Love how you even do the criss-cross apple sauce demonstration as well as a very in depth detailed review of the lumbar/back adjustment review (which also makes a great demonstration of the upright capabilities of the chair which other youtubers fail to highlight properly). This video demystifies some of the potential reasons why I read online reviews of peeps saying the embody pokes their back. This increases my confidence in going Embody over Leap V2 even more.

Came from a SecretLab Omega as well and when I tried it out at the showroom, I was just blown away. Showroom rep also mentioned to lift then shift the arm rests. The other TH-camrs really should have corrected/updated their videos about it. Got my regular emobdy just yesterday and i'm really digging the chair!
Hell yeah, I love the secret lab chair but I can't sugar coat that there were some things a bit uncomfortable in it. I will always keep it because it's still a good chair. The embody is absolutely 🔥. Glad you managed to get yours my friend. And yeah, I still haven't seen a video where they talked about the arm shift correctly. Not even a comment. I found that out from reading a comment section. No disrespect to them as I'm sure they didn't know, but they could've left a comment, or pinned a comment, or mentioned it in a update video lol.

Personally, not yet. Having no headrest hasn't bothered me too much like I thought it would. Even coming from a secret labs as well. I do know about Atlas making a headrest for these. I will invest in that though I don't necessarily need it. But it is nice to have when you do want a lounge back a bit
I recently replaced my Secret Lab chair for a normal Embody since the Secret Lab chair started to aggravate my hips. I like the normal Embody but since it is still in the return period I decided to swap it for the gaming model since I felt like I needed the extra cushioning.

Got this chair last week more on impulse than anything. Sore ass tailbone pain burning thighs lower back pain. But now all that is easing up starting to feel a bit more comfortable as the days go on. Definitely a bit warmer than my aeron but I’m adjusting.
Nice video you forgot to show the adjustment on the handle of the lean back tension. The knob around the thing to lower and higher the chair can be adjusted to allow for how lose or firm the chair will lean back. you showed the 4 levels on how far you can lean back. The knob around the up and down level can be moved for this. Either way great video check out the atlas headrest i have it on my embody and makes sure a huge difference
This was one of the best reviews for the arm rest demo. Based on your elbow angle, it didn’t quite look 90 degrees. But if you did make them 90 degrees, would your armrest hit against your desk edge? The lack of arm rest forward and back retraction is what I’m wondering will work for me
For me yes. At the 90° angle, it does hit the edge of the desk. I personally don't mind that as I personally like it to be even so I can rest my whole arm and have a comfortable rest when I use my KB&M. I do hope that answer helps you in anyway 🫡
I just ordered this exact chair and watching all the videos 😂 I had bought a haworth fern and after two weeks I really wasnt a fan of the seat, when moving the seat forward (im 6'2) there was a huge gap behind the seat. Cant wait for this one!
I read that newer models have less squeaking. When I tried this at our local showroom two weeks ago, it squeaks a lot, like by the time you lean back it squeaks. Probably an older unit because it was the only sample there and was being used by their boss. I also tried the Aeron remaster, it was good

Great review, love all the details you presented! I just ordered one after sitting in one in the Atlanta showroom and being blown away! I was concerned that I would be too tall for it, at 6'5, but it seemed to fit me well in the showroom. I currently have a Maingear GT MKII from Micro Center (still within the 30 day return period) and I feel like it might be too firm, especially compared to the Embody. From what I can tell, the Maingear is very similar to the Secretlab Titan Evo, which was the other option I was considering. Main uses are programming work (8+ hours a day) along with PC gaming. Hoping for the best when it arrives and will probably also get the headrest from Atlas

I was definitely always concerned with people who are very tall sitting in this chair because it looks like a chair for people of my height maybe a tiny bit taller, but you're almost a whole foot taller than I am lol. Having the secret lab for over a year and sitting it just for PC gaming is fine and all but it can be a little bit iffy when you work from home and PC game on the side as well. The embody is definitely a great chair. The only thing I had to do was get armrest cushions for it as the ones that came with it can definitely be a problem for the elbows after a while. I pre-ordered the headrest from Atlas and definitely looking forward to trying that out.
I've had this chair for about a month. I don't get the cons the "noise" many people complain about? I was iffy about no headrest but atlas is making one if needed, I don't really use it.

