Very sweet indeed. on that note I wish her mother had been the witch lady, and she herself a witch. It would be very funny to me to have a character who puts pride in her knowledge of science, and has been called a witch for heresy, and is very annoyed to find out she actually is a witch.

Bootstrap Bill was free to leave the ship after the events of the third movie. I think sometime in the 20 years between that movie and this one, at some point Bootstrap simply retired from the crew of Dutchman and went on to wherever souls go.
I'm pretty sure Will, as the heartless captain, was the only cursed member of the crew.

Indeed Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swan was not going to appear at all in this film, and the post credits was just Will having the "nightmare" of Davy Jones,
But people at test screenings were going mad, saying it was so wrong and that it felt weird and ilogical that she wasn't there and not even mentioned at all.
So barely weeks before release they added her non speaking cameo scene and changed the post credits to now include her sleeping next to Will.
Watching it a second time is a little more obvious that she filmed her scene clearly alone in a green screen that was just added later

Fun fact the Davy Jones end credit scene is actually fallowed up on in the crossover over that pirates of the Caribbean had with Sea of thieves
the trailer of that expansion is actually finally convinced me to get sea of thieves

@@BlueRoseWolfie The prologue before the actual story in the game begins, it all starts with a treasure, Jack hears a story in Tortuga about a treasure that has the ability to send those who have it across the horizon, Jack learns that this treasure belonged to Davy Jones and was locked away in one of Jone’s old strongholds, Jack thinks with Jones dead it will be easy to grab but that’s when he hears the rumors of Jone’s return for the Dutchman must always have a captain, But Jack still went forth and stole the treasure right from under the nose Jones doesn’t have, but Jones noticed it was gone and began to chase down the Black pearl, Jack then began to activate the treasure hoping that Jones was to far behind to fallow across the horizon, but the Dutchman just barely managed to catch up to the pearl as they both crossed the horizon together into the Sea of thieves, a battle broke out and Jones managed to sink the pearl and kill Jack hoping that his soul and the treasure would be his again, but there was a problem Jones realized that in this new world he did not control the after life of those who die at sea that power belonged to another, and in that moment he began to form a plan one where he would get his treasure back and insure his place as the one and only Ferryman of the sea no matter what world he was in, and the rest of the story is told on the Sea of thieves
The fact that Captain Salazar is also Anton Chigurh, one of the coolest, most intimidatingly enjoyable antagonists ever, just speaks to how talented Javier Bardem is

My biggest problem with this movie is the huge plot hole. Like the whole premise of this one is Jack trades his compass and that releases Salazar. But in Dead Man's Chest, Tia Dalma said that Jack bartered the compass from her. And then also but, they show Jack picking up the compass from the captain of the ship he was on. So none of it makes sense.
If she is the power behind the compass It's possible she came to claim it back, and then the deal was made between her and Jack. It did have the rule of never betray it, and we know she is real hard on betrayal.
@@shadowdivided where did you get the idea of that she is the power behind the compass it was never explained in the first trilogy why Jack has a magical compass other than the fact that he got it from Calypso or the reason why it’s magical. As we can see in the third movie they set Calypso free and she basically died because she didn’t return in a magical form or human form so how would that work since Jack used the Compass to find the fountain of youth? Also, why didn’t the captain who gave the compass to Jack in the fifth movie Just use it to save his life like we see Jack do all the time? So you’re telling me that dude had a magic compass, but didn’t use it. Why? Jack clearly used it to save his life in every movie and multiple times at that. I would expect the person who gave it to Jack to do the same thing at least once

I actually really like this movie. People are shitting on it too much actually. I mean yeah, Jack isn't the same but Johnny Depp was going through a rough time while they were filming this so you can't blame him at all. And in general I think this movie is super enjoyable. It's not as good as the trilogy but it doesn't need to be.
Yea I agree the original trilogy was one of the best trilogies of any movie IMO but 4 and 5 are still enjoyable.

