    You need to do a pop just before you past to the other side of the board, that work really well

    I've already managed to do 3 of these fully foiling tacks, and the most important things is to push your sail in the back of your board, this way, the nose of the board will point up, also starting the tack foiling very high and when switching the stance you should try to "jump".

    • @KarlOlofsson
      @KarlOlofsson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I already jump in regular windsurfing haha. Fun to switch as quickly as possible. Only 25 sessions in so far but have finally started planning (weak or gusty winds mostly).

  • @IvanWindsurfing

    I've been trying these tacks for a couple of weeks now, chipped my tooth doing them aswell! I've found that you need to keep your front foot in the strap for as long as possible and put the sail really far back, almost resting it on the board. This has got mine so much quicker. Still haven't got on yet though

    Hello there! I have seen some of your videos here and tried to find if you have already done the air tack, but I couldn't. You never do it making every time the sane thing. You tack is super fast but I think you are over stepping too early. You have to carve a little more and exaggerate to keep your nose up and maybe doing it too fast you make too much force on the front foot making the nose always come down. I hope you do it. I am trying myself. My conditions here are far from ideal and cannot have 200 tries in one ride. If I do it will be a real miracle!... have faith!

    Hi Nico,

    After some months looking at IQs complete this move, I think have understood how to do : you have to do a down-up with the nose before jump the other side. So, when you tack, the foil is high and the nose is up, this let you the time to go near the straps to keep flying.

    I always enjoy your videos and your constant level of stoke! AUS22 appears to be giving a very hard downward pop with his back foot before stepping around, which gets his board high and angled upwards. You seem to be entering much lower and more level, as with a conventional planing tack. Might it be worth trying to almost breach the board before the step? I've almost completed one and it was from sailing into a 60° header (mountain lake). The board just jumped and so did I, but there was no change of direction so it wouldn't have counted even if I'd made it - same heading on port and then on starboard.

  • @AngusMcIntyre
    @AngusMcIntyre 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ironically, the answer was staring you in the face from those wingers on day 1. Check out how they switch feet. The boards nose needs be angled up before you step round. If every millisecond on the nose induces a change in angle, you can a) shorten your time on the nose, and b) make sure that the angle never going before 0 degrees to the horizon. YOu didn't appear to enter any of the tacks with the nose up and this is one of the most apparent parts of the foiling tack, especially the 'first ever' video we all saw. I've not managed this myself as I'd switched almost entirely to winging, but the physics of it is the same as the winging foot switch.

    I blame you choice of conditions to attempt this in.
    As we all know, with a steady breeze and the right sail, you would totally have nailed it.
    Second thing to do is to do it together. To compete if you like. To see others achieve, or fail.
    Watching them try different moves also. You'll get this down. No worries.

  • @gingersoul6

    Comparing with the video of the IQfoil Aussie lad - your board doesn't usually lift upwards while switching sides. He's like pushing hard on his back foot to lift the board and jump straight to the other side (like jumping above the mast while leaning it backwards). He doesn't touch anywhere near the mast base and not preparing his front foot near the mast base as well. Also he looks like he is more focused on the weight management on the board then the sail control (not immediately bearing away because the mast is between his legs while tacking).
    Probably you're doing that but maybe you may try to foil not too high to have some room to lift just before the tack.
    Good luck with your first foiling tack! :D

    If I may...
    1) The 115 fuselage will make a HUGE difference with the advanced front wing position. The 105 is too back centered.
    2) The nose dive is almost inevitable, but starting the tack at a higher position (80cm) will be a +
    3) The smallest sail, the easiest
    Can't wait to see the results ;)
