Enjoying your videos, particularly your stoicism in the face of bad weather, your thoughts on living in the moment and your joy on finding an open cafe!

Great stuff! So helpful! I'll be visiting family south of London in late April and planning to do this particular trail (I've done several others up north!) I love all the mileage notations you give and the details along the way! Thanks!

    Hello Sheep
I'm just revisiting your coverage of SDW as I've been ticking off stretches of the trail from Winchester as far as Amberly through the summer.
Like you I missed Winchester Cathedral but I made up for it with a visit to Chichester Cathedral which I can thoroughly recommend as a place for a days rest. (& reasonably connected by bus)
Chichester has a lot of Roman history and Salt Hill (on the trail before the Sustainability Centre) got its name from being the route the Romans used to pack salt north from the salt pans on the coast near Chichester. I was thrilled to get my first sighting of the eastern end of the Isle of Whight from Salt Hill.
For me that Roman Road with the compacted flintstones east of Bignor Hill was hard on the feet!
Just now waiting for the next dry sunny day to continue in following your footsteps east from Amberley Station.
    Pete 😊

Oo, so Salt Hill is off the trail and it's more interesting that the Roman road on the trail? Have you been to Arundel castle and cathedral? I went to the castle and it's really nice

Lol you did go to cadence cafe. I had a very expensive cheese toasty there 😁. The village at Amberley is beautiful, truly stunning with plenty of thatched houses. I’ve run that part of the Way many times 😅