It's not Johnny's acting for me, it's the script. The first 4 were all written by the same guys, but for 5 they got new writers who did not properly understand how to balance Jack's writing, so he just came off like an idiot. And then there are the retcons.

The blade loses its sharpeness after a while and if you're unlucky it won't cut off your head first try and they either don't notice you're still alive and let you bleed out or go for a second chop, it might also just break your neck or crush your windpipe and you choke to death. Headcanon: Will Turner started turning sea-creature-ish because he refused to ferry his own son to the other side. This is apparently not the first time he’s tried to see his dad out of turn. Henry should be dead. But Will saved him, which is not his job.

This movie felt like Jack's last hurrah. I just had a feeling through the whole film of "This is it for him. There's nothing left for him to explore, so now he's just going to wander until he's done."
Also, Calypso probably kept Davey Jones alive. And he's gonna be pissed about Will's role in the 'mutiny' that lost him the Dutchman. Man proved he's all kinds of petty.
Considering what the role of the captain of the Dutchman is, it's probably not a job you can really leave unattended. Cause we saw what happened when Jones neglected his duties.
So what do you do when you no longer have a ferryman? You get a new one. Or rather, ask the old one if he wants his job back.

the definitive Death of Captain Héctor Barbossa was one of the most amazingly portrayed movie deaths of 2017
The title confused me for a second cause over here at least this one was called Salazar's revenge 😂 and when I looked it up Salazar's revenge is what it was titled for international release.
Yeah I remember it being called “Dead Men Tell No Tales” in theaters and on DVD, but “Salazar’s Revenge” on D+ in Canada for some weird reason

The French attempt to execute Jack Sparrow with a guillotine, an invention of the French Revolution. According to this movie’s official graphic novel, the film is set in 1751. Jack Sparrow’s birth happened around 1690/early 90s. This means that Jack Sparrow’s age in this film ranges from ~55 if we follow the novel and are generous with the birth year, to 99 if we aren’t generous and we go off of the guillotine.
At least they admitted from the start they never took the timeline too seriously.
It was the British who wanted to execute Jack, not the French.
This movie has my favorite ship of the series. The Silent Mary is amazing, huge and covered in cannons. The thing was a dreadnought before and after they died.

In the third pirates movie they explain the reason Davy Jones and the crew are fishy is because they stopped doing their job taking souls to the afterlife so they weren't under the goddess Calypso's protection from the sea anymore which means at some point will must have stopped doing his job of taking sols to the afterlife just like Davy Jones did
some have suggested he became like that in that moment because he raised the ship to save henry from drowning, thus breaking his duty
@@2chaskell That seems pretty farfetched. It *is* his duty to go to drowning individuals and offer them a place on his crew instead of death, if they so choose. Pretty sure that's why he knew to be there, he can tell when someone is drowning, just like Bootstrap Bill on the ocean floor when the Aztec Curse was broken. I don't know the rulebook, maybe there is something against just letting them go free? They join the crew or die? But it seems far more likely to me that this is another case of not following what the previous movies said. There are enough other cases to have a pattern.
The old crew for the first 4 movies left and this was made by diffrent people. Thats why there is no explaination for why Will is cursed or why giving the compass to another person here frees Salazar. The new guys just didnt care for canon and ignored a bunch of things, these two being the big ones

Correct. Jones was cursed to stay at sea forever and after this Jones carved out his own heart and established another seperate curse that whomever stabs the heart must take his place as captain as the ship must always have a captain. This curse would do the same thing as Jones' as you cant captain the ship from land but i guess the captain still gets a day on land just because.

