I've been really enjoying your Amtrak videos. Your reaction to the waymo self-driving car in San Francisco was priceless Love it can't wait to see more.
Waymo is restricted to San Francisco and a few other places due to it being driverless. So both the state and city have to allow them to operate and there has to be good wireless service for it to work. Some time in the future it may be possible to travel intercity by self driving cars.
thank you for doing this train trip! i’ve never seen anyone else show what it’s like to take a trip like this. i’m enjoying every minute of it. and that self-driving car was WILD!!!!
The train travel is really giving a fun new spin to the channel! I love thinking of all of the new possibilities. It's always fun to have new experiences. 😊
Absolutely loving these videos Jacob! Always wondered what it would be like to ride on one of these trains, so interesting! Thank you so much for all you do!
I love that you did the self-driving car! That was cool! I had to pause the video to comment that I think this year should be the year of new experiences! In my opinion, the wax museums, Riley museums, amusement parks, etc, have all been done to death. I would love to see you do more things that you have never done, or those that haven’t been featured so many times on your channel. I would eagerly await each day to see that! I also had the thought that next time you do drive across the country, that you could stop at some of those small Amtrak stations and check out the museums as a companion to these train trips. Have a great year, Jacob!
Love this trip, Jacob! Can't wait to see the next leg up the Pacific Coast. Ha, maybe in the spirit of "planes, trains, and automobiles" here in 2025, you should put yourself through torture and take a Greyhound bus trip across country! 🤣
I did that in the late 70’s at the age of 23. From Ohio to Oakland with 90 bucks in my pocket & friends at the end of the line. Was definitely a “ trip”. Ha Ha. Experience, I will never forget.
@llidenn haha I bet! I've watched videos of other TH-camrs taking Greyhound and have read some horror stories. No thanks! lol. But hey, cheap is cheap, right? If it was rough in the 1970s, I can only imagine how it is now!

The self driving car is the best way to go because you dont have to deal with rude and nasty drivers be careful in san francisco a lot of places have closed down due to theft. I love u buddy and have fun and be safe.😊
Welcome to San Francisco, Jacob. Waymo is an amazing autonomous vehicle. I took this driverless vehicle home at night while I was working at my job. But welcome to my hometown, the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is my favorite trip of yours. If I'd been born in a different era, I would have been a "hobo" riding the rails. In mid 80's I attended the BRAC school, Brotherhood of Railroad & Airline Clerks. Afterwards I met my husband & though we settled in Sacto, we spent 6 months in S.F. This series is hitting all my soft spots. Thanks, Jacob
I'm 75 and I saw Laughing Sal on a trip to SF when I was about seven. It was in a seaside amusement park. Loved the Waymo ride. Just great. Thanks. Good to see Sal again.
@@kryscat5481 We were there a few times. We had an apt on the hill under the South San Francisco sign and I stated third grade in an elementary within walking distance. As a native German speaker, i can attest that Laughing Sal's German laughter was very authentic. German Ladies' Bowling Clubs on their weekend trips sound like that. Especially after some sparkling wine, or rather some more sparkling Prosecco. But your trip with Waymo was equally hysterical. I would have freaked out all the same. And you arguing with Waymo over the driving was just hilarious!
Love the train content, Jacob! So happy to see that you're having a great time! The self driving car was pretty neat and your reaction was very entertaining. Looking forward to the next video! Have fun and be safe!! You're awesome!!!
On my first Amtrak trip, a car sideswiped our train. We were stopped for about an hour. (No one was hurt.) Because of that delay, the train was really booking it. So it was bumpy and moving back and forth. Not that easy to use the bathroom during this time. Once they caught up, we were driving pretty smooth the rest of the way.
Jacob, this trip on the train has been my favorite. Also love watching the Waymo. I didn’t even know those were in use. Now I want to ride in one. Thank you and I always look forward to your new videos when I get home from work.
You gotta visit The California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park! It’s an aquarium, natural history museum, and indoor rain forest all under one living roof. I think you’d have a lot of fun at the Exploratorium too. It’s a hands on science museum where you can interact with all the exhibits. But if you have to pick one go with the Academy! I think you’d appreciate it the same way you enjoy the Milwaukee Public Museum.

Happy New Year. No take-aways from previous treks, but this one has to rank up there as one of the best adventures yet? SF suggestion: ZOO. Bus, or Uber. RE: Empire Builder; simply majestic n awesome experience and you’re going during snow season! It’s been several years but to this day I remember the magical sights of pulling into piney snow-topped towns, like Sandpoint, ID., or Whitefish, MT. Interesting side note is that I was traveling the westbound leg from Mpls->Sacramento but we were delayed due to a snow incident so Amtrak housed passengers in a Portland hotel overnight to accommodate Coastal rail connection. This whole series on the Amtrak is really appreciated. I am so happy the experience was a possitive one - that's a lot of time on a train. I'm a HUGE train fan but only used AMtrak to comute a few times from Sacramento to Emeryville (Trader Vics is in Emeryville) The Self driving car was crazy - glad you did it so I don't. If you at the warf or Market area then you can take the Cable car right to Fairmont hotel and take in Tonga Room. Also for a bit of classic art, the Grace Cathedral has castings of Ghiberti's bronze Babtisry doors accross the street. Good value for money.

Many businesses have been closing in downtown San Fransisco due to the reduction of people working in the offices and less people coming as tourists due to the homeless issues. I hope you still can have fun visiting and will be watching to see how you do.,

Hilarious !
I love trains so to see you traveling on them and making it the focus of this trip is great, also Waymo should name their vehicles Momo.
Outstanding video. You had me laughing so hard at the Waymo part.
We were in a Waymo in Mesa Arizona last month. Had an awesome time.
😂😂😂you in the car was THE best thing I’ve seen on you tube in forever! I needed that laugh… thanks😎
Jacob! You gotta do the Academy of the Sciences!!
hope to meet you soon in seattle jacob, love the channel and its been maybe 8 years since you were here
Wow Jacob! This is such a cool trip! Awesome to see all these wonderful places with you! I can't wait for the next leg of our journey exploring San Francisco! Please be careful out there! 😊❤
The wax museum closed August 2024. Many businesses in that area are struggling. Stay safe over there.
Many businesses have been closing in downtown San Fransisco due to the reduction of people working in the offices and less people coming as tourists due to the homeless issues. I hope you still can have fun visiting and will be watching to see how you do.,
Musee Mechanique is a place I always go to when in SF. Given where you are staying, the Buena Vista for Irish Coffee and Scomas for an old school seafood experience are a couple suggestions. California Academy of Sciences is cool as well. So many things to see in that city. Love it!
Oh Im loving this trip.. I was loosing it w u in the driverless car 🤣🤣🤣! He said be better if had a johnny cab guy in it out of total recall lmao 🤣
Once you get back to Chicago then take the South Shore line back to Valpo.
