Well this is weird, because the algorithm fed me this video hahaha. Though, to be fair, for some reason it's been feeding me a lot of lower sub/view channels lately. I tend to enjoy finding hidden gems. I hope that doesn't discourage you - hidden gems are the best imo. I think you can advertise and market yourself as a product all you like, but then that's all you'll be - a product. Which isn't bad per se, but the shelves are overflowing with products and they usually serve a specific purpose. If you can't fulfill that purpose as well as your multi-billion dollar company competitors, you're probably not gonna make it as a product. I think you're on to something. Show yourself as a person, and you're no longer a product. Now people can actually see you as an artist - like actually someone that makes art. And art will always connect with someone because it's a lot more subjective than products. If you find those people that connect, no matter how small that group is, I think you are likely to expand from there through word of mouth.
Hey there buddy. Thank you so much for your heartfelt comment. Sorry about the delay on answering back. Things are just crazy busy for me sometimes. I don't get discouraged, but I see it as a compliment that you decided to click on it anyway - so thank you so much for that. The perspective of promoting yourself as an artist has definitely shifted and I think it's about time we talk about it. In this age we tend to chase numbers, new results and easily forget what we already achieved and the people who already found us... Like you 🖤 I hope you'll find my music interesting and wish to share it around. Your comment means the world. Stay Awesome, Stay You! - Kenio
i feel your struggle, im trying to work on my music hobby. very early stages. crafting my writing, voice and starting to get into playing an instrument. youre way ahead of me as i dont show many if anyone my skill. i find myself not wanting to let it out to a wider audience, were in a time now with sooo many sellouts and i dont want to let people in that dont truly care about the art. but anyways, i wanted to tell you that your best doing it for yourself. if you love the music you make or the clothes you wear or the music you just enjoy listening to thats really all that matters in the end. having a small audience in my opinion can be best. it means whoever does listen to you or like your taste enjoys the real you and what you love and have to give. its really difficult in this world when everyday more and more people stop going to physical places for music like a record store and talk to less people in person growing a connection where you can reach out and touch them. this was long winded but i hope it finds you well!
I admire that you're encouraging me to create music for myself, but you're still too scared to follow your own advise? I hear you and you should definitely do what feels right to you, but the world deserves to hear your music. To hear your creativity unfold and being able to connect with you through your art. Let it out mate. You got this! Times has changed for the music industry, believe me, I know. I work in it daily and we are sometimes struggling to keep up with the 'trends'. But what I have learned is that the record store, the audience, the possibility to connect is still there. It just changed its features and visibility. Social Media is probably the best thing that ever happened to independent artists and it is really giving the labels a run for their existence. Now everyone has a shot at reaching their dreams, without a gatekeeper with political favoritism. You need to figure out WHO you are to others and lean into that. I support you all the way!
I totally get what youre saying😅Im a singersongwriter and Im tired because feels like social media Is saturated and also people have very bad attention spam
The entire music market is saturated, within every genre, because people are able to record from their homes now and put it out on every streaming platform. This makes sure that EVERYONE now has a chance and I see that as a good thing. BUT - only artists that recognizes that their journey is not about them, but about creating something that truly connects with someone. Those are the artists that'll succeed. Don't compare your behind the scenes to someone else's highlight reel. Their journey is not yours. We all walk our own path and success can be measured in many ways. I believe you'll get there, as soon as you recognize what makes YOU special to others. Keep creating to inspire. We support you.
Thank you for the support buddy! Glad the message resonated with you. I am considering uploading more of my 'thoughts' about the music industry on here. Right now it is mostly on my TikTok, but TH-cam is definitely getting me an audience lately 🎧 Really appreciate you!
I’ve been going to a lot of shows, and I really been struggling with the kind of work that I want to release, and finding a core message that really resonates with the body of work I feel like I have been creating music for long enough now that I don’t even know who I am anymore 600 tracks in
600 tracks in is an impressive catalog my friend. Have you found your secondary value? Ask yourself the following questions before starting your next track: - What makes me different from others? - What is my superpower and how can I exploit it? - Who am I as a brand? - Who am I to others? - WHO ARE THOSE OTHERS? I bet your next release will be a game changer for you my friend!
Thank you so much for the support and the encouragement. I have been working so hard, for so many years. It is all I know and there is no plan B for me. Let's make this happen!
the title of the video says 'Where is the music industry going?...and its just you talking about your career didnt take off, and 'secondary value' and all kinds of bullshit,

So sorry that the video didn't live up to your expectations. I made a whole new video for you. Hope you'll find more value in that one.