I must say, this has to be one of my favorite series to see you guys react to. Even if this is easily the weakest movie in the series, it had a lot of great ideas and even some great scenes. And the finale of the movie is very good. But it does fumble a lot in the writing and the overall loss of charisma in the last hurts it a bit. But seeing you guys react to the series and the end, it made me appreciate it a little more. That and the series which I already loved.
I'm really happy with how far this channel has come and will continue to grow. It's one of my favorite newer channels. I watched Ruff when he was watching JoJo's, and then I found myself here about a month ago, and I think you guys are great! You guys have something with reactions that adds so much. A very "watching a show or movie on the couch with friends" vibe, but you all also like, actually pay attention to the movie and discuss and add to it and I feel like that's something some reactors tend to lack sometimes.
So keep doing what you're doing! You guys are a vibe.
As each reaction of these movies came out, I found myself starting over watching the reaction series from beginning to end. Like when the 2nd movie reaction came out, I rewatched 1 and then watched 2. Then 1, 2, and 3, and so forth and now today I'm watching the first four reactions again today before I watch the rest of this one. 💜

The Guillotine never actually worked the way it does in movies. It sometimes took 3-4 chops to lop off a head

one big issue i have with 4 and 5 is that they start mischaracterizing jack really bad, especially in this movie. every time he made some kind of daring escape or plan, there was always an aspect of being like "do you think he planned this or is he winging it" but in this movie its VERY clear hes just kinda drunk mr magoo where he stumbles around randomly and gets saved constantly through just wacky convenient stuff happening. like in the scene where they're robbing the bank and the rope gets caught around his leg, the very least they could have done was have him look down and see the rope and intentionally wrap it around him.
also dressing barbosa up in all that ugly makeup and wigs and shit really nerfed him so extremely hard in relation to how charismatic he was in the first three movies.
I definitely agree with your first point. Jack just felt off, and less...capable. But I have to disagree with the second. While I get how it might do that for some, Geoffery Rush was just *such* an excellent actor he still managed to nail it consistently, at least for me. The original cast throughline was the main thing I still liked. Gibbs, Babossa and even Jack were carrying the franchise. Maybe one way I see it is that, while Barbossa felt more sedentary, I kind of felt like that was in character? Jack was always out for adventure. Barbossa seemed to genuinely just want treasure and the luxury it brought. So when he joins as a privateer until being a pirate is more profitable, or has a gold-plated leg, that still worked.
Your perspective makes this fun for most doubters. Grand movie and ending for Jackie!
This is definitely top 5 film franchises for me. Just for my sheer enjoyment of it. 💜
the goddess of the sea also implied you cannot raise those who are at peace. Barbossa looked pretty darn content with how things ended.

What bothers me is the entire series just seems to forget one thing; Will can't leave the sea, but there is nothing keeping *anyone* on land! Maybe he can't go around underwater with living people on the ship, I don't remember if the Dutchman ever fully submerged while Will was riding her around, but at least some of the time the Dutchman is in the real or other world, and just about *everyone* important in the show is fine in both places. Let his son intern with dad for a year, Have Elizabeth tag along for a honeymoon. It's not like she's some shrinking violet by the end of the trilogy, after all. She could put up with some undead fish people in exchange for spending some time with Will. Not like any of them are even fishy after the curse was broken.

There are so many ways to get around the curse, it doesn't make sense for the family not to be together.
Even if Will became (maybe) ashamed about his not being able to be there for his family and his undying nature

Maybe renew there vows and watch the sunsun and maybe here more stories about his grand and great-grand children from her

@@steveburns6636 Well, we aren't told enough to be sure about retirement. At least not enough that I remember. As far as I could tell, that was supposed to be an eternal thing. I know I've seen some suggest that it was only one term required and that's why Davy Jones was mad at Calypso, but I really havn't heard enough to so support that. She wasn't there could just as easily have been the reason he grew to hate love and give up on his duty. I think Will is pretty doomed to watch everyone else age. You know, if his king of the pirates wife doesn't pull a Jack Sparrow and take over as a sea god or find the holy grail or some crazy immortality trick.
Still, there is no reason they can't be together...half of the time, anyway. Wouldn't be much more than some military families or people with long commutes have to deal with.
The first movie was the most cohesive. It was a stand-alone. The next two were a pair tacked on and it made a decent trilogy, to my mind. I found them mostly cohesive with each other and the first. The next two seemed to forget like...20% of what happened in the first 3 or each other. They remembered enough to add to the story, but not enough to not keep stepping in plot holes.
This movie retcons a few points, but I still think it's a fun movie all in all.