I've been doing a marathon of ergo chair videos the past few days for the Herman Millar Embody, Haworth Fern, Haworth Zody II, Steel Case Leap V2, Steelcase Amia. I'm also prior military now trying to save my back working from home. This is the best review of the Embody chair. I'm also 5'7". I liked how you showed the details of how you sit and the arm rests at your standing desk. I prefer to sit up straight or perched a little forward while working. Was the chair locked in the most upright position at the time?
Got mine from a black Friday deal, had it about 3 weeks now, it does not impress straight away, but I am finding it better as time goes on. No way would I go back now! Good review though

Also got this chair delivered today man is it comfortable much softer than the secretlabs feels good looks nice. Man that box was huge was concerned wasn't able to get it in the door lol
LOL well big box was well worth it with a chair already assembled! Definitely a comfortable chair. Still not worth the price tag but compared to the secret lab it's a game changer

Hi, really nice review! Although I have a question, are there any issues with squeaks and noises cuz I’ve heard a bunch of people complaining about the noise which kind of held me back from getting the chair so yeah I’m kind of worried.
13:50 I mentioned the noise the chair makes but yeah my mic didn't pick up much 🤣. When leaning back in the chair, you don't really hear anything. However, when you're moving side to side, yeah there's some noise. Not annoyingly but there is some. It doesn't necessarily bother me but if you look for the noise, most definitely you'll hear it. I usually have headphones or speakers when I'm gaming in this chair so I don't focus on it or anything. Hope that helps your decision! 💪🏾
Hey, I actually just had mine delivered yesterday. I was also wondering how bad the noise was going to be but to my surprise…there’s is actually zero noise lol. I don’t know if they addressed it at a manufacturing level or if the noise seemed so pronounced on TH-cam because they’re using microphones. I don’t know if you have one yet or not but I can tell you as of one day sitting in the chair I’m not impressed enough to keep it. I’m going to give it a couple of weeks before I make a decision but I’m 6’1 230lbs and my butt keeps falling asleep and my tailbone was hurting after just 40-45 minutes on the chair. Anyway I don’t want to write too much but if you have any questions let me know. Good luck.
Understandable. Alot of their chairs are top tier. It was either of this chair or the Aeron but in our offices in the military that's all they had so I went with this one. No regrets

"hours of assembly..." lol. but yeah i was looking at secret labs chairs and bought this one instead. A car seat for a gaming chair just doesn't make sense to me at all for comfort... I can't compare but I upgraded from a serta chair from sam's club that put my ass to sleep in 2 hours and literally crumbled apart within 15 months of using 4 or 5 hours a day. This thing is nice.
I respect the gaming chair style looking like a racing car seat. It's mainly going for aesthetic reasons and such. However, in the long run, if you're a gamer and you know you're going to be sitting down for a while the investment for a good chair is definitely worth it. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a firm believer that nose chairs should cause this much however I understand the work that was done to make this chair. "Got to pay to play" as I always say. I still love my secret lab chair and I still have it, but the embody gaming chair is definitely top tier and worth it. 🤙🏾
Now that I got a headrest for the embody, no I don't miss it anymore. I was able to cope without it before but now that Atlas Headrest made a great headrest for the embody, it's definitely a game changer

Yessir! Used it everyday since that video and I can say for certain I love it. Secret labs is cool... Aesthetically. However, as a long run chair it's not. I know exactly what you're going through with that chair. Haven't had any issues with the embody.
I do! After almost a full year this chair is definitely the best chair I've owned. I STILL believe the price is crazy even though I understand the research and thought process that was put into making the chair. Considering I'm only 5'7 the chair fits me perfectly. Anyone in the taller category, I personally cannot say. What I will say though, the chair by itself is top tier but if anyone was willing to upgrade it a bit and get the headrest that another company named Atlas headrest made for the chair, it's definitely the way to go. I mainly bought it for my back, I can definitely say I haven't had any back trouble since getting the chairs when I'm always home. If you're a big gamer or someone who does a lot of work in the chair I highly recommend it. But if someone isn't going to use the chair as much as that or if they're not working from home like myself, I highly recommend going a different route considering the price. 🫡

