- I have needed to answer so many questions for players about the Adams Custom euphonium and it's many options that I decided to take care of that in a video. Some helpful links:

Been saving for 2 years for and Adams... I'm getting closer and I can't wait!! I love this video..
Can’t wait to get mine!
I'm curious to know your input on trigger euphoniums vs euphoniums without a trigger. Is it up to a players preference to say which one would be better?
For the Adams I would say it is personal preference. It would help on a couple notes, but the weight and maintenance issues of a trigger are not worth it for me. Adams is nicely in tune on the upper Eb (F in treble) and F (G in treble). If I still played a Besson or Sterling (my two previous brands) I would want a trigger for those notes especially. If you do some comparing here you can see what I mean:

Keep in mind that a trigger only helps on sharp notes.
I have not gotten the chance to play test an Adams but I hope to do so in the future, I have played on many different euphoniums, but haven't gotten the sound I want from any of them. I'm not sure what I want to purchase in the future.
+zachary Hodges The Adams has so many choices that you'll want to try a few if possible. If you are in the USA Adams will be at these events in the near future: Chicago Midwest show, NAMM show, TMEA, and ITEC in Knoxville
I hope to make it to ITEC this year, I will definitely try out the Adams there
Adams make remarkable, high quality horns but I don't understand why they don't adopt Pollard or Saturn water keys instead of the Amado which has chronic problem of sticking and leaking air over time and requires higher maintenance.
I believe Adams has started making their own water key similar to the Amado. The Pollard and Saturn are impressive and I probably could have asked for them on my horn (hence the word "Custom"), but they are both a bit clunky looking. I tried a Saturn key before I decided - Adams made up a 2nd valve slide so I could test it. Nothing wrong with how it works, except it was easier to open it when I did not mean to. Putting that on a euphonium main slide and/or the 3rd slide would be asking for trouble because of the way the horn fits on our body and the way the left arm crosses the 3rd tube.
Have you ever played a Besson New Standard euphonium?
Yes, between 1970 and 1980. Nice horns!
What kind of mouthpiece do you use?
I usually use a Wick 4AL (classic model). Sometimes I use a Wick Ultra SM4, but the 4AL is my favorite for its more open, singing sound.
+David Werden Have you ever used the griego cs5?
I've never used one.
+David Werden Would you consider using one?
Probably not. It is a smaller rim diameter than I prefer. My current goal is to try a Parker mouthpiece and then a Doug Elliott. I want something with separate rim, cup, and shank.