Also, when I first saw this film, the one thing that made me mad about Elizabeth's reveal was that she didn't say "Will," because she says it SO often I was expecting to hear her say it. Watching it again now, I guess it partly makes sense she didn't because she sees both Will and Henry together, but she hasn't seen Will since he left to be the Ferryman so that's why I think it makes sense. It just felt super weird that she didn't say anything.

"The flying Dutchman must always have a captain." The Flying Dutchman is not a curse, it's a duty, so without Will, Davey Jones came back to serve once again. It definitely would have been an interesting movie though to get a Davey Jones backstory and possible redemption but all were gonna get is a rehash of forced representation.
Also fun fact originally Keira Knightley didn't want to return for the final film but later convinced her only after she said did not want to bleach her hair, that's why her hair is dark brown.

basically the more you think about that line, and furthermore how much Jack gave away his compass in the previous movies, the more the plot of this one starts to crumble.

Maybe his heart just magically disappeared and reembedded inside his chest itself?
Although it doesn't have the god-tier writing of the rest of the movies, this is the only Pirates to make me cry. Barbosa's closure in this is so good.
We felt the same exact way about this film when it first came out. I’m glad you guys see it too! This is why I stopped after On Stranger Tides and let that film be the ending for me 🏴☠️

Fun fact: The pirates story is continued in Sea of Thieves with the Pirates Life tall tales so if you want to see more Jack Sparrow, Gibbs, and Davy Jones you should play that

not the same.. mihawk is warlord too and warlord and yonko are not in the same room for a class difference fight.. warlords are choosen by the marines and yonkos are choosen by pirates its like... both sides are faqing strong you have this and you have this its not even like apples and cherrys its more like bananas and televisions

I guess my joke thought process was Barbosa was Yonko Shanks and Jack was like Warlord Buggy, and yes I’m well aware Buggy becomes a Yonko later, but I made this joke comparison years ago.

Overall, these guys would make fair pirates with Boom as Captain. If they were in a movie, however in honesty, they’d probably die halfway through the film. Unless luck is on their side and their clumsiness fleas out of fear, they’re dead. Sorry guys! All love😂🩷

Captain Jack Sparrow is the best Pirate you've ever heard of.
Captain Hector Barbossa is the most Pirate you've ever heard of.
William turns that way because he let some people delay the end. Just like Davy Jones. He's only done it to like 3 or 4 people, so that's why his corruption is minimal compared to Jones.
This movie deserves more credit! It's a good ending for the series.

The Movie isn't as well written as the others, but Salazar is by far the most terrifying Villain. All others had a human side. But Salazar is just pure hate.

Will was doing his duty so he wasn’t looking like that as punishment it was simply from being underwater for so long, like how a sunken ship has barnacles and other sea life on it
People shit on this movie a lot but i still enjoy it, but personally this is like the best ending for the series. The will and elizabeth reunion was worth it
While the actor either had a scheduling conflict or was just too expensive to get for the movie, I like to think that Will named Bootstrap Bill as Captain of the Flying Dutchman and just retired at the end. Which is why we didn't come ashore (too busy captaining the ship, free from anything for the first time in like 40 years)

The don’t sharpen the gullotines. So as time progresses, it’s just a giant dull blade. So when they “cut your head off” it’s not always a clean decapitation. So you’re just suffering. So maybe hanging is better

I wonder if the extra ending scene has to do with Will no longer doing the job of ferrying souls. Even though the curse is lifted, that job is still necessary for the dead souls right?
