.
I thought Frog was an acronym and was sitting here thinking what it could stand for.
Best I came up with was ‘F(lip), Rip Or Garbage’.
Thank you!
Maybe the blue in the buttered pecan represents the bowl
'Blueberry Ripple' would be a better name for the Big Scoop yarn :)
That should have been named
Cape Cod
Nothing about that colourway is butter pecan - take it from a butter pecan freak lol !
I love butter pecan and I agree with you. That is not butter pecan.
I can imagine the blue is the cup in which the ice cream is served ;)