You're absolutely right. Though I'm okay as that hasn't been an issue for me, In the little time that I have had it I have caught myself trying to lean back into it a little bit.
@@GGGryphonZ I have the old office version, no squeaking whatsoever even knowing what to listen for, but also with no head rest. It would be a *VERY* nice feature to have; would rarely use it, but when I do *NEED* it, I really *NEED* it. Also working from home, so if I feel something coming on I have to push back into the wall and lean my head against it, or lay down in bed for a few minutes. As for getting a headrest for it (I haven't), I just heard you'll actually void warranty for the chair. How? That makes no sense to me. "Downsides" I've noticed: 1) No headrest. Which is why I'm considering other chairs in this rather expensive category. 2) No independent seat angle adjustment. 3) No front seat elevation control (raise the knee portion). 4) Can't raise the back. 5) No "pan control" for the armrests, although not something I'm missing. 6) Armrests can't be stowed away (raised up/back). Probably can't remove them either for those who prefer that. They're okay for me though. 7) Doesn't appear to come in leather? I personally prefer slide resistant fabric (leather too "sticky"), but for some this is a deal breaker. On the positive side, it's probably on the cheaper end for a chair that comes with a 12-year warranty and certified for 24/7 use. All in all, it's an amazing chair that I've used for years now, but I really miss that headrest. Gaming chairs? Break down usually at least once during warranty, and immediately after. I just gave up after one, horrific build quality. Having read horror stories with Chinese quality gas lifts - yes, fatalities - I would just stay way clear of those, even if I haven't heard of such stories about chairs shipped to the west.

So far so good. Haven't had any discomfort or anything. Considering the bottom is kind of like a spring like feature where it's not firm, it basically shapes the form of your body if that makes sense. So being at work and sitting on it for hours is no issue. Though it is always healthy to stand up every so often after sitting for long periods of time though. That goes for any chair!

I've been doing a marathon of ergo chair videos the past few days for the Herman Millar Embody, Haworth Fern, Haworth Zody II, Steel Case Leap V2, Steelcase Amia. I'm also prior military now trying to save my back working from home.
This is the best review of the Embody chair. I'm also 5'7". I liked how you showed the details of how you sit and the arm rests at your standing desk. I prefer to sit up straight or perched a little forward while working. Was the chair locked in the most upright position at the time?

Got mine from a black Friday deal, had it about 3 weeks now, it does not impress straight away, but I am finding it better as time goes on. No way would I go back now! Good review though
I definitely understand what you mean. It felt good on the initial sit down, but I definitely had to get used to the arm rests and find the right height. It is nice, but I will always stand it's definitely not worth The price tag. But I understand the phrase pay to play lol. Thank you for watching as well! 🫡
Also got this chair delivered today man is it comfortable much softer than the secretlabs feels good looks nice. Man that box was huge was concerned wasn't able to get it in the door lol
LOL well big box was well worth it with a chair already assembled! Definitely a comfortable chair. Still not worth the price tag but compared to the secret lab it's a game changer

Hi, really nice review! Although I have a question, are there any issues with squeaks and noises cuz I’ve heard a bunch of people complaining about the noise which kind of held me back from getting the chair so yeah I’m kind of worried.
13:50 I mentioned the noise the chair makes but yeah my mic didn't pick up much 🤣. When leaning back in the chair, you don't really hear anything. However, when you're moving side to side, yeah there's some noise. Not annoyingly but there is some. It doesn't necessarily bother me but if you look for the noise, most definitely you'll hear it. I usually have headphones or speakers when I'm gaming in this chair so I don't focus on it or anything. Hope that helps your decision! 💪🏾
Hey, I actually just had mine delivered yesterday. I was also wondering how bad the noise was going to be but to my surprise…there’s is actually zero noise lol. I don’t know if they addressed it at a manufacturing level or if the noise seemed so pronounced on TH-cam because they’re using microphones. I don’t know if you have one yet or not but I can tell you as of one day sitting in the chair I’m not impressed enough to keep it. I’m going to give it a couple of weeks before I make a decision but I’m 6’1 230lbs and my butt keeps falling asleep and my tailbone was hurting after just 40-45 minutes on the chair. Understandable. Alot of their chairs are top tier. It was either of this chair or the Aeron but in our offices in the military that's all they had so I went with this one. No regrets

"hours of assembly..." lol. but yeah i was looking at secret labs chairs and bought this one instead. A car seat for a gaming chair just doesn't make sense to me at all for comfort... I can't compare but I upgraded from a serta chair from sam's club that put my ass to sleep in 2 hours and literally crumbled apart within 15 months of using 4 or 5 hours a day. This thing is nice.
I respect the gaming chair style looking like a racing car seat. It's mainly going for aesthetic reasons and such. However, in the long run, if you're a gamer and you know you're going to be sitting down for a while the investment for a good chair is definitely worth it. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a firm believer that nose chairs should cause this much however I understand the work that was done to make this chair. "Got to pay to play" as I always say. I still love my secret lab chair and I still have it, but the embody gaming chair is definitely top tier and worth it. 🤙🏾

