- Mila’s parents are blind, but she can see. The 7-year-old can and must be independent, and sometimes, her parents just have to let go.
Whether they’re crossing the road or doing housework: Mila’s parents had to trust her from a very early age. But, at the same time, they don’t want their child to feel burdened with the responsibility of looking out for the family: Mila should be able to have a normal a childhood as possible. How does that work? Carolina Machhaus met the family.

My mother is partially sighted and was left by my father at a young age with two kids, I wouldn't change a thing though she raised us well and gave us as an amazing childhood like anyone else

Both of my grandparents were blind and they raised 3 kids. I grew up admiring my Grandma Black more than any other woman in my life. She had some amazing skills!
That’s a shame that people assume people aren’t capable because of a disability. We give everyone the benefit of the doubt that they can care for their children until we observe otherwise. People should extend that to everyone. If you aren’t an expert on living with that particular disability and all the devices and supports available for independent living, how dare you make the worst assumptions.

My mom was blind for one year. I was grown with a ten year old daughter at the time and it was hard. My mom lived on her own and I did all the doctors appointments etc for her. She had diabetic cataract surgery and was able to see again. I can't imagine being a child and having to grow up so quickly. But her parents are absolutely amazing and I appreciate how they insist on providing her with a wonderful life. Sadly, I lost my mom in October. But I'm grateful for the time I had even that period of blindness.

Just close your eye and walk 1 km, than you probably understand how challenging vison-less peoples everyday life be. Anyway it's a life, exist only one time, there is no next life or re-borth. So, we all need to enjoy our life whatever disablities we have.

I don’t see the problem with parenting blind.
Your wife is very beautiful, whit dark curels comlipenting her snow skin and perfect face shape, slim but not skinny , looking good in black , jacket especially. Not at all matching the helping dog the stick and the big sign on her jacket.Even more beautiful Nekst to your daughter ❤ your Husbond is a beautiful classic Asian do you know this? Lol. Thats a very strong statement .You look bit like ... revolutionaries of the blind folded .both beautiful and smart. I love Berlin. You are so lucky to live there, and so is your girl.
In the future, there will be cybernetics that will help them see again 👌👍
How far into the future are we talking about here? In time for them to see their daughter graduate? Or in her wedding dress? Or ever in their lifetime? I think not!
So basically what you're doing here is stripping them of their merits of living as normal a life as possible, of their resilience and sense of fulfillment, and indirect saying: "your life isn't ok, but I don't care, there's nothing to worry about, because surely there will be some new fangled technology that will solve the problem... after all, we've got smartphones, so sky's the limit, right?" You're one of those people that don't accept other people as they are, despite that they are trying to be a normal of a german family as possible! For you they are inadequate and need to be rectified, because in your opinion, happiness and fulfillment can only be obtained if you live by the society's informal norms, be they totally wrong, as: constantly seeking money, glamour, fame...!

@@sevena.channel Why would that be? Why would it be "realist" for the child to "lose it"? Doesn't she get enough love, support, attention, etc... from their parents? I think she gets more than many! And you must have missed the part in which they show that they have a rule that the parents have to try to solve any problem on their own, and only if they can't manage they can resort on asking their daughter for help! So it won't be a burden on the child!
And if you had paid attention, the main concern that the child expressed was about other people, just like yourself, that treat them like outcasts! So you and people like you are fulfilling your own prophecy!
Shame on you for doubting her chance at happiness!
I think the contrary! I think she will be a lot happier than most of the people because she will be able to appreciate the abilities she has, because she will be much more responsible, hard working and confident!

Why wear glasses if your blind
Good question. Some people still have a light sensitivity even though they are legally blind.
He could have light sensitivity or he could also be able to see vague shapes that are enhanced by the glasses
Because he is not 100% blind
Most of blind people aren't totaly blind, but are affected in such a manner that they can't rely on their vision on almost nothing, but in some cases the vision that is left can be useful in some tasks... and if that residual vision can be improoved in any way, than why not?
Another reason might be that the blind person is afraid of bumping into things that might get in their eyes and hurt them... but don't want to ware dark glasses because they can still see some light and it's helpful to them.

I think it's selfish blind people having children, then being a burden on them.
How about being in Pakistan and making them work in brick-shaping all day! Is that ok, just because the parents that are doing that can see?
Isn't the gift of life, that the child received from their parents worth it?
You think that showing your mom where a dam button is, constitutes a "burden"? I think that the majority of children help their sighted parents in digital tasks every day! But that "doesn't count" for you, because this tipe of family doesn't fit in your vision of the world! The same vision that makes it normal to give children things and not love and attention, or have a child and divorce afterwards
If some kids had the choice, I'm sure they'd prefer a blind parent to an alcohol- or drug-dependent one ...
It was very irresponsible and selfish of this blind couple to have a child. Although they say that their daughter _"is not a domestic help"_ , *the reality* is is that she DOES and WILL have to help her parents and DOESN'T and WON'T have a regular carefree childhood that every child deserves to have.
Blind or not as long as the parents are decent good parents that provide love, stability, emotional support and guidance children will automatically adapt to any lifestyle. This family is more well balanced than a lot of sighted and able families.
@@sharmabright1506 it doesn't matter. It was still reckless and selfish and it's only by sheer stupid luck that they *appear* to be managing, ( *for now* ). Who knows what the future holds as things can take an unfortunate turn. Anyone paying attention to the reality of this world knows how ruthless, unpredictable and difficult life can be even for non-disabled people.
"DOESN'T and WON'T have a regular carefree childhood that every child deserves to have" What about more than half of the dam world that are living in poverty and harsh conditions that are still deciding to make children (and usually a lot of them)?! Have you seen DW documentaries on Pakistan? There was a 5-year old child that was shaping hundreds, or even thousands (I don't remember exactly) of bricks every day! And this family lives in Germany! What do you have to say about that?
And notice that her parents are trying to make her happy in every way, even crawling through a playground whilst being blind! In general, people are not that devoted to their children, so in my opinion even you might not give your child as much love and attention as this family does!