Now that I got a headrest for the embody, no I don't miss it anymore. I was able to cope without it before but now that Atlas Headrest made a great headrest for the embody, it's definitely a game changer

Yessir! Used it everyday since that video and I can say for certain I love it. Secret labs is cool... Aesthetically. However, as a long run chair it's not. I know exactly what you're going through with that chair. Haven't had any issues with the embody.

I do! After almost a full year this chair is definitely the best chair I've owned. I STILL believe the price is crazy even though I understand the research and thought process that was put into making the chair. Considering I'm only 5'7 the chair fits me perfectly. Anyone in the taller category, I personally cannot say. What I will say though, the chair by itself is top tier but if anyone was willing to upgrade it a bit and get the headrest that another company named Atlas headrest made for the chair, it's definitely the way to go. I mainly bought it for my back, I can definitely say I haven't had any back trouble since getting the chairs when I'm always home. If you're a big gamer or someone who does a lot of work in the chair I highly recommend it. But if someone isn't going to use the chair as much as that or if they're not working from home like myself, I highly recommend going a different route considering the price. 🫡

You're absolutely right. Though I'm okay as that hasn't been an issue for me, In the little time that I have had it I have caught myself trying to lean back into it a little bit.
Doesn't need a head rest. It's made to support your body in a way that won't hurt you.
@@GGGryphonZ I have the old office version, no squeaking whatsoever even knowing what to listen for, but also with no head rest. It would be a *VERY* nice feature to have; would rarely use it, but when I do *NEED* it, I really *NEED* it. Also working from home, so if I feel something coming on I have to push back into the wall and lean my head against it, or lay down in bed for a few minutes.
As for getting a headrest for it (I haven't), I just heard you'll actually void warranty for the chair. How? That makes no sense to me. "Downsides" I've noticed:
1) No headrest. Which is why I'm considering other chairs in this rather expensive category.
2) No independent seat angle adjustment.
3) No front seat elevation control (raise the knee portion).
4) Can't raise the back.
5) No "pan control" for the armrests, although not something I'm missing.
6) Armrests can't be stowed away (raised up/back). Probably can't remove them either for those who prefer that. They're okay for me though.
7) Doesn't appear to come in leather? I personally prefer slide resistant fabric (leather too "sticky"), but for some this is a deal breaker.
On the positive side, it's probably on the cheaper end for a chair that comes with a 12-year warranty and certified for 24/7 use. All in all, it's an amazing chair that I've used for years now, but I really miss that headrest. Gaming chairs? Break down usually at least once during warranty, and immediately after. I just gave up after one, horrific build quality. Having read horror stories with Chinese quality gas lifts - yes, fatalities - I would just stay way clear of those, even if I haven't heard of such stories about chairs shipped to the west.
hey buddy...I also have a Secretlabs Titan 2020 and I just ordered the regular version of the Embody...mine is expected to arrive March 10, 2023....14 weeks wait...I love my Secretlabs and will also be keeping it...but as you said, I feel this is my only chance to ever be able to grab a new Embody given that the prices will keep on going up fast with all this inflation, and this is the biggest discount Herman Miller has ever had, so I decided to take the plunge on this...by the way, I have watched at least 30 reviews on this chair and one of the TH-cam chair reviewers named Ahnestly showed that he is using a nice new very soft arm pad that will fit with the arms on the Embody...I already have this arm pad on another chair and I knew it is so incredibly soft, so I was really excited to see Anhestly says that it also fits the Embody as well...anyways, I make nothing from posting this but I enjoy your video and your excitement for your new chair as I am for mine so I thought I would put a link to the arm pads here if you would also like to try them...thanks for the review! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M8F9IYC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

how you feel about the seatpan over time?
So far so good. Haven't had any discomfort or anything. Considering the bottom is kind of like a spring like feature where it's not firm, it basically shapes the form of your body if that makes sense. So being at work and sitting on it for hours is no issue. Though it is always healthy to stand up every so often after sitting for long periods of time though. That goes for any chair!
